This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion)
Jay Roosevelt replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
The thing with Bryce is that he has shown that he can play at a pretty high level. Josh Allen/Lamar Jackson high? No, but he's had his moments for sure. He just hasn't been able to develop any consistency week-to-week. It's all high highs and low lows. If we got Falcons/Rams/Cowboys Bryce more than 3 times per year and Packers/49ers/Jets Bryce looked more like Dolphins/Cardinals Bryce we might have something. A more consistent Bryce Young is actually a pretty damn good QB. He won't ever be Justin Herbert or Patrick Mahomes, but that's a QB we can work with long-term. But this week-to-week whiplash where he looks like a different player every other game is far from ideal. -
This matters...
-
If he can come back for the last 2 games great, if not just rest him up for the next season. We've been alright without him.
-
You are correct as of right now. I believed the value shown in the search but that’s if you make 1 or more than one pro bowl. If somehow Bryce makes the pro bowl, his option value is $40M. Making it as an alternate doesn’t count so I’m pretty certain we are safe here. He cannot make more than one this year so he can’t get $46M.

I'm not sure yet

2022 - Panthers are 1-5 - HC was fired the week prior - 3 days before the game CMC is traded to the 49ers. Full #1 overall tank mode in affect - PJ Walker is the starting QB and we are playing Tom Brady and the Bucs. So, obviously, we beat them by 17

...for FedEx Air Player of the Week How many times is it now?

Because we are limited at QB

Adam Thielen Requests and is Granted Release

Fug him.... we eatin 8mil dead money. -
Huh? I hope you meant not very good

Passing yards are misleading. We are a ball control, run first team so we won’t have high passing yards. Some of those teams are always playing from behind which increases passing yardage.
-
Gotta pay the man. The position is too important. Remember what happened when Gross retired.
-
I think that was the same year that we got demolished by the Raiders on Christmas Eve or something like that.
-
I was at that game as well. Warner threw a pick 6 that was almost identical to the Stafford pick 6 to Jackson. I think Jimmy Hitchcock retuned it back down the same sideline for the score. It was super cold that day. I was in the shade pretty much the whole time and it wasn’t pleasant but the win was shocking. The Rams offense was completely shut down like they hadn’t been before.
-
Whatever the cost is, expect the Huddle to act as if they’ll need to take out a second mortgage to pay him out of their own pockets.
-
Youre telling me man. The last year i lived in NC the Panthers went 1-15 and the Heels went 8-20 their worst year ever. Family moved to Arizona that summer and of course we made the Super Bowl the next year and UNC got a natty the year after
-
‘97-‘01 was pretty forgettable besides the whole 1-15 thing. I was convinced the sports gods hated me. I was in High School those 4 years and everything sucked. My HS football team was terrible, the Panthers declined after the NFCCG, George Shinn owned the Hornets, and Dean Smith retired. Dark days, they were.

Oh I agree with having a real one, I'm just always hesitant to declare a rookie at the level of future HoFers, especially given the circumstances on all three of those teams. Still TMac is fuging great. Every game too it feels like we have missed opportunities to him that if the passing game gets cleaned up... He can be even more productive
-
I think this thread got attention on Jstews podcast. They were commenting about fans online discussing coach and QB contracts during an exciting game.
-
Those three touchdown passes were pretty decent, though. Even the most cynical has to agree to that.
-
We have the 25th ranked pass attack. 185 per game average. yeah, those teams suck too. But even the Jags and Saints average more per game putting up over 200 per game. Not saying they aren't bad. But saying we aren't a bottom pass attack is again.....just denial of reality and facts. And it's almost impossible to call the Jags bad....and not us lol. They also have virtually identical ground production per game. All that while putting up more points per game than us. real question is, what are you watching.

SCO96 started following Icky Contract Extension
-
I think Icky was shown steady improvement and really should be entering the prime years of his career that position. He's a first round draft choice that panned out and I think he needs to be resigned. That said, your above formula is correct, but concerning. Icky is Good player and could potentially become great. But, should a 4 year starter at LT that has never been selected for an 1st or 2nd All-Pro team or been selected to a Pro Bowl become receive a new record setting contract and become the highest paid LT in football? We may have to do as you suggested in your post. If he does get that deal, then the financial situation at QB becomes even more concerning. If Young and his agent insist on a contract in line the "QB Market" and you want to retain him you either have to hope he takes a hometown discount (i.e. below market value contract) or have a guy in the wings to replace him when he decides to hit the open market. We still have crucial holes to fill at EDGE, LB, S. It's fun to pretend to be a GM, but in real life we can only imagine how stressful that job really is.

Playoffs!? You wanna talk about playoffs!?

We won @ New Orleans that year. Me and my buddy drove down there the day after Christmas. Great game. Classic Jake to Smitty prayer shot leading to a John Kasay game winner. -
KillaCamNewton started following eerie deja vu

i turn 32 next week so i've basically grown up with the team. one of my earliest memories from my childhood is going to a game after thanksgiving in cold and overcast weather and beating the kurt warner and marshall faulk rams. eerie that it was almost 25 years later to the day, and we beat a super bowl contending rams team on a cold overcast day and strangely enough both games had a panthers pick 6 that ended up being the difference. the game in 2000 put us to 6-7 while sunday's game moved us to 7-6. looking back there's a lot of similarities with the night and day kind of team. that 2000 team swept the defending super bowl champs rams but were swept by the 4-12 falcons. had a dominant MNF win over Favre and the Packers but had a dogfight shootout against the 1-15 chargers. hopefully this year ends better than that team's
