Panthers Beat Writer on the current stage in the HC search

Ben Volin confirmed we inquired about both McDaniels and Caserio last offseason before deciding to stand pat.

OK but inquiring really means nothing. A proper search would include “inquiring” into dozens of potential candidates from the start. I’ve yet to see any legitimate reports that McDaniels is high on our list or a serious target for us. It’s possible, sure, but nothing concrete suggests that’s the case. And the report that McDaniels wants to coach here muddies the waters a bit in regards to who wants who.

It’s going to be Josh McDaniels. Expect it to be announced after the Patriots are out of the playoffs. And when it happens remember I told you it would.

Unlikely.

Conisdering there have been other national writers etc who have said theyve had sources say McCarthy's name had been circulating around the building even as far back as the weeks prior to Rivera's firing

Plus he is "saying the right things"

which I pointed out how Hurney has talked Tepper into convincing he's the right guy.

Yeah, I am obviously being facetious.

I will say that I have a significant amount of concern if we don't make our front office hire(s) before we get a head coach. Tepper is not a football guy, period. I would like another football guy in the room talking to him about this decision on a daily basis rather than Marty Hurney.

For me McDaniels would be the bottom tier fug no coach. McCarthy the meh he could be good but could be bad wait and see mid tier coach. Stefanski would be the fug yea let’s see what this hungry dude’s got ideal, most exciting coach to hire.

And then there’s the wildcard  Harbaugh that’d make me think

To be fair, lots of guys who didn't do so great on their first head coaching stint did a lot better their second time around.

Marv Levy is one example. And of course, there's that guy McDaniels works for.

..pete carroll too i  believe

"Inquired about" equals "clubhouse leader" to Mister.  Clearly Tepper  hasnt inquired about anyone else in this search.....lol

There is still hope but it's sounding like Tepper is lining up to be another Billionaire making terrible football decisions and fielding a crap product. If Hurney is helping hire the next coach it sounds like a lock that this is more of the same. Within a half of a month after the draft we will know which way he is taking the team but so far I have to say the only good decisions he has made is on the business side. (Ron shouldn't have been the coach this year and that fact was proven right yet Hurney is still here contaminating the team).

Fug McCarthy and McDaniels, go ahead and take that Browns job and McSharty can go to the Jags.

It means we were interested last year. Volin added that he expects us to be interested this year as well.

And there's technically nothing concrete on anybody at this point, though people like Albert Breer believe McDaniels is the top target.

Also CBS had an article with the top 5 potential landing spots for McCarthy

And the panthers were #1

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/mike-mccarthy-needs-football-eyeing-2020-return-five-potential-landing-spots-for-former-packers-coach/

This would be terrible news. Id rather have freakin Marvin Lewis. What a terrible option this would be. Imagine having Hurney and McCarthy.... my word

Good Lord...  none of the front runners sound appealing at all.  McDaniels won't mount to much, as none of Belichick's tree outside of O'Brien have ever been worth a crap as a HC (prolly bc they can't bring NE's film crew with them lol).  And as I said before, McCarthy is literally the offensive version of Rivera.  Yuck.

I just don't like McCarthy. His success was in a time I was a teenager and after that he was surrounded by a bad division and a great QB. Nothing in this says he's good for the Panthers. I rather risk it with McDaniels.

The only place McDaniels should be head coach of is Northeastern Southwest Delaware Tech State A&M.  Yes, he was 11-17 with the Broncos.  That is the good news.  The bad news is he won his first 6, meaning they were 5-17 after that and the Broncos had to bring in John Fox to stabilize things after he was flushed out.  I thought they were going to use real bullets when they fired him.

Keep him in New England, the Pats deserve him.

Yeah the Broncos fans I know openly laugh at me wen I mention his appears to be under consideration for us.

One of the said "Doesn't your owner think the fans have suffered enough over the last two years?"

    • Teddy was immediately successful too, then he got hurt. I'm taking the other side of your trade. You are completely dismissing the impact of Teddy's injury and how it delayed his progression. You will be proven wrong about why Big Time Teddy is here, just watch. Your pitfall is you don't understand how Tepper assesses value and pays for it accordingly...  It's ok to have diametrically opposing views, relax fella!
    • lol No one is getting charged because there are no membership cards there is no leadership structure and set positions, no political plan, murders etc. A group of individuals. That’s it. Trump is the worst at bluffing. The worst! Remember how many times he complained about SNL because they make fun of him? What a man, huh! Check the Dates    Then there is twitter. That  executive order is pretty much worthless. Why? Because of the law the Congress passed in the ‘90s which pretty much Is now a check on his power. In order to change it Barr would have to draft it then Pelosi would have to take it up. Fat fuging change fat boy.  Trumps loves making announcements regardless of what the outcome would be.. That’s why the majority of his executive orders are either struck down in court on arrival (THE ACTIVIST JUDGES DAY ON TWITTER  AND THE HUDDLE) anyone?) or they didn’t even bother signing it. Just announcing it was good enough for his base. They don’t know any better. Remember Muslim Brotherhood? The Cartels? Bottom line, He’s a blowhard, but gotta give him credit. If you ask one of his die hards either on TB or on twitter about  any of this they would swear the executive orders fixed everything and they’re awesome.Anything contrary to that is fake news. Just ask bill. What’s country and what a time to fug with these assholes.
    • nah.  You simply argued as if my initial post was a response to your altered statement.  But I’ll be happy to now respond to your clarification of the post I initially replied to.  Still seems like a bad take IMO.  Saying that is just that.  Everyting isn’t a middle finger.  Why would you want to hijack the protests?   Or broaden them if the word hijack is too aggressive of language. They just started.  Maybe talk to some more AA that are involved before you run with that idea.      There is no magic number.  Has any AA said it sounds like a good idea?   Maybe start there before you do it.
