Division opponents thread: Bucs, Falcons Saints news
ProcessBlue2 replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's Tampa or Atlanta. People forget how bad Morris was a HC. He wasn't a great interim either. The Rams defensive looked like garbage at times last season. He went and plucked his friend to be his DC (who hasn't really hit on much) and McVay's like 10th straight assistant to be his OC. Yeah they got Cousins but he's coming off an achilles and can't win a damn thing when it matters. They got a few guys yeah, but I just don't think Atlanta is going to do much. Bowles will keep the defense above average in Tampa, if Baker can do just 75% of what he did last year they have the division. Pre-Draft Thoughts: Tampa: 8-9- Todd Bowles' cycle of .500 seasons with 1st round playoff exits continue. Atlanta: 6-11- Very underwhelming compared to expectations. Carolina: 6-11- Meh we can be competitive in most games. New Orleans: 4-13- The old band finally collapses and they go full rebuild for the fist time in 20 or so years. -
Does anyone else think that 90% of this answer sounds like plain old BS ?

We literally have the same depth chart except for Bootle. I have Jamison over him.

as Clemson fan.....I hope we don't break the Clemson drought by drafting a Clemson DB. -
I agree with this. We need another WR but we have to see what Mingo is since we spent a 2nd last year. Thielen is still more than good enough to be a 3
-
I'd be fine with me. Homer in me wants Shipley in the 4th if he fell there. I think he could come in pretty quickly and be a better 3rd down RB than the dudes we have.
-
dylan laube close to CMC skills, can get in 5th round.

i don't like our chances when we gamble with poo like that. as seriously as we have taken getting the interior OL right this year, you'd think we would take center more seriously. i have to imagine that we will be addressing it in the draft unless there's some OC FA gem they are waiting to hear about. Could be we will try to draft one and if not then we'll look into some other FA options.

Did Panthers sign Stephon Gilmore too?

Or like the basic concept of human decency. -

Yeah I think Gilmore is a done deal they’re just hammering out the details. -
It has strangely always felt inevitable that Clowney would be a Panther some day. The vibes were always there. Even after the board tried to force "downey for Clowney" as a follow up to "suck for Luck" and it felt almost as cringe and forced than this year's "Gerber" thing.

Oh gotcha - I thought he had 2 years left on his deal...makes sense. Depending on how Mingo and the draft goes probably gonna get a good shot at a resign also though.
-
get well soon sir
-
That's a dangerous gamble imo. He's had very significant lower body injuries 2 seasons in a row and is an unknown at center.
-
worded poorly. But I take it as last/final year as a Panther. Theilen is most likely done here after this year. Johnson most likely is just a one year rental if playing the odds. then it goes into big picture, and really that is just Mingo that projects out long term. ISM I guess.
-
Bruh when does he actually get to gettin'?!? This is excruiating
-
I am fairly confused on the "Johnson in his last years comment" in the initial post....he should have a good 3-5 more years left most of which should still be fairly peak. But I also am fine with WR being top priority. Personally I think our current priorities should be CB, WR, C, OT, DE, LB - the crazy thing there though is I think C, OT, DE, and LB are all about even so you can mix them around however you want. CB and WR are very thin talent wise for us by far over the other positions considering injury history/age. I would be happy if our 2nd round picks included a small trade back and picking up WR and CB at this point....but again I'm not mad at BPA for those other 4 positions if a diamond is available.
