Sports Illustrated claims we have 48.1 million in dead money this season.

You mean except get rid of the guy who has turned this team to garbage......twice?

I mean, he is a great evaluator of college talent according to Dan Snyder 2.0.

Doesn’t really matter. It will be almost a 4M cap hit to keep either.

If gano is cut we would save about 1.3 mil this season and 3.75 mil next season.  But there would be dead cap of 3 mil this year and 1.5 next.  Just because there is dead cap doesnt mean thee isnt cap savings

What core players do you see on this team that indicate that we can be contenders three years from now?

Personally, I think that's the point.  I think people are getting very caught up in what they see now, and we see often how a team can flip within a few short years in this league.

If the cap space will improve that much, we will sign some of the elite players people clamor for.  Still have CMC, DJ, Burns and likely a few other high 1st round picks to go along with those "splash" signings.  A large part of that equation is Rhule and Brady being as effective as advertised.

For what it's worth I am in no way guaranteeing it.  I just think when you look big picture, he's tearing it all down to build something that he and this coaching staff like for the future.

Savings off a crap contract? We paid him last year for nothing. We have to pay him more for nothing, or more to play. You can’t act like it’s OK for a PK to cost 10M for half a season, but hey we don’t have to pay him 5.2M in 2021. That’s great. And you wonder why we are in such a mess.

Make a bunch of big free agent signings is how you doom your future, not build for success. Go back and look at all the previous "offseason" winners and their success rates. It's not pretty.

I agree that this is a building process but it has been torn down to the extent that I don't really see much chance of it being a competitive team for 4-5 years at the earliest. Unless we do go out and become big spenders in free agency, which will likely doom us for the future and repeat the "boom and bust" cycle.

Because I’m lazy and haven’t adjusted yet. But I have been trying. Now, what does that have to do with your laundry list of excuses for everything this team does wrong? Anything else about your team you want to discuss?

Then why are the Panthers  the only team with 50M of dead cap. And what are all these magical savings. Dead cap is mainly from bad contracts. Which is about all that have been signed in past two years.

We saved 30M off of Matt Kalil’s awful 5 year contract. Or did we pay 25M for one year of suck. That not saving money. That’s admitting a mistake.

That's what happens in major rebuilds. What do you expect?

No. This is what happens when you hire Marty Hurney to help pick a GM and then Marty Hurney picks Marty Hurney; Marty Hurney then makes Marty Hurney the highest paid GM in the league because that's what Marty Hurney does.

But, all the moves from last year indicated "win now" mode. It's just that almost all of them failed.

That's a pretty good summary of Marty as a GM.

Even with that dead money we will still have almost $90 mil in cap space in 2021.

True. But, we can still say that contracts have been poorly judged by whomever was giving them out. Funny to think that last year was our all-in year considering how bad they were.

Can someone explain Luke's contract to me? I thought for some reason if a player retired on his own accord he would forfeit majority of that money. Since we didn't cut him, trade him, etc. and he decided to walk away on his own it seems odd we owe him so much
