Manhattan federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment Thursday charging a banker with bribing former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort with $16 million in loans in order to secure a high-ranking position in the presidential administration.

The banker, Stephen Calk, never got any of the positions he sought in the Trump administration, including secretary of defense, secretary of the army and secretary of the treasury, according to the indictment, although as a result of Manafort's influence, Calk was interviewed for a senior role. And when Manafort defaulted on the loans, the bank of which Calk is chief executive officer, the Chicago-based Federal Savings Bank, incurred a multi-million-dollar loss.
Manafort isn't named in the indictment, but he matches the description of the "borrower" described in court papers, whom prosecutors describe as having been the chairman of a presidential campaign between June and August of 2016, and his dealings with Calk arose last summer at Manafort's trial in Virginia. Calk is charged with one count of financial institution bribery.

Racism, preserving the status quo which promises a meritocracy but is really just a lie told by oligarchs who exploit capitalism and the working class, using racism and lack of education and healthcare to pit the lower classes against each other, fear mongering on the part of Fox News and Republicans, culture wars totally propagated by the right which sells their base on resentment and paranoia of left wing ideas which would actually benefit society but they've convinced them that they're just gonna steal their money and savings and give it all to black people

Yeah, centrists who don't present any ideas of value other than admonishing both sides in order to paint themselves as above the fray and more intellectual when really they're just demonstrating a lack of conviction and fortitude and a need for attention, and promoting this false notion that all ideas no matter how abhorrent must be heard (bullshit, nazis need to be deplatformed and eliminated) inevitably making it easier for the far right and fascist to make their ideas mainstream, which leads to right wing terror attacks and politicians ascending to positions of power because they've made nazism seem like an acceptable political stance (it isn't), share a lot of blame for what's going on right now. That's why they need to be called out for their bullshit, too.
