His biggest problem was he was a one system, one year starting RSO at powerhouse DII school before declaring for the draft. All of that worked to his disadvantage. No idea how to work in a different system, started just one season (plus one more game) for ND St. who steamrolled over all the competition. While he was blowing out teams, it was DII talent after all. He honestly had zero business declaring for the draft. He clearly was not even close to being ready for the NFL, let alone a NFL blueblood like the 49ers with an offensive minded HC expecting nothing but excellence out of his QBs. To top it off, he got hurt early in the season and struggled to get healthy. So yeah, he got a raw deal, but I'm willing to bet the QB he is now is not remotely the QB the 49ers kicked to the curb so early in his career.

Trevor is a bottom quarter NFL QB. It's visibly evident to anyone with any football knowledge at all.

Obviously Schlereth isn't familiar with the GWDs and big time throws. Embarrassing for a professional football commentator to be trusting his eyes leading to him talking out of his ass and not realizing the greatness he was missing.

I am from SC, and was a fan in his college days, and am white and have long hair too. Or I need a haircut anyway. Still, I can’t feel this at all. Too much money and too little certainty. Okay he has been to the playoffs and had a good game or two, but the money is too much for the likely return.

The only surprising thing is that teams haven't been doing this to us ever since they had three or four games of tape on Bryce.

He isn’t getting much help for sure. At the same time, he needs to help himself. I am 50/50 on him and he does need someone worth a damn throwing to him.

Not opposed to drafting a guy to develop but I too favor the trade or FA route.

Jones to me is the epitome of average. Like when I think of generic QB, ranked 16th in everything I think of Mac Jones. And I am not complaining, that would be a nice upgrade. I wonder what the 49ers would want for him. 4th? Surely not a 3rd or higher.

He is not capable of seeing the intermediate routes because he's too short and can't throw deep because he's too weak so he throws outside the numbers short but is too weak again so you get throws like that incredibly awful one on Sunday from a clean pocket. Dude is cheeks and Dave knew it after two weeks last year.
