Canales is telling us, but we aren’t listening
Waldo replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah it's his friend he works closely with that nominated and hired him. It wasn’t his decision 100% but pretending he didn't have any say is just disingenuous given the setup. -
I believe Dave knows how to counter but is limited to a middle schooler playing qb

Don't forget Drew Brees. He was the exception to the rule. -

Yeah there is no way they could have brought anyone in that could actually compete with him for the job. For both of his parents being in the mental health space (I think). He's about the most mentally fragile QB I've seen -

This part of his answer is the most direct shot at Bryce. The Saints were daring us to do anything/everything we could from a vertical standpoint. THey completely sold out on stopping the run in every aspect. Their gameplan showed Bryce ZERO respect...and they were absolutely on point in their gameplan lol. -

Listening to it, that’s how it sounded right after the game when I was ill and ready to chew thru my hat. Reading it now, I can see he’s actually trying to say something. But we all know unless youre about to get fired or can’t be fired you don’t get to say what you want. He really is telling us what the problems are while remaining diplomatic. He has to. Im not trying to absolve DC from anything, but I couldn’t imagine having to try to win football games in the scenario he’s currently in. He signed up for it, but damn. That’s a tough spot. -

We're spitballing in the cruddy muck. I'm throwing out names like Stetson Bennett, Jarrett Stidham, lol, you've got Lance, Levis talk, Davis Mills, etc. etc. We're truly scraping anywhere and everywhere for ideas. A crazy indictment for how truly bad he's been. -

And if he’s blame sharing, he’s obviously doing it to protect his confidence. Bringing somebody else in this offseason would have done the opposite -

It’s even stupider because Bryce literally does the opposite and has to scramble around to make anything happen. He’ll bail a clean pocket in a minute. Probably vision. -

I think we will see White at some point. Once they pull the plug, you can go with Andy and they may a game or two. However, I imagine you want to see somebody not named Bryce Young or Andy Dalton run your offense for once. White is competent. He’s a 30 year old, very tall, athletic guy who has started before. Has plenty of arm strength and mobility. Has had good and bad games, has won and lost games. Not the future but the perfect guy to use to measure your offense- if you’re going shopping this spring. -

If true then that's stupid because our line is playing pretty well -

That isn't the coaches decision ultimately -
Honestly I think that having both of them out might have actually kept the Saints defense more off guard because they wouldn't know who to focus on. But Canales didn't really put together a new game plan either way.

Schlereth won SB's with the Redskins (1991) and Broncos (1997 & 98). He knows what competent QB play looks like. He can't come out and just say on live TV "this passing game is pathetic" or "this QB is not a factor if he has to throw the ball downfield 10+ yards more than once a game". I think every announcer has to scale down their criticism of Bryce Young during live broadcast and "hype" up any positive play he makes, even if its a routine play for 90% of the QBs in the league. There could be some serious repercussion for them if they came out and said over the airwaves "This guy is the biggest factor holding the back the Panthers."

He knows We know We know he knows - Today

I’m surprised he is speaking against Bryce based off the last game he called. Bryce could do no wrong that game and even hyped up a pass to the flats.
-
White was re-signed yesterday. Panthers Bring Back Mike White
-
SCO96 started following Mark Schlereth on Sundays game and Mike White or Hendon Hooker coming back?
-
Do you think he could average more than 168 passing yards per game and 5.6 yards/attempt? If he can than he'd provide an immediate upgrade to our passing game.
-
Canales should of pounded the table for a better QB in the off season then. Morgan and Canales built this pile of sh*t so they are kinda stuck, but you cant put everything on Young if you keep sending him out there.

Canales is telling us, but we aren’t listening
NAS replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t know that he’s telling us anything if he’s emphasizing get the ball out within 2.7 seconds and turnovers that’s going to inherently cause play calling to be conservative. No I guess it’s possible that if he has Baker Mayfield or Josh Allen back there, it wouldn’t be so concerned about getting the ball out quickly. -
I think we all agree on that. Unfortunately, we don't have a capable backup on the roster. Dalton looked awful in his one start this season and I don't think we have a 3rd option on the roster. Didn't we release Hooker and White this month?
-
That was his HOF, basically. He laid down ever since.

I’d love to know if there were guys open downfield and Bryce didn’t see them. Or was there no one open. I don’t remember them ever taking a shot to TMac downfield. Is that not his specialty? Is Canales not capable of scheming TMac one on one for a shot downfield several times per game?

I was drinking with an advance scout(former CFB player) for the Gator Bowl a few weeks ago around Chicago and I asked him while he was lit up about Arch Manning. The responses were very funny.
