  1. Yesterday
  2. Agreed. Our coaches were better than some of the other dumpster fire teams and we played in the NFC South. That helped. Outside that, a simple look at the roster will very quickly reveal it to be the worst in Panthers franchise history. That was obvious before we had even played a game. It was funny that people were surprised we had a historically bad defense. It was so insanely obvious.
  3. I take the T Mac, Horn Jr, and Renfrow additions as a direct shot over the bow when discussing XL. 1 year of dropsies and he finds himself automatically downgraded to WR2, at best, with the t Mac selection. I really hope he understands the gravity of this. Barring unforeseen circumstances, T Mac will play all but a handful of snaps at WR1. Thielen will be on the field on all third downs, at least. guarantee. Coker will get a ton of snaps. He is just too good to be parked on the bench. JHJ will make the final 53. They will like him returning punts and kicks. He’s has good hands and elite game speed. Dan still can’t bring himself to watch the SB from 22 years ago. How well do y’all think XL’s 3 drops on the final drive of the Eagles game went over? Dan is as serious as a heart attack when it comes to winning and losing. I don’t see him waiting patiently with developing XL if he is killing drives and/or costing the team games. Look no further than Ginn’s career to see what happens to first rounders with suspect hands. I’m crazy, yes, but I do think that if Coker comes on, T Mac is who we hope he is and XL has another year of dropsies, he may end up as trade bait. Coker is going to continue to up his already impressive game. I don’t think anyone will argue that. He has a chip. JHJ has a chip. Thielen is Mr first down. XL better show growth. I just don’t see Dan as the type who is patient with projects.
  4. Sounds like the knee is cooked. Wish him the best though
  5. Why is it so difficult for you to understand it has literally NOTHING to do with the cap hit of these 2nd rounders, like not even 1% of the issue here. If anything, it's "draft pick value vs future cap implications of being forced to give fully guaranteed deals to FA signings" and if that's the case, then the Agents will lose every single one of these battles, because teams aren't going to go down that path, as those are massive cap impact implications. There is a reason the #2 pick of the 2nd Round got his fully guaranteed deal and after that, the only other player to sign was the #1 pick of the round, who also then got a fully guaranteed deal. And spoiler alert, it's not because they're afraid of the minimal cap hit of these players, and they won't be swayed to give them the deals because of the draft pick value. If half the teams had signed their 2nd Rounders by now and they all gave the fully guaranteed deals, then I'd say you have more of an argument. But the proof is in the pudding, the teams don't want to give these 2nd rounders the guaranteed deals and I don't think the agents will win in the end, the players have more to risk than the teams in this instance. That the Browns haven't even signed their other 2nd rounder, who was only 3 picks later, is kinda telling to me. It says they knew they were going to be forced to give their first pick the fully guaranteed contract because of Higgins and then are drawing the line in the sand after that, nothing else would make sense for that deal to not be done yet unless that's the case.
  6. He’s also from High Point. Bring him home!
  7. 143 tackles 80 solo 2 FF 2 FR 2 INT 29 Years old Checks a lot of boxes
  8. Released by the Bengals today. Went to NC State. Would be good addition to LB core. Why not?
  9. I hope for the best. I feel like it better for Dan's job security.
  10. it helps that Bryce and Tmac worked out a bit this off-season before the draft and are familiar with each other's game from way back. Sure Bryce put in a good word for him to the coaching crew ahead of time That california connection goin' work, I hope
  11. Sign but make it mostly incentive driven contract
  12. My biggest problem is I think the players he likes don't really work in the modern NFL. You mentioned the wr room being a lot better, is it? It has the potential to be. Last year when we traded up to get Legette, they said they traded up to take him specifically because he was a true X receiver. Now this year they take TMac because they say he is and that XL was out of posisition last year. Im not sold on Tmac yet just like I wasn't sold on XL last year. If TMac isn't a lot better than last XL was last season then that's back to back first rounders in one position that would still need a huge amount of work. Hopefully Tmac is what everyone seems to think he will be, I'm just not so sure, but them declaring XL was a true X receiver after the draft last year and what they're saying now should at least give you pause about their receivers evaluation because it means they definitely made a mistake one way or another.
  13. This is why they'll lose. The draft pick value is substantial vs. minimal cap impact.
  14. You keep mentioning the impact on the salary cap, but that's literally not the point with all these 2nd Rounders, it's all about precedent and it being a slippery slope that would lead to more fully guaranteed contracts for veterans. That's what the teams are making sure this doesn't get to, because yes, you're right, the guarantees for a 2nd rounder won't have significant cap implications if the player doesn't work out. But you give that fully guaranteed 3-4 year contract to a FA who then shits the bed in year 1 and never regains the form that got them the contract, then yes, it's going to screw up your cap management and won't be a rounding error. And you can say it's a big leap to go from guaranteeing a 2nd round pick's contract to a big FA signing, but it's really not. Once teams start giving them out, it's only going to keep growing and be insisted upon by agents in other situations and once the ball starts rolling down the hill, it's going to be impossible to stop it's momentum. Also, the only reason a 2nd rounder's contract would be a rounding error, is explicitly because contracts aren't guaranteed and teams can finagle the cap hits with various tactics. Once contracts become more and more guaranteed, that won't be as easy to do, if even possible at all, and those individual rounding errors become serious problems in totality.
  15. Yep! Jake wanted to stay. It’s been reported a lot that he did. Tulsky waited too long to give him that contract.
  16. He's still unsigned, due to injury I think. He should be able to play this year, but I think teams are just waiting for more clarity before signing him.
  17. I would rather trade for Ramsey. Alexander was great but man his injuries have been on par with Horns in the last couple years.
  18. The ball keeps getting pushed down the field. Most of the 2nd rounders won't get full guarantees but they'll get a good chunk of the contract guaranteed. So let's say it's 75%. At the end of the day we're talking about a couple of million over the course of a four year deal. Basically a rounding error in terms of salary cap impact. It's much ado about nothing.
  19. Agents only have the upper hand if they think/expect the teams to cave in the end, but that 30 of the 2nd rounders remain unsigned, it shows the Agents might not have it in this case. A 2nd round pick isn't going to sit out their rookie season as a holdout to re-enter the draft the next year and improve their draft stock and/or ability to stick in the NFL, you really need to be an elite QB prospect to even have the remote chance of doing that successfully. Teams have to draw a line somewhere, if they all say the line is the 1st round, then there isn't much the Agents can do about it if the teams all hold firm, which they should. And yes, you're right about the rookie wage scale, which is exactly why I don't think the Agents will be winning this battle in the end. The teams know they already screwed up rookie contracts once, they aren't going to fall down that slippery slope again and let it snowball on it's way down.
  20. Then we had some impressive coaches to finish 8th from worst plus all of our injuries. Titans and Raiders were pretty bad as well.
  21. Agents have been out-negotiating GMs for years. That's why they had to implement the rookie wage scale. Top drafted rookies were basically starting to walk into the NFL as some of the highest paid guys in the league. Take it up in the next CBA. In the meantime, it is what it is. Agents hold the upper hand in these rookie negotiations and they know it. The teams already have a significant unrecoverable investment spent on these draftees in the value of the pick that they spent. Given the rookie wage scale there's not much to negotiate other than guarantees and offset language and once again the agents are kicking the GMs' asses again.
  22. Except it's not about the money, it's precedent and teams not wanting to go down that path. Once you guarantee all the 2nd rounders, then the 3rd rounders will want it, and so on. If they keep viewing it as say, "well it's only X amount of money" then it's a slippery slope that doesn't end. Then you get Free Agents saying, "well if you're fully guaranteeing the contract of an unproven 57th pick of the draft, you clearly should be fully guaranteeing mine as your big FA signing this offseason" The NFL doesn't work with fully guaranteed contracts under it's current cap model. If you want to give them out to the true elite of the elite players at impact positions like QB and Edge, then so be it, but there needs to be a line in the sand or it will get real messy.
  23. I really don't think it's that debatable. New England had some argument but our roster was far worse, IMO.
  24. anyone breathes wrong in the WNBA they have to make a big deal out of it b/c it's a dead fuging product that's unwatchable.
  25. I agree, I think the right elite that's not a diva could blend right in - I wish we kept Guentzel
