Could be a fit as a unrestricted free agent..

Price won't be high.

Still young at 25..

Could work in our transition to a hybrid scheme.. If guys like Barr gets priced out of our range..

That might be an option.  I was looking at the expected prices of the top ten an they are out of our range I think.

Yeah I was looking at the same thing.. All the top teir edge rushers are going north of 16mil.. So the Clowney, Clark, Lawrence, and Flowers guys are probably staying with their teams or going to the highest bidder.  Which aren't either.. Guys like Barr will get paid as well.. Looking at Sporadic cap calculations for each team..

We can either go the older vet looking for a last contract route (Derrick Morgan, Brandon Graham, maybe Ansah)..

Or the younger change of scenery bust guys (Ray, Fowler, Arron Lynch, Eli Harold) types..

He better be REALLY cheap. Bust.

Cheap is a relative term.. He is still young and a 1st round talent.. So around 6 to 8 mil might get him to pick us over another team..

$6-8M for Shane Ray? Please God let him choose another team then.

This would be like some other fanbase wanting Vernon Butler simply because he's a former 1st round pick.

$6-8M... LOLOLOLOL!!!

This is a smart FA signing that a team like the Patriots would make, possibly to replace UFA Trey Flowers.

I don't have much faith in Marty Hurney.

You might be right.. 6 to 8 might be over bidding..

3 to 5 might be more realistic.. But youth and him once being seen as a 1st round talent will count for something with some teams we will be competing for his services against..

I will also say for a team trying to make this scheme work with little FA money.. We will need some cheap options..

If Tre Boston is getting $9m per year and we are paying Reid $8m per year and Mathieu/Harris $10m per year, why not Ray at $6-8m? Heck Ray’s 4 year stats compare well to Ealy’s 3 year stats with us. At least Ealy was healthy.

We already have a first round DL bust on our team - Butler. If Ray gets 8 million per from a team it better not be the Panthers!
