  1. Past hour
  2. I usually have to catch games after they start, so I stay out of these threads to not catch spoilers. I have to admit when it was 11:30pm and I was right at halfway through the 3rd I was thinking this wasn't looking good. I was ready for bed, but I knew the Isles are good at blowing leads so I checked the score. Kind of wish now I wouldn't have done that, but man was it still magical to watch. Jealous of you guys who were in the house last night. My point here is I usually read through the thread the next day. You guys really need to start on page 3-4 and read through it again; it's quite hilarious. We are some of the most bipolar fans in the NHL. Great win. GO CANES!!!
  3. Maybe taking time off works for him. People react differently. But the optics of it from a first overall pick that also took time off to do nothing at the combine are.... not good.
  4. sorry, I can't spin it as a positive that he spent the whole offseason away from football. Watching you tube and netflix all day. You think Cam Newton to Tom Brady took entire off seasons off of football? Especially coming off of the season he did? With all the issues to his game at this level? I don't want him obsessing over last season. Dude has a ton of work however he needs to be doing to get better. Lot of getting better is the work put in on their own time and in the offseason. The work guys do in the offseason is often documented and known. It's normal.
  5. I get that he would fill a need if he pans out. But the thing is, we don't have to fill every single need this year. And I don't think we should be trying to. If this year's class is so weak at that position, that the best prospect we can get is a 4th or later guy with character issues.. meh. Get somebody you feel better about at a different position of need, and worry about pairing a DT with Brown next year.
  6. Based on quite a bit of history, so is the NFL. At the end of the day, a lot of the responsibility for development lies on the individual. You just can't save some folks from themselves.
  7. He is literally the only space eating 1 tech available in this draft and we desperately need someone to compete with Shy Tuttle (who is undersized) for the position.
  8. I would have taken Sweat at 39. The fact that he could be available at 65 is fantastic. If he slides all the way to 101 and we don't take him, shame on us.
  9. Eh....that can happen but also bring in a professional situation can help. College football is a pretty bad about developing players in terms of football or maturing them as adults.
  10. You know there is a lot of things pointing to Legette and Carolina (most notably Legette himself). I also think about it this way. If there is a lot of preverbal smoke around the Panthers taking him at 33. Would you not share this in an attempt to get one of the teams late in the first to pull the trigger on you. Personally, I think Legette is overrated and closer to a 3rd round talent. Unfortunately I do think the Panthers really like him. If you're Legette and you know this, then maybe you announce it in an attempt to get one of the competitors to draft you late in the 1st. You get a small salary bump and get to play for somebody who was just in the postseason. Arizona, Buffalo, Detroit, Baltimore, San Francisco, and Kansas City are the last 6 picks in the 1st. All of them can use a WR.
  11. No, they failed the Panthers. Cam, great as he was, was just a part of the Panthers, not the whole organization. They treated him like he could be enough, that he was Superman like he claimed he was. You can't rest a whole franchise's hopes on one man of flesh and bone. Eventually they can't reach the summit, eventually the wear and tear takes them down. They wanted Cam to be that guy. Cam wanted to be that guy. We all wanted to be that guy. We all just got blinded by the light.
  12. Sorry ladies and gents.. but I don't post durning games usually.. Last night they needed me to focus on what was at hand.. 23 shoots on goal at one time and one goal. whew.. I'll admit, I thought Rod pulled Andersen and little too early at the 2:48 mark. Down 3-1 .. Sooooo glad he's out coach. 2 goals in 80 seconds.. and the magic had already happened before the Islanders knew what happened. 2: 48.. and we WIN. Amazing. This can happen in the regular season... but we're talking playoff hockey and it happening. Loving that Maple Leaf win .. F the Bruins ..
  13. Then let's let someone else take a swing at him instead.
  14. There are two reasons why a trade down this year could be more valuable. A) There are a lot of teams needing a QB this year. If Penix or Nix makes it down to 33, you could bid that pick off. B) There will be 4-6 QBs taken in the 1st round. This means there will be a few "1st round talents" make it into the start of Day 2. I don't recommend the Panthers go far past 33 if they do trade down. There is a talent drop off around pick 40-42.
  15. My post answers this question quite thoroughly. What is the point in trashing him? Does it make you feel better? Nobody is in disagreement about his play needing to improve and that starts with the OL, WRs, coaching, etc. If he still can't get it done, he will be replaced. I have been endorsing a trade down to add a second rounder in the 2025 draft so that we can move up if we need to for a QB next year. That is covering the reality that he might not be the answer, but I also know that blaming him and ignoring the conditions he was asked to perform in is not fair to him. Give him his tools.
  16. Today
  17. you think young reads this board? We are in deep poo if he does
  18. It could, indirectly. My question to you is, do you perform better under constant criticism or constant support? Support him--that is not hard. If the fan base stews in negativity all year, it gets into the water and everyone starts thinking the QB is the anti-Christ based on reputation and hearsay. Do you think players do not know how the public feels about them? He has a pretty good excuse, and all players have mechanical issues they could improve. Yes, he is short. No he did not have a good season last year. Turn the page. If he does not work out, we will move on---what is the point in the constant belittlement? However, it has reached the point where Huddlers think they know more that the coaches and management--Newsflash--we don't. In toxic cultures, the first time he makes a mistake all the haters at the stadium get loud to vindicate their opinions---I was right!! in other words. We all know the situation. What point is there in trashing a 23-year old kid who was asked to perform in outrageous situations? Support him. I guess it could say more about the critic than the target.
  19. brother I am on record saying 6 wins is a successful season. Baby steps and all
  20. not good yet. we haven't seen what Canales can do with this team or what this team is going to look like after Morgan and Canales gets done making this the team they envision. we were a 2 win season last year. what we are this coming year has yet to be decided on. lots of reason to believe it will be better if you choose to buy in to and risk having a little bit of hope.
  21. No, the stats clearly show that the odds of getting a good player fall drastically as the draft goes on. In short, your odds of getting a starter at the top of the 2nd round is much higher than finding one starter from three 3rd rounders. It’s like this. If your kicker sucks, do you want to give him one try on the 10 yard line or 3 tries at the 50?
  22. Im not calling you a super fan just saying as a 2 win team reality has set in and we just arent good no matter how someone wants to fluff it up
  23. it's not being positive just to be positive. it's looking for reasons to be positive because i hate feeling like crap about the team. until this iteration of the panthers proves otherwise, i choose to believe that they can figure out a way to not suck and actually be fun to watch again. and superfan...lol. i'm just a guy that always tries to look for the good.
