Baylor's Sean Padden hired as VP of Football Operations

Recommended Posts

Does it really matter who they hire if whoever it is still reports to Hurney ?

I thought we hired a capologist for the cap?

My comment was based on Tepper's presser in December.  That was how he described the new position.  But we have always had a financial guy on staff, the previous one left to go with Rivera.

Without More information, it sounds like keeping Hurney forced us to go with someone even less qualifies than him. Yikes, entering nightmare territory and could be a couple of years of bleakness.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he has a BA in accounting and a MS in Higher Education Admin.

Hurney is surrounding himself with people who won’t takeover for him. Sounds like a bad hire and Hurney’s going to be here a long time. SMH.

I don't know that I put this all on Hurney. It is another Baylor guy, so I am gonna guess this one is on Rhule.

This is one hire I don't like at all.  I'm ok with the college coaches because coaching football & leadership translates.  This VP position was supposed to be all about pro scouting/cap management and allow Marty to focus on college scouting.  Padden has 0 experience in the NFL/scouting/salary cap management.

And he will be reporting directly to the Man, the Myth, the Legend himself. It seems as though Marty is still firmly entrenched as the GM of the Panthers for the foreseeable future. Hes the only one with real experience in the league in the FO except for maybe the President? Hard to see him getting replaced at this point

I see the Rhule tie but it's keeping Hurney that disqualified us from beinging in a star like Berry or the NE guy to land this guy. In the end, it is all Tepper's fault. I would have liked to see Rhule get a good shot at succedding but that may be going down the drain with another bad move.

Well Gettleman has successfully deconstructed a successful franchise in NY and is a hair's breadth from getting canned himself. Firing him was the right move, it was hiring Marty Hurney again that was the huge mistake.

We hired a cap specialist already from the Steelers and will still hire an assistant GM which will come after the draft (more than likely will be from the Patriots). This is a role we didn’t even have before, so why complain? I would hate to see some of you in real life. You must carry tissues around 24/7.
