SAINTS 14-10

when losses mount, teams can start to turn in the lockeroom, hoping theres trouble in paradise and giving up on that route is a sign of it
-
Colts gave up 26 and 27 1st rounders IIRC for Gardner.
-
Wow what a run by Shough

Saints take the lead

The Atl game was an anomaly. 200 air yards with 250 YAC. That may be a record day on the stat sheet but that is not normal production. Does Bryce get credit for Tremble running over 5 Atl defenders for 45 extra yards? He didn't beat a Super Bowl contender by himself. Seems I remember an interception in the end zone, one returned for a touchdown and a strip sack turnover when the Rams were driving. Pretty sure the D had a significant role in that win with those takeaways. Without that defensive TD, that's a loss. And it's not like our offense was in a shootout keeping pace with theirs. They were driving on our defense all day long at will. That pick in the end zone. Like a TD or field goal. That's at least a 10-17 point swing from those 2 plays by the defense. You think we were making that up? It took 2 4th down gambles to score because we couldnt sustain drives. And Bryce with 20 passing attempts all day is not leading an offense that was a 2:1 run to pass ratio. You can say Bryce had a great game. I say he had 3 great plays. The rest of the time, he was invisible. You're arguing he's going to get the option based of an anomaly game he hasn't come close to repeating in 3 seasons and team win, heavily influenced by takeaways and defensive scoring. And in SF, he didn't look like a rookie. He looked like the QB that got benched week 2 of his 2nd year. I think even discussing the option is asinine at this point. Let him finish the year. If he puts up 4 more ATL games, offer the 5th. He puts up another SF or 2, the 5th year should never be mentioned again.

Baker just threw an awful INT. Oh wait, the receiver just quit running. Oof. Ole boy pulled a KB.

I think some people are missing a simple point. If you put a ton of resources into a guy, you're going to give him every chance to succeed. That's reasonable, not stupid. But that benefit of the doubt has its limits, and three years is pretty much the limit. Unless he consistently plays very well the last four weeks he either will be gone or at least will have a fight on his hands. You can't just look at the past and assume it will continue into the future.

Yeah, that trade for Sauce was made with the understanding that they had their QB situation taken care of with Jones. With him popping his Achilles in December he's probably out for at least some of next season too. Starting put the season on the PUP list is probably the best case scenario for Jones and the Colts.

I am ordering a replica Lombardi with a Panther logo on it somewhere. I will hoist it one day. Yes, I said "Hoist."

Eagles and Lions on a level below ourselves and the Cowboys?!?! Uh, what now??!?! KC being on another level below that is also interesting, but harder to fault that one when they have a worse chance at making the playoffs than either the Lions or Eagles

Went sideways on many successful defensive coaches after a a couple years of inconsistency. They never got a break after getting to championship games and winning the division title. Where's the logic in staying with a struggling defensive coach for half a decade? Capers. Fangio, Seifert, Fox, Rivera, Wilks. Why does Evero get half a decade of chances when these other coaches were tossed after a year or two of struggles while already proving their success as a DC/HC? I slotted the Panthers for a 6 win season and expected needed changes before another fall. If the Panthers can't beat Saints, Seahawks and Bucs, then changes need to be made. This is the 4 game stretch that determines the future of the team. All are must win games (maybe one loss to the Bucs will be allowed with a 10 win record), but no one deserves a long term contract with their track record.

It also REALLY fugs up the Colts future plans.
-
Oh absolutely. I want the division to be wrapped week 17

Complete squandering of his talent being on the Bengals.
-
This is the very definition of recency bias…

I mean we have no idea what will happen, with any certainty. But there is pudding that has proved he is totally capable of going right back to overwhelmed/outmatched the very next game following a record setting day. IOW he definitely looks like he has improved but has also looked like it is still 2023. Everybody wants to hand out the trophy now. Every time he plays well. Best to not do that and see what happens. Really looking forward to the Saints game.

The Bengals are a real NFL team when Burrow plays. Amazing what a great QB does for the entire team.
-
and I think its possible with the dolphins playing well lately and as we see with the saints today anything is possible in division games. A loss moves them closer to us potentially being able to split. just best to pull for the taints and see what happens.
-
I hate that happened. He tried to play through it to help his team with a playoff push and its gonna end up costing him tens of millions of dollars. He'll probably be signing another one or two year deal to prove he can comeback from it instead of either getting tagged next year or signing a big extension. Just sucks, but ultimately he'll be just fine financially after all that money he fleeced the Giants out of.
-
Garrett may break the NFL record today. Lol
-
It really sucks. It was nice to see his career resurgence there.
-
Still have to beat the bucs twice and go 3-1. We need two losses from them to be able to split
