Which one of you losers is this?

You're calling them "so called fans" because they like one player that happens to not be a Panther anymore.

You can be a fan of Cam Newton, and even what the Patriots or any other team/player is doing, and still 100% be a hardcore Panthers fan.

I mean, I appreciated the hell out of what that safety for the Raiders was doing this weekend. He was all over the field, and letting guys know it after plays. But that still doesn't mean I don't like it or get a good laugh out of it when CMC spiked the ball at his feet intentionally.

It is called being a fan of passion and competitiveness. You can also be that as well as a Panthers fan.

You (and a whole hell of a lot of others) need to stop gatekeeping Panthers fandom by your own standards, and let people appreciate the team, and football as a sport, how the hell they want to.

There could be a very strong argument made that blind allegiance to anything Panthers related makes you less of a fan than actually being passionate enough in your own resolve to have an opinion contrary to what the organization does.

It draws parallels to our own society.

Wtf are you talking about? My original post was about someone who completely abandoned the Panthers and is now a Patriots fan just because Cam joined them. Stop trying to make this a discussion about something it’s not

I’ve been a panther fan since I was in middle school so obviously I want this team to succeed. Pointing out we wasted Cam’s (and Luke for that matter) talents with subpar coaching and GMs doesn’t make me less of a fan or strictly a Cam fan. Or like you said wanting Cam to succeed and have a great rest of his career doesn’t make me less of a panther fan. Some people on this board insinuate that by saying dumb poo like “go be a patriots fan then!”

I was really impressed with the coaching staff this past game. For college coaches with close to zero NFL experience they did not at all look out of their element. They were aggressive and smart. It was promising. Doesn’t mean I can’t point out what I think was a better option for us for the short term and long term. As well as pointing out that people were fans of Cam not the team and that brought more people, excitement to this franchise. That’s gone now until we either A. Start winning consistently season after season or B. Get another superstar at the qb position.

teddy is a great dude, leader and a solid qb. But we’re not gonna be making deep runs consistently in the playoffs with him unless we have a stacked team around him. You need an elite talent at qb to mask deficiencies in other areas because it is very hard to hit consistently in the draft.  We can win some with teddy, he’s an above average game manager but we should all be wanting more. There’s nothing wrong with pointing that out. So I want us to be in the best position to draft a top tier talent at qb in 2021. We are a young team, so that’s fun. And it looks like we have a pretty good staff that is also learning. So we’ll see what happens. I just hope we do not get stuck in mediocrity like we have been.

edit: also something I haven’t seen pointed out but I’m glad this young defense is playing against Brady Brees and Ryan twice a year. These are great learning experiences

You referenced the Panthers as a "mediocre franchise with horrible decision making." That's debatable in reference to the past (but it may be true), but we have a new regime and it's much too early to determine If we're headed toward mediocrity or will continue "horrible decision making." Releasing Cam was a business decision, whether people like it or not. With the general circumstances the way they were, I'm certainly not going to say that was so much a horrible decision, as it was a decision.

I would’ve ideally kept Cam playing on the last year and see where he was. I wouldn’t have signed Bridgewater regardless.

we have a new owner and coaching staff. Keeping Marty Hurney as GM is a mediocre/horrible decision imo. So my hope is that things get shaken up in that department like Tepper has done elsewhere. I get releasing Cam if you don’t sign Bridgewater. You let Grier take his lumps and set yourself up for a top 3 draft pick. That may actually still happen but with signing a qb to 60+ million that we didn’t need to do.

Tanking a season is only an option for message boarders! Brady and Teddy were familiar with one another. At best, he's a viable starter, at worst, he's a bridge to our eventual starter. You don't play to tank a season. That's not worthy of a pro franchise!

It's pretty pathetic to see all the cam fans that jumped ship, and was happy to do so.

Of course this was all predicted when the masses of cam fans joined this forum within minutes of him being drafted.

Good riddance.

You’re not actively tanking a season. You’re still developing younger players, including Grier. Teaching Grier to be a serviceable back up. He was a 3rd round pick. So obviously the franchise thinks a lot about him.

Playing with a guy who isn't ready is effectively tanking the season.

Players greater than Grier have played behind seasoned veterans for years! If he can't learn behind the starter, that's his issue. Moreover, we're under a new regime, and I'm not sure of any loyalty to anyone, much less Grier.

We can agree to disagree. Rhule has spoken highly of Grier having played against him when he was at wvu. But he was a 3rd round pick for a reason.

my ultimate point is we’re probably going to get a top 3 pick even with teddy starting so we should’ve just let Grier learn on the job behind a better oline and better receiving options. You can call that tanking if you want.
