Ron is Ron. We all know who he is. He won’t change. Hasn’t changed. What makes you think he’ll change. He couldn’t fire Shula. Won’t fire Washington. He’s too loyal and that’s what will end up killing his career. We have a group of players that are better on paper than the Packers, Seattle, and probably even the 49ers. We have a worse record than all three.

I didn’t say he would change.

Said it is very easy to do worse than Rivera.  Hard to do better.

We aren’t better on paper than the 49ers right now.  We aren’t better than the GB on paper either.

We are just as good if not better than SF and GB on paper. Go look at it. We need a new voice in the locker room. Someone that is willing to learn and change at the same time. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. That’s Rivera.

I don’t see an argument of how we are better on paper than either. Can we beat them? Sure.  But on paper we should be dogs to either right now and should of been entering both games regardless of where they were played.

The whole problem with the "well, we could do worse" argument is it justifies hanging on to a mediocre coach hoping that, despite everything you see, somehow he'll get better.

There are probably worse coaches out there than Dan Quinn. Should the Falcons hang on to him for fear of that?

Yep. If the Packers and Rams went by that motto, they would still have McCarthy and Jeff Fisher (and McCarthy had a better regular season and postseason record than Ron, AND won a superbowl). I mean, the Broncos could have kept giving John Fox chances to get it done...........and they would have probably been with 1 less superbowl ring too. I get it, people are scared of change when the situation is "decent". They think getting potentially worse vastly outweighs getting potentially better. But personally, I would rather suck or be elite than to just be stuck in the middle with false hope.

I bet my 40 hr dollar paycheck that Tepper didn’t make billions because he was afraid of doing worse.

I wanna work for CRA. I'll do the absolute bare minimum, but I won't embezzle or intentionally sabotage anything so I guess I'll have perpetual job security because hey, you could always do worse.

I am not convinced that Rivera is gone after this season. I am not a  Rivera supporter by no means but given the factors that have played a part this season (no Cam, new look defense, new guys, team jelling. Etc) I can honestly see Tepper giving Rivera a pass THIS SEASON and let next season being a "Make it or break it" year for Hurney and Rivera.

That said, if the season ended today and Rivera was fired, I would say that Tepper's mindset will be someone younger and that has fire and tenancy. I could see a guy like Kris Richard (DC for the Cowboys, previously of the Seahawks) being a guy to really keep an eye on.  I know it isn't the route most will go because it is another defensive guy but  if Tepper really has that "Steeler" mentality, then he'll put defense before offense any day of the week. I will say this, I honestly believe he is building his own identity here in Carolina and yes, he may use some concepts from the Steelers Organization, I don't think he is trying to make this team the Carolina Steelers. That said, I could see him go bold and get a top guy like Riley (even though I really do not want college coaches, tbh.)

Just my two cents

How many "make it or break it" years are Ron and Hurney going to get? Excuses have to stop at some point. Next year a whole new list of excuses will pop up. Hopefully Tepper sees through that. If not, then I will start questioning whether Tepper really even wants to win.

And I wouldn't mind another defensive guy at HC as long as he's up to date with the NFL and willing to bring in a competent OC that can man that side. And........you know.........ACTUALLY ABLE TO FIELD A TOP 10 DEFENSE CONSISTENTLY.

You want a young guy with fire and energy? Saleh is the guy. Just watch him on the sideline makes me sweat
