Daytona 500

Recommended Posts

Years ago I used to turn it on the TV on Sundays. Mainly because the sound of the engines worked perfectly as white noise to help my naps on the couch.

NASCAR is no longer a good ol boys sport

Drivers are fitness fanatics, crew chiefs all have engineering degrees, cars are built in multi-million facilities, analytics & cutting edge technology is common place

and yes NASCAR has an attendance issue (I think they have priced tickets too high), & a viewership problem...Brian France has been terrible for the sport, not attracting 18-25 yr old new fans, even though all of the new drivers are of that age...but the good races still bring out the fans

i like cars & I like racing...the cars are like rocket ships going over 200mph on the tracks, tons of strategy involved, & the drivers are highly skilled at driving them

2019 nba all star game ratings 3.8...6.8 million viewers....all time low

2019 Daytona 500 ratings 5.3...9.4 million viewers

Daytona sold out 120k seats today

Let me know what the viewership is like when they're racing in Pocono in June.

Here is looking back at 2019

"The numbers were off only slightly from last year, but NASCAR Pocono viewership still hit a new low.

Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race from Pocono averaged a 1.7 rating and 2.71 million viewers on NBCSN, flat in ratings and down 2% in viewership from last year (1.7, 2.75M), and down 23% and 26% respectively from 2017 (2.2, 3.67M).

Excluding rainouts, Denny Hamlin‘s win posted the smallest audience for the race since at least 2000. It also tied the lowest rating since at least 1998. Just six years ago, ratings and viewership were dramatically stronger at a 3.2 and 5.06 million on ESPN."

Those cars can drive themselves. The cars are over engineered and are a big problem why the sport is dying.

I love watching The Masters. It’s the best Sunday couch nap of the year.

They have not figured out how to run them in a crowd...aerodynamics take air away they the cars get sideways way too easy...new spoiler is supposed to help, it didn’t last week at Busch clash...we will see how they do today, first big race with new spoiler

Again, NASCAR is dying a painfully slow death. There are plenty of reasons why attendance and viewership are embarrassingly low. The cars suck, their are no families and big personalities remaining, it’s a bunch of sissies driving the cars, the season is too long, the tracks suck, the fans are racist, the people who run nascar are morons, is this enough should I keep going
