Mario Addison could be cut/traded- save 8 million cap

Recommended Posts

Given that the 8M saved would go towards absolutely nothing that would make this years team better, this move would make no sense.

And do we really know what he looks like in coverage or are we just assuming like most of our media members? Also we’ll be in nickel more often than not so it’s not like he’ll be dropping into coverage then anyways.

What if Burns plays well in preseason, but is shown to look like a rookie once the real games start?  They should give  Burns and the other young guys at least one full season before cutting any vets.  I don't see any major moves coming soon unless there are some injuries.

That maybe the main reason why Mario stays. I will keep on stating hes about to turn 32 and most times its better to part ways with a guy one year earlier than let him stay cause of _______ .

I guess everyone here thinks no question Mario will have a easy 10 sacks this year, losing a step or two could prove otherwise.

Trying to get too cute with moves like this can easily backfire.

I agree, this is a 9/10 on the cute scale. But I will not ignore age, Burns, and cap saving.

Of all the ideas I've heard, this is one of them.

I’d heard  & been using it as “of all the assholes ive met, you’re one of them..”

but it I absolutely understand why you chose that vernacular...

Mario is in the last year of his deal and cutting/trading him now does nothing but give us cap space this season alone.  This roster is fairly set, so there's no real urgency to free up a ton of cap room for 2019.  He's off the books next year (unless extended/re-signed).

It’s a dumb decision, but the cap space would roll over. There may be some limits as to how you can use it this year, but it wouldn’t just go away. Either way, it’s not going to happen.

It could come down to Mario or Bradberry/Shaq on the books side.

Gimmie the young guys.

Mario looks like a bad 3-4 fit unless hes rushing the passer.

Its a young mans league and Mario is about to turn 32.

Remember we are going to be lots of 4 man fronts particularly against teams with good running games and if we get gashed in the running game using 3 man fronts. We went to the 3-4 because we couldn't fine 4-3 DEs, everyone was an OLB. So we wouldn't get rid of the best we have after we took years to develop him. Nah.
