Lived my life almost equally between the two states.  Born and raised in Charlotte and spent the last 17 years in SC.  So yeah, I think SC folks will get more involved now since they have more skin in the game.   I don't think 14 days a year at camp Wofford had much impact.  SC is very college football focused, so maybe this will get some folks into the Panthers as well as their favorite college team.

I think the Rock Hill/Fort Mill area has a lot of Charlotte hooks in the form of jobs , community extension, etc...   I would say a lot of those folks are already entrenched in the Panthers.  I think putting it there and seeing the local excitement will likely expand to other in the community and quite possibly state.

Pretty good move

Panthers are my favorite team but yea when Clemson is clearly a better team and more successful than the Panthers wtf else would you expect. In terms of the Gamecocks they just claim something SEC something something and that's about it.

It's like saying NC is very college basketball focused lol...water is wet.

Yeah.  I think a lot of people in SC have felt like the team is basically the Charlotte Panthers and not the Carolina Panthers because up until now, there has been limited effort to include SC and make them feel a part of the team.  Even the move to have training camp in Wofford was seen by a lot of people as more a move for JR to give back to his alma mater than to include South Carolina.

IMO, this move is important in what it will represent to SC more than the effect of simply having the HQ in Rock Hill.  Tepper is making a concerted effort to bring SC into the Panther fold, and that should increase excitement in the team for many ambivalent fans in SC.  Of course, Tepper is doing this as a marketing tool and revenue generator (expanding his customer base), but it's still nice to show the fans down south that they matter.

Three thoughts here, most of the rural south outside of the major cities have more fervor for college sports than pro in general.  It's just not a SC thing.  Secondly,  if the Panthers are around another 100 years, they will certainly have the generational legacy and probably a few titles too.  Remember, this team is just celebrating their 25th season this year.  It's easy to hop on an established bandwagon, it's another to go out on a limb for a young franchise.  Thirdly, the insinuation by some that the greater Metro of Charlotte can support the Panthers without the need of SC or the eastern/western part of  NC for that matter is a farce.  Most of Charlotte aren't even Charlotteans.  That fact is bore out by the opposing fan jersey's when the Steelers, Giants, Eagles, Packers etc... come to Charlotte.  Don't get trapped in the notion of "their fan base travels well" because most of those people didn't travel more than 30 miles from the suburbs of Charlotte to attend the game.  t's embarrassing to myself as I'm sure it is to others to have such a showing of other team''s fans in BOA, let alone if we are losing in the 4th quarter to be completely drowned out by those folks.

A lot of the folks in the Eastern part of the state feel the same way.  When is the last time any of the fun stuff that the players and team do was held outside of Charlotte?

Peppers doing some hurricane relief and Ron speaking here a couple years ago is about it that I can recall.

Move Cam's kickball tourney around a bit, do some team sponsored draft or watch parties in Raleigh.

I'm a diehard, but I'm in the very few in the Eastern part of the state.

Yeah they still show the redskins over panthers  in parts of NE NC and OBX.

They definitely need to have more of a presence in Eastern NC.  I don't think JR had the business vision to see what areas outside of the Charlotte region could bring to the team.  But Tepper is making it clear he recognizes an untapped gold mine in places that have been under represented by the Panthers.

The market, and in turn, revenue, will increase exponentially if the team can connect with fans that have not really had a reason to bond with the team.

The cost of living is definitely cheaper down here in SC. Granted wages are a bit lower, but taxes, gas, housing and food all are lower.  I'll sacrifice $10k a year in salary for all those perks...trust me, those items alone offsets the pay gap and then some.  I like visiting family and friends in NC, but it's highly unlikely I'll ever move back due to everything being so much more expensive and still climbing.

At what point does the offset no longer work?

It depends on how much of a pay difference one will sacrifice compared to their standard of living.  It's up to the individual essentially.  They pay gap isn't all that big either.  All I know is there's no way I could have bought a comparable house in/around Charlotte for what I did in SC and have as low of a mortgage as I do.  Gas is usually 20-25 cents higher a gallon in NC compared to where I live.  There's no tax on groceries in SC.  Talking to family in Charlotte, apparently the city is hiking property taxes again.
