But still...  he did the same thing here and we couldnt ever recover.

He forced Gross into retirement, and we never have been able to fix it.

He jettisoned Smitty, and had the ego to believe he could replace him easily with his own guys...  KB sucked ass and us almost out of the league, and Cotchery, just lol.  Give us Smitty in SB50, and that's a totally different game.

Then Norman...  we're still reeling from that.

Idk what his angle is, but wherever he goes, he wants to get rid of as many of the previous regime's guys as possible.

Not defending Gettleman just saying I thought that contract was terrible and look what AB went for...not a horrible deal if you are rebuilding.  Plus OBJs attitude sucks.

Except Gettleman takes those picks and drafts guys like KB, Shaq, Funch, and Vernon Butler.

And what about the cap hit for trading him?

Why is there a cap hit? Bonuses un prorated? Shouldn’t Cleveland now be on the hook now?

I have no idea what to think. Honestly, paying that much to a WR when you are clearly in rebuilding mode is crazy but why not trade him before signing him to that deal? Is Peppers any good? I mean cap wise, they got rid of $32m a year in OBJ and Collins and with that giant cap space they got pick 17 and Peppers. If pick 17 works out then it could be a heck of a trade. If it doesn’t then the trade sucks. Again, they are far from winning the division so saving $60m in cap the next two years isn’t a bad plan if you pick a QB early and plan to be competitive in 2021/2022. It’s risky but they aren’t a playoff team paying those to $30m the next couple years.

What do picks matter to a team though with DG as their GM?

OBJ is arguably the most talented player in the league but the dude is a complete nut job who destroys locker rooms.

he does not show up in the playoffs or when it matters.

Just wondering...  does this move free up cap for him to go after Daryl Williams now?

They eat 19 million in dead money but free up 5 million in cap space. Or so I've read

I think you're right.  I couldn't remember.

OBJ wanted a new deal surpassing AB's deal. Add in his attitude issues and the type of return they got from the Browns... really good trade for the Giants. They got a first and a third plus a young safety with room to grow. AB didnt even get the Steelers a first. huge win from the giants side of things.

On the surface, this seems to be a great deal for the Giants, and maybe a good one for the Browns.  Giants shed a lot of cap space,  and get a first and a third.  Depends on who they draft of course, but could be a great deal.  Browns pick up a good target for their qb.

Gettleman is tanking the fug out of the Giants. Eli should just up and retire. He's done anyway plus the Giants are making zero effort to win this season. Tua or Aaron Murray will be their QB in '20.

mayfield going #1 overall in fantasy drafts now

Except for rare formats, its generally not the best strategy to take any QB #1 overall in fantasy.
