No I get it. I think I was just saying top 50 isn’t really anything to hang your hat on. He is a ginger too. Good point. I’m not here to die on an Andy Dalton hill.

Scourton isn't signed (& apparently it's a thing)

I don't think he is very likely to be traded pre-season and even less likely to be at a reasonable price. -
Lol. I mean looking at rosters. It's rough out there.

Surprise! Kon looks really bad!

It’s summer league, so take it with a grain of salt. But have to admit the team has played really well and been fun to watch. Agreed, take what we can get. -
There are a very few number of legitimate NFL level QB's on this planet. I'm not saying he is not capable of being a backup still given that very limited number. All I'm saying is some people can choose to look at the reality glass half full or glass half empty. I'm relatively trying to remain near the middle. I do appreciate that he has experience with which he can pass on to Bryce. But I think his resume is being put on a level that does not line up. It's interesting you mentioned Flacco. I'd take him mentoring the Panthers starting QB in a heartbeat. At least Joe has won in the playoffs. And won a Super Bowl to boot. He might have only had success largely in that season but man what a run he led that offense on. I can respect that. I'm not saying I don't like or respect Andy. I do like him. And he's a ginger. But as a local fan who has seen losing losing losing mediocrity and a few very short lived seasons of potential greatness. Give me any ounce of greatness every time. Then we can hang our hat on mentoring at some level. That's my position and all I'm trying to convey. Thanks for the chat.

Ok the first paragraph made me laugh. You think he is washed and I understand it. I just don’t think it’s outlandish for someone to think he is in the top 50 in the league. It’s not really a compliment but just means he is an average backup. I’d put him in the Joe Flacco category personally. Old starter with tons of experience that can come in and run your offense if needed, but not someone you want playing more than 3 games or so.

Anyways. $110 million in career earnings for Andy with the new contract he signed with us. He is laughing all the way to the bank and then some regardless. Good for him.
-
IMO being a great backup QB isn't about what you can do on the field its what they do to get the main guy ready. And I think Andy has been great at that

Look I've been trying to be delicate but this entire thread is nothing more than an exercise in vigorous turd polishing. I'm perfectly willing to participate in optimistic discourse regarding our young players but what's going on with aging Andy Dalton is homerism gone wild. He is objectively bad. Plain and simple. And he was such in his final season with the Saints. In one game against the Cardinals that season he threw 2 pick sixes. He was very bad last season after that mirage of a win against the Raiders. It is what it is.

That means he is an average backup depending on the use of the word “easily”. All 32 starters are clearly better, but are more than 18 backup QBs better? It’s not that much of a stretch to say that IMO.

Currently playing the Thunder right now. I guess it says it all that playoffs in the Summer League are a high point these days. But we'll take what we can get.

Pooing posts over Andy Dalton. Yeah that sounds about right for the fanbase

He’s been fun to watch.

Good read! Thanks.

Imagine typing this with a straight face.

Soon to be 37 in the fall 0-4 career playoff record. Actually when you get down to it he is a very fitting "mentor" for our own QB for all the wrong reasons considering we're still looking to end our own drought going on 8 years now. Bruh we need to open the huddle to rival fans again. This echo chamber poo is officially out of pocket.

give some props to Andy Dalton

Top 50? Based on what? -
He's not a starter but he's completely fine as a backup still. Top 50 QB in the league EASILY.

I mean, even their own propoganda videos showed how much he was involved for years. Not to mention the umpteen articles mentioning it from "sources." The narrative, which is likely somewhat true at the bare minimum, didn't pop up out of thin air. Snyder had that rep. Turns out.....100% accurate. -

He's a great guy. In his prime he was a respectable starter. But now at this stage of his career he is an awful QB. This lip service is ridiculous.

Anyone who watched the blueprint knows we think highly of Nic. Just get the deal done and get him out there for camp. -
was reading Darin Gantt this week and he noted these stats "Andy Dalton is 26th on the all-time passing yards list (39,500), ahead of Hall of Famers Jim Kelly, Steve Young, YA Tittle, Troy Aikman, and many more. He's also 26th on the all-time touchdown pass list (253), and the next one he throws ties him with Dan Freaking Fouts (254). He grew up in Texas idolizing Aikman, and has about 90 more touchdowns than the former Cowboys Hall of Famer (165)." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-ready-to-get-to-training-camp-tetairoa-mcmillan-bryce-young-fantasy-football-ai-hot-dogs pretty nice having him for a back up. Hope he wants to play another year or two

It's too early to tell. If he's stepped back that's a good thing obviously. But to say it was greatly overblown is rather ridiculous. This is the same man who held a press conference after firing Reich where he did virtually all the talking. Seems he's at least learned from all that though. We can only hope it will last.
