Mr. Scot

Wilks interviewing for Browns DC job

Recommended Posts

Per Ian Rapoport.

If there's any interest on the part of the Panthers in bringing Wilks back, or any interest from Wilks in rejoining the team, neither side has shown it.

Honestly I think we haven't had a good D since Mcderrmot left. I thought Wilks was a big dropoff IMHO. Then Washington was a cliff dive.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Browns are working on a deal to hire ex-Cardinals coach Steve Wilks as their defensive coordinator.

Wilks had a failed one-year stint in Arizona, but this is a strong addition to Freddie Kitchens's staff. It's not a terrible fallback for Wilks, who should have a head coach of the defense role. The Browns will keep their 4-3 system under Wilks, but his zone schemes should improve a Cleveland seconday that allowed the eighth-most yards in the league in 2018.

With guys like Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward and others, he'll definitely have some toys to play with.

You realize he's referring to Cleveland's offense clicking, right?

Kitchens had Mayfield and the Browns offense looking pretty good last year.

I did like what Norv did with the offense this year...he was hampered with the shoulder thing...we could have been seriously dangerous otherwise..
