Weather makes it sloppy, couple ball bounces go our way, Canales leans on the run, Bryce is hidden, rams have bad luck with injuries same as packers -
Tell Me How Carolina Wins Against the Rams

I'd quote the late John McKay. "We're just three or four plane crashes away from the playoffs." -
...and a David Tepper problem. Sadly, the former is probably a much easier fix than the latter.

And spending prime draft capital on one unless it's going to be a home run type of player. In regards to the topic I think Canales has shown enough to get at least another year. If we can't improve to be a more consistent offense next season then I think we clean house after that. I think we've seen enough to know what we have with Bryce and its been obvious for some time he has been holding this team hostage to a certain degree. He isn't always the issue but more often than not he is the reason for the inconsistencies on offense, and he really isn't someone who has been able to elevate the play of others around him which is absolutely what you need to be able to win consistently in today's league. I don't think Bryce will be off the team next year but we have to bring in some legit competition for QB1. That has to happen, we simply cannot go into next year with Bryce being the defacto QB1 again.

They don’t but it’s fine. Get to the bye and get healthy. Beat saints and bucs twice.

I understand where OP is coming from in general. Personally I don't have anything against Bryce the person. By all accounts he's a great guy. As an NFL QB and as the face of the franchise however I must acknowledge he is enough to make someone stop watching football altogether. If we had transitioned directly to him from Cam and Kyle Allen instead of Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold PJ Walker Baker Mayfield etc I would probably feel more apathy toward the situation but I've been through the ringer already so this is whatever. I will say as nice of a kid as he is his personality is unbelievably milquetoast and it's hard to ignore even when he plays well and wins it just feels like your QB is Steve Urkel and you're always left waiting for the other shoe to drop. It is what it is

Not only Bryce... The "all star" coaching staff approach was pushed on Reich because Tepper saw the initial success Brian Daboll was having. That's how we ended up with Thomas Brown (among others) rather than the staff Reich would hav chosen himself. When it comes to football, Tepper is one of those guys who sees someone else having success and says "hey, let's copy that" rather than getting people who have their own ideas. So, not just unoriginal, but also stupid As to Bryce, Fitterer admitted he'd locked in on Bryce the year before and wasn't budging. Pretty much everyone believes Reich wanted Stroud, but why would you expect him to get his choice of quarterback when he didn't even get his choice of assistant coaches? Add in that besides Tepper's Monday meetings and his using assistants as basically corporate spies, Fitterer lthrew Reich under the bus when Bryce wasn't an overnight sensation. Basically, Reich never had a shot. Now Fitterer is gone, the all star staff is mostly gone, the Giants are a sh-t show and Reich is experiencing a career resurrection at Stanford. And us? Well, we're still here hoping for a miracle

Speaking of guys that need to return to school, John Mateer. He has really nuked his stock during SEC play.
-
I don't think he's a good enough athlete to switch positions in the NFL. Just a good college QB who doesn't translate to the NFL.
-
Fields doesn't make enough plays with his legs to accomplish anything significant and he is actually a worse QB at seeing the field than even Bryce. This is why I say that: Fields: 153.2 Yds/GM Passing + 49.0 Yds/Gm Rushing = 202.2 Yds/GM Total 1.27 TD's/GM Career winning %: 0.302 Young: 180.8 Yds/GM Passing + 14.9 Yds/GM Rushing = 195.7 Yds/GM Total 1.17 TD's/GM Career winning %: 0.308 So if you basically want different Bryce Young, with all the same frustrations and results but with the added bonus of being insanely physically gifted with zero excuses for failing, Fields is your guy.

Yeah won’t we have practice squad linebackers too? This might be the week that up down up down pattern is disrupted.
- Today

That would only be like midnight for them. Have to maybe do 6 am and good luck getting back too sleep.

It is a home game and the team seems to play better when the pressure is off so who knows which version of the Panthers we will get. But with key defensive players like Jaycee Horn out it's likely we will be down on the scoreboard early which does not bode well for our already underwhelming passing offense.

Quite a few people here were interested in Steichen. The Panthers held an interview with him over Zoom because he was still coaching in the playoffs at the time. The excuse from our org was that he didn't interview well. We even had Vrabel scheduled for an interview too. But Tepper was his usual impatient and impulsive self and rushed into hiring Reich and then became hyper focused on drafting "his guy" Bryce Young. Honestly it probably didn't matter who we hired it was always going to end badly because of the Tepper's.
