They are probably pretty well acquainted with that from the draft evaluation process. Now they will get a chance to coach him in a practice setting and correct that stuff.

Gonna be awhile before they can truly get to work with him. They were scouting lots of OL leading up to the draft.

I read somewhere that most top prospects are scouted months (like a year or two, or more) in advance, so that by the time "draft season" begins that the powers that be already have a good sense as to strengths and weaknesses of specific prospects.  The Combine has its place, but it's not going to necessarily preempt all the months of research already gathered.

The Combine mostly helps the guys that no one has heard of (not literally, but on a relative  basis) and guys that no one has taken the time to research because they've "come out of nowhere."

Whild we're talking goid work, Dennis Daley arguably did his best work against Ferrell (career lows for the Edge). He handled D'Andre Walker also.

Here is the rub---our power running side will be Turner/Moton for a while.  Greg Little needs to keep Cam upright.

If we get a LG that can dominate, we will be OK.  When we run toward Little (assuming all we are saying is accurate on the NFL level), we will probably pull a G and trap, use misdirection (cutback, for example) or have  a lead blocker Armah or Manhertz, for example.  Meanwhile, Matsko is developing Little--If you look at the draft and how the LTs fell, this trade up was necessary--the problem most Huddlers had was in thinking they would/could play Moton and LT-that decreased the need (in our heads) for a LT in the draft who could compete for  the LT job.  Little is going to start at LT--I am 90% sure of that.

Yeah, im not disappointed with this pick. He would have been gone at 47 and the reason we had to give up better than 100 is eveyone knew there was about to be a run on tackles. Teams know each others boards, to a degree.

Williams is gone next year, so wed be right back to needing a tackle then, without a year to develop him.

Daley is going to be a good one when he is ready.

Which team was taking him between 37 and 47?

His issue is going to be run blocking.

Longo (UNC’s new OC) runs an air raid offense so Ole Miss threw on damn near every down.

He’ll hold up against the pass well but he needs to work on getting to the next level in run blocking.

Putting the right guy at LG will help him a lot

Any team could have been a threat to trade into that range of picks, just like we did.

Broncos

To replace their LT they drafted two years ago? That wasn’t happening. They traded up for the player they wanted.

Then it should be easy. Who that hadn’t already passed on him was trading up?

That was pretty much his reputation. We have greater needs in pass protection than run blocking from that position anyway, so that isn't as big of a negative.

Hopefully we can execute our simple dump offs which are like extended run plays for us. Drop back dump it off let CMC scurry for about 7-10 yards seems like a solution to his run blocking deficiencies. Our RPO blocking usually mirrors running and passing so once he’s engaged if Cam hands it off hopefully he’s already blocking if Cam throws it not much to worry about bc his pass blocking is his strong suit.

We are also going to see a LOT of new or returning faces on that OL. IF Little ends up starting, it may not be as big of a deal if he is a weak run blocker as long as the other 4 are strong.

I also don't think it is anywhere near a given that Little starts at LT next year. Probably one of the most interesting stories this offseason for me is who we put where on that OL. Outside of Turner and Paradis, those other spots seem to be up for grabs.

For the health and success of our team I would rather have Little competent at pass pro and needing work on run blocking.  That is the easier of the 2 to coach up. And won’t get our QB killed in the meantime.  In the short term we can scheme around the run blocking.  He has the skill set to be an adequate run blocker. Just hoping Matsko works his magic quick.
