There is a looooong history of that with the Panthers that predates both Gettleman and Hurney. 1995 - we targeted Kerry Collins rather than Steve McNair 1996 - we took Tshimanga Biakabutuka over Eddie George There's more, but I don't want to depress myself.
raz 1,446 Report post Posted November 19 100% agree. you do not create a shiteshow with your qb who has never been in trouble with the law, made disparaging comments, does a lot for the community, and on and on and on ad nauseam. you accommodate his wishes if you can't meet eye to eye over business. weird that's where we're at. and so what some of us have been excited as hell with the potential allen may have. do y'all even think what that would mean for our team? if he's really really good like how he looked in AZ. 99% odds its not the case but this is our team and we don't have to always be rational. Tepper's Chest Hair 1,201 Report post Posted November 19 Kyle Allen. Well. He just needs time. Greg Little? Already a bust.

He had a pretty bad game, but rookies do that. In this particular case though, I'm way more concerned about his health than his performance.
My Goodness My Guinness 1,033 Report post Posted November 19 Anyone got the total hurries given up in the game? Had to be over 50% of the snaps. Both tackles looked like they were playing on ice by how bad they were getting bull rushed. It was probably the worst O-Line play I've ever seen tbh and that's saying something considering our crappy O-Lines since Gross left.
DubE_4MR 50 Report post Posted November 19 Allen was flustered. The pocket might have been clean but when you're pressured that much, it becomes mental and you get happy feet and rush your throws and reads. Poor pass protection plus a QB that doesn't perform well under pressure is a lethal combination. Yeah it's just young players making young player mistakes, but that's a major let down during a season where we all had high expectations.

I am pretty sure this describes most teams in the NFL. All teams have a ton of picks they'd take back over someone big being drafted later. The reality in the draft (even the good drafters) is that you don't have a good hit rate.

pantherj 3,207 Report post Posted November 19 We know that Allen is an accurate short range passer. He's decent at medium range, and poor deep. If Allen is missing a lot of short and medium passes it's pretty much because he's chicken poo due to being hit, or almost hit, too many times in a game. He'd rather just start throwing trash passes and get the game over with than be brutalized by head hunters. We have no idea if Little is any good at this point or not. He looked good, and then he started suffering from brain damage, missed a ton of football, and then came back looking confused as to how to even pass block. I don't want Allen as our long term QB. I can't image him leading us to a SB victory. It's not fuging happening. I want a QB who has the talent to lead this team to a SB victory and long term success. That QB is somewhere in the upcoming draft, or the following draft, and I don't mind losing short term to land our next franchise QB and a shot at the SB.
