  1. Past hour
  2. I think the stats he’s nominated for are 3 TDs of 30+ yds, 2 on 4th down, 0 turnovers, 75% completion, 147 rating, etc. Unless “stats” is code for “400 yards”, his stats are certainly worthy of winning the award.
  3. It isnt 2019 anymore. Drake Maybe is the MVP favorite and hasn’t even thrown for 300 yards in a game.
  4. Honestly, we don’t even need to worry about it anymore. The 5th year isn’t expensive because he just hit the playing time tier so he’s still cheap for the next two years. Personally, I still hope we go after anyone we think could be great value in 2026. This was supposed to be a loaded QB class and some new folks stepped up and some preseason studs didn’t do as well. Day 2 could have some solid potential if not too many decide to stick around college for another year.
  5. My basic criteria: Bryce overachieves... Legette underachieves... From that standpoint, it's an easy decision.
  6. Lizzy Canales or Ashleigh Morgan, I guess...
  7. You dont think Rex Grossman was awesome? He went to a super bowl! He completed a pass on 4th down once!
  8. Not sure I do either. Not sure it'd look any less silly even if I did.
  9. Left guard is, per numerous football guys, the easiest position to play on the line. If all you want is a backup left guard, okay. If you want a Geoff Hangartner style utility guy, well...
  10. We have 4 games left, 2 against Tampa and 1 more division game. Pretty much every week is going to be huge for the playoffs. If Tampa wins while we are off, we will be 1 game back and pretty much be in must win mode all 4 games.
  11. To be clear, my standards for a backup aren't gonna be the same for a starter, especially against a tough opponent. And I'd say my most recent impression is this: Bryce had a decent amount of time to throw on a lot of plays last game. Run push? Definitely subpar, but Bryce didn't end up taking the sh-tload of abuse I was expecting him to take.
  12. as the board is inspired by Matt Rhule these days and want to take the 7 year approach with Bryce/Canales.... please note, the best record in the AFC and NFC.....are held by year 1st year coaches paired w/ QBs drafted after Bryce Young.
  13. But we're not talking about someone's role or importance to a team, that's an entirely different conversation. In general, when you're just talking about building a roster or how a team looks, or anything along those lines, then I 100% agree with you. But this is for the Air and Ground Player of the Week. To me, I've always interpreted that as who had the best passing/rushing/recieving performances of the week, completely separate and irrelevant to a team's success/failure in that week. I wouldn't take the same issue with it if someone said he should be nominated for Offensive Player of the Week, that would be an award where the things you're talking about should be factored in. I just feel this is not that type of weekly award where role or team outcome has any factor in it, and it's who had the best statistical output that week.
  14. I've got to drink a triple Scotch before I comment on that.
  15. Sorta where I'm at as well. Bryce has amazing anticipation and can make some insane throws. But the body of work overall resembles Taylor Heinecke on his best days. Which is fine but it's not what you paid for.
  16. Yeah...I think that's overstated. My take was that he'd be better at guard but our new OL coaches are making a believer of me. He's getting uglier
  17. It all depends on what frustrates you. Bryce frustrates me more because as he goes, generally the team goes. For what he advertised to be, he just hasn't delivered. 2 1sts, 2 2nds and DJ Moore, and we jettisoned Darnold who was beginning to find his way, for the results we've gotten. We paid a fortune for a Lamborghini, and we've gotten a Ford Taurus. XL to me was always a college one hit wonder so my expectations were never high. What we're getting is actually along the lines of what I expected. Not as many boneheaded in game decisions obviously, but I didn't expect him to contribute much if at all really. We've seen too many of these projects too many times before. They are what they are.
  18. Formation has always been a big indicator. Shotgun used to be a big indicator of pass and now under center is a big indicator of run. It's just that the "normal" formation flip flopped.
  19. I think the worst starting QB in the NFL over the last 3 years is starting today......because the folks with egg all over there face have tripled down on not having the worst pick in NFL history associated w/ their resume. yeah, I don't think the folks in charge think like me. That's not like a thing I suggest. People didn't like me blasting the Frank/Bryce pairing before that week 1 kicked off. Our front office gets the simple wrong. Bryce is a round peg in a square peg org. We had those talks back when you defended Fitterer lol. *on an actual sincere side note, I'm glad you are back and over whatever hurdles came your way...so that we can argue again. We never see eye to eye and that's an ok thing.
  20. Never said it was. Its also easier to defend as you know what's coming.
  21. And you guys wanted to trade him away all of you absolutely disgust me
  22. The odds say you are less likely to run for 4 yards against a stacked box. In that situation they are daring you to throw. The odds even dictate you should throw a quick short pass from play action. But the most damaging play to the defense is to hit a receiver over the top in stride if your offensive line gives you enough time. We did it twice. You noticed they didn't crowd the box anymore on the game sealing pass to Coker.
