  1. Yes I want Sam to start this season. Draft a LT or other stud, and we'll find our QB in the 2023 draft after Sam poops the bed. If Sam balls out then we can stick with him. Win - win so long as we accept that 2022 is a lost season.
  2. I tried to listen but they started out talking about whatever, so I'll wait for summary.
  3. I never wanted Sam here in the first place. I said it was a terrible idea from the start. We have a GM who is saying that Sam is going to make a big leap this season, so I'm taking his expertise into consideration in giving Sam a remote chance of improving.
  4. Another thing I would add is that he needs to develop a mean streak and play more with a chip on his shoulder. He's kind of a dancing bear but a little too finesse, and sometimes I just want him to turn into this mauling ogre. He's just not that guy.
  5. He tends to struggle at times with big DEs when they bull rush. He's not quite as powerful as you'd think he would be for a guy his size. His selling point is his excellent precise technique, quick hands and feet, getting into his set fast, timing when he shoots his hands perfectly, hand fighting, attention to detail, and some other great qualities. When it comes down to pure power in a dogfight with a big DE he doesn't dominate like you would hope given his mammoth size.
  6. I'm hoping that is the case.
  7. Neal has a lot of great qualities. My only complaint is that he doesn't anchor as well against a big DE's bull rush as you'd expect for his size. Other than that I'm really impressed with Neal. I expect Neal to be off the board when we pick at 6.
  8. I'd rather not restructure when we're already in a bad situation. We don't even have a decent QB, so even if we select a rookie we'll have a bad season. Why not take our medicine now?
  9. This isn't something that concerns me at all at this point. We did a lot of restructuring and the cap is expected to rise next season. What bothers me is that we don't have a QB, and could use a LT as well. We have Fitt and Rhule trying to find the next QB, and neither of them have a good track record. To compound the problem the 2022 rookie QB crop doesn't have a clear standout player. If you're worrying about the cap at this point I don't know what to say.
  10. Most coaches pick bad QBs because they don't know they're bad QBs. See dummies all around.
  11. I think if Neal or Ekw are there at 6 we should pull the trigger. Imo Seattle is targeting Cross, so he will not go lower than 9th.
  12. How I would use CMC depends on how Sam looks in 2022. If Sam makes a huge leap, then I'm using the hell out of CMC to try and make playoffs. If he dies, he dies. If Sam poops the bed again, then I'd move CMC around and limit his touches. No need to run him into the ground for a lost pointless season.
  13. The 2022 QBs look like they'll be backups in the NFL in the long run. They're only being talked about as 1st rounders because it's a bad QB crop, and teams are extremely thirsty for QBs. I like Pickett the best out the bunch, but he's a project that might not pan out.
  14. Sam is NOT getting another contract unless he balls out this season. Slight improvement is not good enough for another contract. We pull the trigger on a 2023 rookie if Sam doesn't show franchise QB ability in 2022.
  15. We know that Sam, or any half decent QB, can just rely on CMC to get wide open and hit him on short routes. Doing that over and over and over again will lead to CMC being out for the season again. That is easy to predict, and heads will roll if they pull that again.
  16. Fitt's reputation is on the line with Darnold, and now he is doubling down by stating that Sam will make a huge step forward. Ok fine. If Sam does as Fitt predicts, then we're all going to eat a huge plate of crow. And that will be the best tasting crow we've ever had because we'll likely have a winning season in 2022. On the other hand, if Sam poops the bed again then I want Fitt and Rhule gone. Nothing is more important than finding a franchise QB, and if they can't do it then why have them here? Sam pooping the bed is bad for Rhule and his servant Fitt, but it actually will be an amazing win for us in 2023. High draft picks in 2023 will be like diamonds and gold with the QBs in that draft. We could trade down for a king's ransom, or take a shot at drafting a potential franchise QB. We're in a position now where we're likely to fail into prosperity. Sam is more likely to poop the bed, so the odds are we're getting a rookie 2023 QB. If Sam turns a corner and becomes our leader and franchise QB, then that's a win as well. We're in a win - win situation so long as we DO NOT TRADE OUR 2023 1ST ROUND PICK.
  17. I don't think we're taking at QB in this draft. Here is what I think will happen if we're smart: There is no QB worthy of the 6th pick in this draft. We might have 1st round grades on 3 QBs, but that doesn't mean we'll be in position to draft them at the bottom of the first. I don't think they are anywhere near the top half of the draft in talent. So Fitt might panic and try to trade down, but I don't think we'll find a partner offering equal points. That's perfect. So we take a top LT and plan for the future with a 2023 QB.
  18. There is no such thing as tanking. All players, coaches, and management try to win as though their job is on the line. What you don't want your GM doing is taking bad situation and upcoming season and making things much worse. Bringing in a mediocre QB when you're in panic mode makes the situation worse.
  19. The 2022 season is lost. We're not doing anything in 2022, and Jimmy G wouldn't change that. A washed up, injured, "never was" type QB would only hurt our team in the long run. The best thing that can happen now is to lose a lot of games, and draft a top 2023 QB prospect. The terrible Jimmy Clausen season led to Cam Newton in the draft. The terrible Sam Darnold season can do exactly the same thing to set us up at QB for over a decade. The NFL is designed to help teams that have dumb GMs, but we have to get out of our own way. QBs are being handed to us in the draft, and we're passing on them (Fields) for poop awful horrible nightmare bad QBs in free agency. THAT HAS TO STOP. Fitt, who is certainly dumber than most people on the Huddle, needs to get out of his own way. Let the NFL help you Fitt. Stop making so many moves, and take what falls into your lap for losing and being an idiot.
  20. Yeah I think that's a better way of putting. Like Sam could be amazing in some other profession, but making quick decisions is just not something he can do. He doesn't process visual information quickly enough, and that makes him mentally deficient as a QB. On the other hand, it could be that he is also just all around dumb and so he hasn't learned enough in the film room and in practice. Could be both, that's how badly he plays.
  21. Thank goodness we're at the top of this chart. I feel better about our 7 game losing streak and not having a QB/LT.
  22. There is a part of me that feels sorry for Sam even with all the money he's made for not doing much. He's a quiet humble guy and it's easy to like him, but he's just not bright enough to be a QB. There is something sort of sad about that.
  23. Sam does things that I can't explain and it drives me crazy. He'll look right at his primary read, who is wide open, and then move to his next reads for no good reason. Had he not done that so many times he actually might have had a decent chance at getting another season here as the starter. Watching Sam throw the deep ball last season was just sad. Even if Sam got the mental part of his game down I have doubts that he be more than a lower tier game manager.
  24. Why didn't this guy pick all the plays where Darnold looked right at his 1st read who was open and went to the next read? That's Darnold at his dumbest if we're playing that game.
