Mr. Scott, either you are a person working within a football team or you are a genius. I would bet you are both. Love reading your posts.

He said the ball moved so he stopped which there was a little shift but I don't believe his explanation
-
Oh, I think Hubbard's patience developed the years prior. Probably when the OL wasn't as good. Rico comes in and just sees holes. Hits them hard.
-
Fair point. He did post an explanation of what he says happened but I forget what he said.
-
again, I missed everyone here crediting Mike Remmers for helping us get to the Super Bowl. Bump those kudos for me. We are going to improve our weak spots? there are literally people arguing we should pick up Bryce's 5th year and he should be the starter next year. I'm not arguing people in Carolina are going to think like me. The people in Carolina have done idiotic building for years now. Which I have been very vocal about the entire Tepper era. I would like for them to stop being stupid.....and this is literally the place you would voice such. I yearn for a rude awakening. It's literally what I am lobbying for. To match a coach/scheme and QB that fit together for the first time in 4 years.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
Jon Snow replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
I said they've never took a snap from under center. Thats the problem. The nfl is adopting it out of necessity more than preference. -
I'm concerned with stats because they can show more than just numbers. They show trends. As an example, if Bryce went 20/25 for 250 yards but 200 of that was YAC, that means he only averaged about 2.5 yards per throw in the air before the receiver. As a defender, that means 2 things. Shitty tackling, and an extreme amount of short passing at or close to the line of scrimmage. It changes how you can play defense, and offense. It's the reason Bryce was able to complete those 2 passes on 4th down Sunday. Obvious running situation that the defense played based on the likelihood the play would be a run, based off the numbers. DC called the pass play because it was a higher chance of success given what the defense was likely playing. Bigger risk, bigger reward. If it works, you're a genius, if not, well, should have followed the numbers. Obviously this is a made up example, but it shows that stats matter, if applied the right way, at the right time. Just looking at a stat sheet doesn't tell the entire story. You have to look at everything. But ignoring stats when trying to analyze any player's performance is just making it harder on yourself.

Bryce might be the most frustrating player we've ever had.
Mr. Scot replied to OneBadCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is where we get into the distinction of "better player" vs "more important position". Bryce doesn't frustrate me as much as he just plain mystifies me. I sometimes feel like I have no idea what I'm seeing. I do however think it's fair to label him as "overachieving" in the context of our season. Legette? He frustrates me because I know what he ought to be capable of, but then I see what he actually does. -
Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
LinvilleGorge replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
Where are you finding these under center QBs in the college game? The college game is almost exclusively shotgun. It's not just the QBs being drafted, it's the college game period and honestly in recent decades the college game has been driving the NFL game more so than vice versa. Shotgun used to be a small percentage of NFL snaps, basically just obvious passing downs and stuff like the read option, RPOs, "mobile" QBs, etc. were just scoffed at by the NFL. All of these things are staples of a modern NFL offense. -
The amount of people I've seen whining and crying about this "dirty hit" on a QB tightroping down the sideline trying to get a first down with no signs of going out of bounds is crazy. https://x.com/AlexWilsonESM/status/1995669994479518142

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
Jon Snow replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
I think the qb's being drafted have a lot to do with that. Every one of them has never took a snap from under center. Have you noticed that Canales is putting Young under center more? It has been helping sell that play action and the run game as well. It needs to be a healthy mix to open up the playbook. I'm not sure what the answer is. -
I think we're at the part of the season where the proverbial "rookie wall" may be affecting him a little. Don't care though. I'm a hundred percent glad he plays for us.

Mrs. Rhule drafts Chuba Mrs. Tepper drafts Bryce who's the next Mrs to draft someone for this team?

Thoroughly... Jerome Bettis once took part in a game where he had five carries for negative one yard. Did those stats define his importance in that game? I'm always gonna look at the role somebody plays as infinitely more important than their stats.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
LinvilleGorge replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
Finding a college QB that has experience working from under center is basically impossible to find at this point. Hell, even the NFL has become heavy shotgun. Almost two thirds of NFL offensive snaps are out of the shotgun and nearly 70% of from under center snaps are running plays. There are only four teams in the league this year who have ran more offensive snaps from under center than out of shotgun. The Vikings are heaviest in the league from under center at 70%. The Ravens are heaviest in the league out of shotgun at a whopping 96%. -
It is what it is

Hell, at least a small portion of our own YAC stats have been contributed by a guy we'd all like to see replaced. I'll repeat my own broken record statement once again...I'm just not that concerned with stats.
-
You have to pay him. Joe Thomas he is not, but he's the best LT we've had in well over a decade.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
Jon Snow replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
Mendoza is probably the most accurate under pressure of the group coming out. I like his composer which will help tremendously in the nfl. But he works solely from the shotgun just like all the rest. Moore, from the little bit I've watched can sling it but he's irradic under pressure. Most of these guys coming out are. Sellers? Lol, just no. -
I knew it was someone up the chain of command. It was a steal for DM, even if he is just adequate. Finding players that can come in and play without losing too much. Hunt is a very difficult player to out play.
-
You can try, but it won't actually matter. Every single team in the NFL has weak spots, even the best teams. The "weak links" are still (rightly) given credit for their role in big wins, just like the best players on roster aren't exempt from blame for losing efforts... ...because it's a team sport. Acting like our team profile is somehow worse off isn't realistic for one... very... simple... reason. We have... a winning record. Are we gonna try to improve our weak spots? Of course. So is everyone else. But if you think the people in charge of those decisions look at Bryce the same way you do, I'd say you're in for a very rude awakening.

Scott FOWLER on Chuba in Observer
DaveThePanther2008 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
My opinion, Chubba used to play the same way. When he saw Rico doing it he realized that he wasn't running the same way he was before he got hurt.
