REPORT: the Panthers don't expect to draft a quarterback early in this class

Recommended Posts

I’m doing a mock draft with my seven-year-old daughter and our dog. No, I’m not kidding. I’ll post it when it’s done, sometime next month. I swear to God, I hope the dog wins.

The only way they can truly fug the up is if they give Cam a contract with a ton of long-term guaranteed money before seeing if he can stay healthy and still play at a high level. A new contract wouldn't be a real fug up if it didn't have a lot of guaranteed money in it.

But you have to consider what Can would agree to...there is no way he agrees to that kind of contract. Plus Hurney wouldn’t ‘insult’ Cam like that. I see it going two ways, Cam proves himself or Hurney gets all giddy seeing Cam slinging around the football again and overpays for one of his picks to be the QB of the future without playing an NFL snap.

You've got to wax off your vehicle to keep it shiny

My college girlfriend's best friend one day decided to wax her car, but something interrupted her before she could take the wax off. She drove around in a car covered with wax for a week.

This was around the same time that The Karate Kid was shown on campus.

Jokes were made.

If Cam comes back why would we draft a QB at all?  We would have 3 QBs under contract.  Technically Allen is a ERFA, but he's not going anywhere.  Maybe a day 3 guy just in case Grier looks like poo again, but Hurney ain't about to give on his boy this soon, so I doubt it.

I honestly think it's in the best interest of both sides to let him play out this season. If he balls out, give him another big money deal.

Damn, bro. You really are old. You were probably in college when I was born. LOL!

7: Carolina Panthers QB Justin Herbert, Oregon

6 OF 38

Herbert may not last until the Panthers pick at # 7 .He is what you picture a modern-day quarterback to play like. He's big (6'6", 227 lbs), strong-armed, mobile and isn't afraid to pull the ball down and run for yards when plays break down. On the flip side, there are some concerns with spotty accuracy (passes tend to sail high) and his inexperience getting through progressions in the Oregon offense.

These concerns were quieted some during Senior Bowl week when Herbert was nearly flawless, which could be enough for the Carolina Panthers to feel very good about what they're getting Day 1 and his positional upside.

They are not drafting a QB early because they want to see what they have in Grier. At least Rhule seemed high on him when Rhule was at Baylor.

That’s a write up for Grier.  Mobile and inaccurate.  Hurney gets the best tackle on the board instead.

Cam helps, but I think this has to do with the QB class being weak in this draft after Burrow/Tua. If neither are realistic you will be better off just rolling with Cam than taking a gamble on the other QB's.

Also keeping Cam hurts our chances at a top QB next year. I hope the Panthers know what they are doing.

So we roll with Will Grier the whole season and bring back Washington to call the defense.

number 1 pick. I’m taking the year off watching football ha

It's a crappy draft class for QBs. I hope they don't.
