Cam Newton admits he couldn't throw 30 yards

Recommended Posts

I don't like to play the "hating on Cam" game so let's play the "what if" game.

What if Luke only had roughly 30% strength in his right arm? He was missing tackles all over the place and teams ran to his right side (blocking him on that right side) because he couldn't take on blocks with that arm - would you leave him in the game?

What if CMC was running with a limp because an injury only gave him 30% strength in his right leg? He lost considerable explosive ability and could probably only run around a 5.0 forty on the field. Would you leave him in the game?

Just curious if you feel the same way as you do with a QB whose arm is only at a third of normal strength. Defenses are teeing off on him because he's limited in what routes he can throw, and they're basically ignoring any routes more than 30 yards.

when your qb cant throw the ball more than 10-20 yards thats not "general soreness".  I CAN blame ron for sending him back onto the field, at that point he needs to sit and either get surgery or sit and let it heal.  You sure as hell dont just keep sending him out there to be ineffective at best and injure it further at worst.  It doesnt matter who your backup is at that point, all that matters is your starting qb is no longer viable.

Was Cam a party to the situation?

Did he have any say so in the matter?

No but it is his decision on who the starting QB is.  When your QB cant throw more than 20 yards hes not going to win you games as we all saw...

Im not wrong to think the head coach should bench a QB who is unable to throw a 30 yard pass...

The problem with your thesis is he was able to throw a 30 yard pass.  (just not very accurately, which has been the norm for years)

Cam looked like he was throwing a shot put late in the season.

As is his norm

It may have been difficult but he was doing it.

According to NFLs NextGen Stats the final 6 games of Cam's Season (the 6th losses). His LCAD (longest completed air distance) by game are as follows:

Wk 10: 26.7

Wk 11: 40.5

Wk 12:  35

Wk 13: 35.2

Wk 14: 36.9

Wk 15: 27.9

That nobody cared to look at the available stats before tossing out things like "when your qb cant throw the ball more than 10-20 yards thats not "general soreness"  is weaker than Cam's arm was late in the season.

Maybe recognize that his QB was shot-putting his throws barely 10 yards on his throws and start believing his lying eyes like a normal human being?

"Bu... bu... bu... they said he was OK!"

That's weak-sauce, man.

Barely 10 yards on his throws? Please stop lying.

This thread should be title for the video because it's fantastic.  I hope he posts YT videos throughout the offseason.

Any reasonable person sees the area between a sore shoulder with limited range of motion that  cant throw deep and  this silly unable to throw 10 to 20 yards bit.

Nobody is saying he didn't have a shoulder issue. But the changing exaggeration level is quite dramatic.
