  1. Past hour
  2. I never mentioned the term dot, i said they were perfect throws. Those were clutch throws on 4th down that won the game, just giving the man credit.
  3. That's still semantics then as to what you'd call this specific pass. My point was THIS is the type of pass that deserves superlatives to be used to describe it, whatever you want to call said superlative is sure, personal opinion. But that's my generic stance in this thread, the pass needs to be special to be called "slinging dots downfield" or whatever else you want to call it. Those two TD passes were certainly good passes, I'm not trying to say they were bad. But in reality, they were pretty standard throws for an NFL QB to be able to make (and honestly, pretty standard for most college QB's as well), hence why I can't agree with calling it dot, dart, dime, or whatever else you want to use.
  4. I think the biggest issue with Young is that when he has a bad game he has a really bad game. There's no middle ground. If he can manage to limit those to 1 or 2 games a season he might has a chance.
  5. I've seen a few. Laser throw into triple coverage that misses the defender's hands by a hair and you ask yourself how did the receiver even see it much less catch it. Those are darts. Perfect placed pass on an insanely critical play for a first down or TD. There can be short yardage darts, but they've got a higher criteria to meet, IMO.
  6. Gotta say, Im impressed with Tmac as is. Coker, I'm excited for his development. Legette is fuggin with my mind though. He has all the potential in the world but just cant seem to lock in. Hopefully that switch flips and he has a resurgence similar to his last year at South Carolina. Worst case, we got another guy who I think needs more snaps... Tremayne. Hell of a blocker... should be a Panther longer than most expect. Back to the OP, we'll see if he gets OROY but I do like him more than rookie DJ and Kelvin at this point.
  7. No, I would call it a bullet or zip pass but I would not argue against it being either.
  8. One trend I'm seeing in these repetitive circular conversations that ultimately go nowhere is the need for people who are super defensive of him to hit the "reset button" as if he is still a rookie. Even if we can look past the 49ers loss the Saints loss is just completely inexcusable. They still only have 2 wins and one of them was against us in our own stadium. That is poverty plain and simple. At the end of the day where we are with Bryce Young is he is having Kyle Allen level peaks in between very underwhelming perfomances. And at the end of the day Kyle Allen only got 13 games. Thirteen. And he was undrafted. Bryce Young is 42 games in and he is a #1 pick. Nobody is being unfair to him folks. But there's no need to continue to eviscerate one another through the bye week. We will have the answers we seek in New Orleans. Because frankly my expectations are high. We should not play down to the level of our competition against them. Honestly I expect Bryce and company to blow them out. If we are serious about winning the division and making the playoffs for the first time in many years that is what it is going to take.
  9. The player. He doesn't know how to play th qb position. He can't play it in college and he sure as hell won't be able to play it in the nfl. He's just big and can run fast. Oh, he can throw the football real far. But a qb he is not and you cannot make him one. Its a waste of even a 7th round pick.
  10. Sorry this is 4 yards instead of 3, but I think that's still the "same thing" in this instance... you wouldn't call this pass a dot, dart, or anything else like that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_no5YnIrAb4 4 yard pass he had to get around a DL's helmet, over another defenders arm, out of reach of the DB, and still allow the receiver to make the catch. THAT pass was a dot/dart/dime, and if you disagree with that, then sure, we'll never see eye to eye on this one.
  11. I use to work the late nights and sports talk had a great show hosted by Ben Maller. He called himself a degenerate gambler. He had a segment where he bet against coin flips, more than a few times the coin would win that days games and stay ahead of his picks. Funny stuff, callers made the show good too. He also had a get rich idea and shared it with the listeners. He said - " Send me one dollar in the mail and I'll send you the secret to getting rich " ' He'd send you back a piece of paper saying to ask people for money advice by sending you money ".
  12. Just checking in, have we locked the definition of “dot” into Merriam-Webster yet?
  13. I look at this the same way I look at my golf game. If I can just go from the occasional birdie to consistently make birdies, I can become a pro. But that will never happen. And I view Bryce the same way. A lot of QBs can have a good game or two, but doing it consistently is something they will never be able to do.
  14. A Dot is any type of pass where precision, timing and accuracy are needed. Dots, darts, dimes. All the same. Deep lofting passes, tight window throws, quick passes under pressure, placing a ball exactly where it needs to be in difficult situations. If the receiver does a dance or celebration after the catch it was probably a dot. Now, slinging I take exception with. If the throw is off schedule that is more slanging. Slinging is a more over the top motion.
  15. You've lost all credibility with me on that my friend. Never in the history of football has a 3 yard pass ever been called a dot, dart or anything other than a 3 yard pass. I'm not even going to discuss it further with you if your going to twist yourself in knots like this.
  16. Roger that, one good part of Christ's injury is he should come back on the cheap for 26. You maybe right and I have over valued Mays too, still Im few millions below sportac(I feel 8ish)- https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/market-value/_/id/77076/cade-mays If they are keeping lewis and hunt, provided they are healthy, dang near anyone will look good at C. I think Corbert is coming back as well, unless he is on the "only starting" deal. Yea, faaaaarrrrr too early for draft stuff, but I feel strongly that the Panthers need to double down on the QB and edge market. That's with the growth of Nic and prince. Pat Jones is under contract, but missing time with a back mean he's a total unknown, as in the Brooks group...you can not count on him. I was wrong about DJ too, hes been the biggest let down for me this year. Thus they need edge, not going to post my 287th BY post, if he's here or not, they need young comp. Right now the nerds are saying great-good edge class, still too early and teams always overdraft them too.
  17. NOT putting the ball in harms way is within your control. Whether or not the other team capitalizes is not. You people go to incredible lengths to other the convo when it comes to BY9.
  18. I think it's more situation specific than throw specific. A "dot", "dart", "dime", whatever you want to call it is all the same to me. It could be a 3 yard pass or a 30 yard pass, but it's more about fitting it in a tight window, getting it just over or just under a defender's reach, putting it in the perfect place for a WR to make a back shoulder toe tap catch on the sideline, etc. But in general, if we're talking about the type of passes for those 2 TD's, a touch pass where the WR is running past the DB and no safety help over the top, that needs to be a 40, if not 50 yards downfield for me to ever call a throw like that a "dot", "dart", "dime", etc. Throwing that pass 20 yards is basically just practice routes against air. They get credit for making the play in the pressure situation of a game, but I just could never justify calling a pass like that one of those terms, even if it was in the final minute of the SB to win the game. I'll also say that Bryce has made many of these throws in his career, I've always said his biggest strength is placement of touch passes. I just wouldn't have ever classified those two TD's this week as such.
  19. i think he is just getting the best db every game. Coker and the screen and run game has been the recipient of that. Legette is just turning into a good blocking WR.
  20. Also you are nitpicking that pass. He put it right where it needed to be and in stride. I am as big as critical as anyone about Young but I know a great pass when I see one. Those 2 passes we dots, dimes whatever the hell you want to call it. Saying otherwise makes you petty and you lose all credibility.
  21. If someone is telling you how to get rich, 9.9999 times out of 10 you are going to get taken for a ride and they will likely end up broke. Pro teams getting in bed with Veges will only lead to a richer NFL and a richer Veges built on the backs of people losing money. Love the guy who said to only bet what you can afford to lose. Agree 100.
  22. I'd be very interested in seeing someone point me to a post saying any Panthers fans are unhappy with winning? We're happy the team is winning, but we're still unhappy with Bryce's play ON THE WHOLE. Yes, we recognize he's had a handful of good games, but even in them, he's still not making the type of plays/throws that high level QB's make, at least not on a consistent basis, one or two of those throws every few weeks does not make him a high level QB. Especially when every single one of those "high level throws" he's ever had are touch passes, as he's physically unable to properly drive the ball downfield into small windows, which for me, has and will always be my biggest issue with Bryce. Many of us are also able to look at what we see in front of us on the field and extrapolate that out to the future, and we don't see Bryce's play as a way for sustainable success. If he was anyone else other than our own #1 overall draft pick, say if he was a mid rounder now in his 3rd season here or if he was a FA we picked up at some point, the same fans bowing down to him right now would be calling for him to be replaced and saying he was holding back the team.
