Cam isnt goi g to play out the last year pf his.contract. qbs get extended the year before. He is already didstancing himselfmfrom the team in preparation to force a contract or force a trade. Hopefully the later.

Cam is a running qb thay has taken a ton of abuse. He has been playing for 9 years and the wear and tear is breaking his body down. He isnt going to play for 20 years like brady because he has taken more punishment. He is comparable to a rb considering thenhits he has taken... when is the last time you saw a rb gaet a huge 4 year contract after playing 9 years... and what of oir new coach doesnt even want cam? There are a 100 reasons why cam is gone, and only a few poor reasons why he would be resigned. It isnt 2015 anymore. Cam has been declining for years.

Just how can Cam force a trade?  You do know if Cam sits out he will still be under contract the following year.

Cam already knows he wont be playing here next year. Why do you guys think he didnt show up to the games? Buy a clue lol.

Everyone pooed this post but no one tried to prove me wrong. Tell me cam only fans. Why did cam not come and support his team? He isnt preparing to hold out is he? None of you have angood reason why he is distancing himself from the team. Just poo away though. Poo and pray that cam comes back, right?

I liked cam too... but this is a cut throat busimess. "What have you done for me lately". A rebuilding team doesnt sign players that cant stay healthy. I never meant to hurt your feelings, but i amntrying to prepare you for the inevitable.

Once again... contracts are based on the FUTURE, not the past.

What team gives him an extended contract unless he is fully healthy? Oh and if others know he is fully healthy why the hell would we let him walk? I addressed the sitting out aka forcing a trade he has zero leverage against the team

Last year he was in the MVP discussion with a bum shoulder but yeah let’s stick to the notion that he has fallen off a cliff.

What colors are those? My carolina blue and black? I want whats best for the team. You guys want to cripple the team because you are cam first fans. I bet 1/2 of these people in this thread didnt even watch the panthers before cam got here and will probably leave with him.

Most of yoy probably wont be here thouhh because you will follow cam to his new team. Our fan base will be better for it. We are rebudi g for the future, and that includes the qb position. Accept it.

Actually you have pointed nothing out, just given uninformed opinions

Long time reader and first time poster here. I've probably been meandering on this forum for upwards of 10 years now. It's far more toxic around here than it has ever been. It's all politics to these people. They think you have some 'agenda' going because they assume you want Cam gone because he's black. That's literally what you are witnessing here. Lol. It's utter nonsense and its honestly pathetic. The writing is on the wall for Cam. HUGE Cam Newton fan over the years but his time here is done. The homers just can't take off their glasses and see it. Outside of 3-4 solid seasons of his, the rest have been average or well-below average. With the injuries adding up and his age on top of that, his best days are behind him. If we do in fact bring him back next year, I can guarantee you it won't be pretty. As far as Kyle Allen goes? Yeah, he's no long-term answer either. He had the talking heads going for his first month of play, but he's playing awful ball right now. This dude fails to protect the football. I'm not opposed to seeing what Will Grier can do at this point.

Welcome.  I was here reading since 2003 season.  My position is we need OL first as that is the cause of everything going wrong in last 2 years. Allen has taken too many beatings and that affected his decision making, would like a look at him post OL rebuild.  Note his stats 1st half of games vs 2nd half of same game.

Imagine wanting to see what Kyle Allen can do behind a rebuilt OL and in the same breath wanting to cut ties with Cam Newton rather than seeing what he can do behind that same OL.

Ridiculous.

If it is, this speaks volumes. Sound Off.

So we listen to defensive ends on QB decisions? Sounds about right. This will come down to the day before the 2020 league year starts... Tepper will ask the team doctor will Cam be 100% healthy by July? If the answer is no 98% likely, he will be traded...

Let Cam play the contract out and then proceed wisely from there. If he is back to health, a new contract can be negotiated along the way. If not, then Cam can either move on or retire as needed and we all feel like we gave it our best shot.

Only way Cam agrees to that contract is if doctor gives terrible news... we’d be forced to pay it anyway.

Well, he is already under contract for next season at what is a remarkably reasonable price if he is capable of playing. If he makes it through the season and can continue playing, then a contract can be negotiated after that. There has been no indication, to my knowledge, that he wants to be somewhere else.

    • Brian, thanks for the analysis and depth of thought.  You are more right than most here would be willing to admit.  Our defense was bad. The point of the thread has strayed a bit--reading the Mike and why it is done--for the most part.  It seems that it could have had a lot more to do with the OL's demise than anyone thought. Liked the table--interesting.  Our DT play made it impossible for Luke to do his job.  McCoy was just looking for sacks--watch his film--there is little gap awareness.  His stats?  15 Tackles, 5 sacks.  Most people say, "5 sacks for a DT?  That is great".  McCoy took more than 2/3 of the snaps on defense and averaged less than 1 tackle per game.  That is what $8m buys you in free agency. Everyone rips D. Poe, who has about the same salary.  From the NT position in 5 fewer games, Poe had 22 tackles and 4 sacks.   NTs make fewer tackles and get fewer sacks. While Poe's numbers are not worth the $9m price tag he carries--he OUTPLAYED McCoy. Kyle Love played in 15 games ($1.3m salary) and made 8 tackles, none were sacks.  He was the most unproductive DT we had. Perhaps the most hated DT on the roster was Vernon Butler.  However, in on only 40% of the snaps (McCoy was 68%), Butler outplayed McCoy with many fewer opportunities.  Butler had 32 tackles, 22 solo---6 sacks.  So the fact that RR played McCoy more than Butler shows that RR s) Loves him some veterans, b) does not use data to make decisions.  We all know that RR's use of Cam has probably led to the end of his career.  We feared that his riding CMC would do the same--but we may have not understood that his stupidity in terms of the DT rotation could have led to Luke's retirement.  McCoy was here as a Buccaneer (his words) trying to steal a few million bucks from some sucker before he retires.  He was not stuffing the run or keeping blockers off his hall of fame LB--he was out for McCoy. Personally, I think someone is going to grab Butler in free agency and have a good player.  That is how RR hurt this team--never developing talent--trusting veterans who were looking out for #1--not Cam--themselves.
    • I would add that RC was able to convert to more of a pocket passer as he aged--something I do not see Cam doing.
    • LOL...Trump is not scared of running against bernie
