Predictions - Panthers at 49ers

I think 49er fans are going to be surprised by Shaq.  He isn’t really on most folks radar.  Think they will wonder how Kittle isn’t doing more given that Luke isn’t the one on him all game.

Fully admit I know little about his professional career. He grew up near where I did and played at UW. Haven't seen much highlight film but with you all being a small market that's not surprising (West Coast teams get the same treatment).

Nobody is scoring 30 in this game, might not score 30 between both teams. Defense rules on Sunday, which team gets turnovers and best field position wins...

Slye kicks a game winning field goal as time expires

Panthers 17

9ers 10

How is this a game winning field goal scenario?

This should be a good old fashion head banging game, something the Panthers excel at.  Our OL vs their DL and visa versa.  Who can best run the ball and get to the QB will win (assuming no missed FGs).  The Panthers will win because:

1.  SF is down both tackles (although Staley is rumored to be available) and along with our LBs we will be able to play them straight up and not need to bring a safety in the box to stop the run.  SF will try to mimic TB’s 8 in the box to stop CMC which will open up passing lanes for KA.  Norv will take advantage.
2.  Carolina plays better on the road, likely because they are more focused and going East to West doesn’t upset any schedules.  Additionally,   the wine and cheese late arriving crowd in Santa Clara is no home field advantage.

3. While SF is 6-0, they really have not learned how to win.  They won 5 games last year and are in that “rah rah” stage of team building.  They have some good parts but it takes time to become a team. If they get down early, it could actually get out of hand.

The Panthers continue with their sack/TO performance and win by two scores.

Shaq is a beast, and this year so far has really been his coming out party.  He is thriving as an ILB beside Luke in our new 3-4 defense.

1) Yes, but we have been for three weeks and the backups are holding up better then anyone would have anticipated.

2) Watch the game, you will be corrected.

3) This is my favorite.... not learned how to win? Are you serious. They have won games in all different fashions this year- literally all of them have specific scenarios that one can point to and say 'they cover came this huge hurdle'. The best example is Pittsburgh, never has a team won when committing 5 turnovers- not a single one, ever. The Niners did.

two good defenses?

gonna be 41-38 Panthers with Slye hitting a 62 yarder to win.

Ha, there has been 67 points YTD scored on the Niners D. You will not put up 40, or 30, for that. Maybe low 20's.

A lot of times when two really good Defenses meet they are high scoring games.

49ers win on a late FG, 30-27. Allen does okay, so does CMC, but SF is just the better team, at home, right now.

49ers aren’t the Patriots.  They are just an good team that has played the easiest schedule in the NFL to date.  They aren’t going from 4-12 to 13-3.

Best offensive player that steps on the field Sunday belongs to Carolina

Best defensive player that steps on the field Sunday will also belong to Carolina.

Close game.   Not buying at all 49ers are the better team.   They just have a better record because of the schedule.  If Carolina didn’t open the season with a gimp/hurt player that touched the ball every possession they would be undefeated right now too.

I'm not gonna lie. It wouldn't exactly hurt my feelings if we did to the 49ers this year what the Steelers did to us last year.

16-13 either way

We shut their offense down, they have 1 big play

CMC does a good job running the ball and has a big game.

Allen gets hit a lot, fumbles at least once (SF has forced a QB fumble in every game this season)

Comes down to a FG
