As an edge, if we get 2 good years (8-12 sacks) out of him, this contract is a bargain. I think he will be a better pro than college player--Princely is the wildcard. if he steps in and up, watch out.
-
Ward was cheap in the grand scheme of things. Bryce Young? Not so much. Just food for thought when contemplating Cam Ward.

give some props to Andy Dalton
Pejorative Miscreant replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Anybody that can make an NFL roster for 15 years let alone start for many of them deserves props in my opinion. Seems like a good dude and good teammate. I think he adds value to being on the roster but I dont think there are many situations where I want to see him playing on Sundays in a Panther uniform. -
My hope is that nearly all the top QBs return for another year. With NIL, the need for a quick money grab is waning. Only a couple of the top guys will not be eligible for returning in '26. We need to see what Bryce looks like with no excuses and short of a full face plant he'll get to year 4 with the Panthers. Year 5? That will be a different story and one if he's not a lock as the future of the franchise for the next 10 years, we can hopefully find his replacement in the the '27 draft.

Only time will tell if he was worth the pick. The Titans had to pick a qb. Cam Ward was the best one available. There really isn't much to discuss beyond that.
-
I would have put him in the 4-6 range in the '24 QB draft class. Ward was being discussed among the rest of the QB class before deciding to stay in college and if I remember correctly, that's about where he stacked up on average (4-6). I mean, a 5th round draft pick being the most discussed QB should be all you need to know about the strength of this year's QB draft class. It's not Kenny Pickett's draft class weak, but not that far behind.
-
Let's give Dalton his props for being a average starter for the Bengals for years in a pass happy league. He was never great but never terrible. He is washed now for sure.
-
Chris Simms says Ward would have been the #3 QB (just behind Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels) if you had combined 2024 & 2025 together. Not saying his mouth is a prayer book, but another GM said he'd have been QB5 had he been in the 2024 class. He may not be "#1 overall quality," but it's still very much in the air if he was worth that draft pick. Very much in the air...
-
Had there been a better QB, he wouldn't have been #1. Where do you think he stacked up verses the six first round QBs in 2024? He's okay, but not #1 overall quality. The Titans should be happy, with fanfare and media scrutiny usually comes lofty expectations. Ward flying under the radar shouldn't be an issue for them.
-
Hadn't really thought about it because he's been so out of the spotlight so far, but yeah...

As a veteran of the Huddle, I really miss fat Alice and some of the other trolls. We had some good times. We used to have some heavy hitters here on the huddle before it got so watered down to protect the fee-fees.

We can't ever reach an end to this conversation because you keep reverting back to a perceived view that I am "blaming" him. For what exactly? Losing? That's not true. I am where CRA is on this. Correctly acknowledging Thielen's clear limitations and our clear past emphasis on trying to build a passing offense around him that resulted in the literal worst ranked passing offense is the result of decisions made by the front office. Any "blame" lies there. I do not blame Adam Thielen for taking the money and milking it for all it's worth. Twice. Again. That's on our front office. All I can do is hope that Canales is planning on throwing everything he can at the young receivers. It is critical we do not waste the opportunity for their development in what will in all likelihood be another losing season barring a miracle. Ultimately I get the sense your hardline position and unwillingness to let this go to the point you are repeatedly talking about lack of IQ and calling people dumb (very familiar behavior in this day and age) is being fueled by past conversations in other subforums. As such this only continues to get uglier. So there's no need to go any further.

It's a message board. Discussion is what it's meant for. How does this require explaining? I'm not "running to his defense" as much as I'm pointing out that your take is dumb and you should feel bad for it. Like I said before, you're the equivalent of a failing business blaming your top sales rep who while not putting up stellar numbers is still your top guy and is meeting expectations all the while seemingly giving everyone else in the organization a pass to focus on one of the few things that isn't abjectly broken. Adam Thielen is the least of the Panthers' issues. That's the whole point. You're missing the forest for the small bush. You're blaming an aging WR with a mid-level contract for not being a good #1 when he was brought here to be a veteran presence and solid #3. That's not an Adam Thielen problem. You're blaming the wrong entity.

Guys that will either make or break our Young Quarterback!!

The wording is confusing. The onus is on the moving parts and not the main piece at the center of it all? He hasn't earned that benefit yet. When he has an elite season then we can talk. -

The offense has no excuses to be less than good. The defense is still a massive question mark until they step on the field. Bryce can’t play defense. -
Things like this were always an inevitability. It's up to the front office and the scouting staff to stop blowing drafts. If this makes it all the more consequential then honestly I view it as a good thing. Warm that seat up even more.

This place is tame af compared to the majority of the rest of the internet. But what you see now is a direct effect of all the losing. The Tepper's really have nearly killed this franchise. That cannot be understated.
-
I have no expectations for tonight. As long as the young guys continue to hustle their asses off the future is bright win or lose.

Hope the line only gets better. They came together at end of last season with Bryce barring injuries eill be as good as we have had in many a moon!!! Can't wait and rookies report tomorrow. -
I like the vibe around here. I have seen some of this poo talking threads over there and it is immature poo slinging and insults. I'd rather not.
-
It is good to see them out doing these things together. It will make playing together mean a little more for each person as they build those bonds. I really like what I’m seeing about the team in the off season and it’s starting to give me way more hope and excitement than I want to have!

BREAKING: Nic Squirtin' signed
Davidson Deac II replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If the majority of teams are guaranteeing most of a second rounder's contract, then the impact to our team specifically won't be that bad. Whether it will be bad to the NFL as a whole remains to be seen. -

As others gave already stated- this is all.om Bryce. It's time to put up or shut up. There are no excuses. We have one of the better o lines in franchise history. We have a strong running game with Hubbard, dowdle and Etienne. We have young, talented but unproven te in sanders and Evans We now have one of the deepest wr rooms in franchise history with tmac, x, coker, horn, thielen, and probably renfrow The only one now that can Make or break Bryce is Bryce himself. ( btw writing this- Morgan and Canales have completely rebuilt the entire o in 2 years)
