And they won it the year before. And Mahomes was playing hurt, and his receivers were dropping passes they normally catch. And TB loaded up their offense with two #1 WRs and a great o-line. Wouldn't you like to be 1-2 in the last two SB?

When you don't have that elite offense, you end up with coaches demanding near perfection on the field. No mistakes. No turnovers. You screwed up on that play and now we're going to lose! There is no telling how many times Teddy was told "DO NOT TURN THE BALL OVER!" and the like. How many times have you, as a Panthers fan, sat and worried that if we get down by 10 points then it's over? I'm so tired of that. I'm ready for an explosive offense.

This the era of offense and elite QBs. Refs know not to let the game get boring and stale by allowing a bunch of holding by DBs. The NFL wants the ball in the air with lots of TDs, and they've tailored the rules to fit that vision. My blueprint for this team would be to build the most high powered offense possible, with a decent defense with budget players here and there. Rhule wants balance on both sides of the ball. That balance naturally comes at the price of not having an elite offense obviously. So we'll see how the balanced approach works.

When Jackson first got some confidence as a starter he would beg the coaches to let him play man. Recievers starting beating him deep, and would rant and rave about the receivers pushing off. Then he came to his senses and realized that this is not the 1990's and only the most rare elite CBs in the NFL, just a few freaks, can really lock things down. And even then there going to get burned here and there or get PIs.

The X-factor for our offense is the o-line and Darnold. Will the passing offense be explosive? Will the pass protection hold up after we passed on Slater? Will Darnold play better than his 78.6 career passer rating? We have no idea what's going to happen on offense.

I didn't want Moehrig. Just not good enough. Still I wish we had done something more. In the old days we would just have our crappy safeties target the head to knock the ball loose. Now you have to play nice.

Chinn did a great job against grandpa washed up Jimmy Graham. This guy Pitts is a whole mess of problems.
-
Pitts is going to be a handful. Basically our pass rush has to get to Ryan. Pitts will be like an NBA guy out there running around.
-
Then he would be on Julio Jones, and that's advantage Julio.
-
Tony Gonzalez gave us fits even toward the end of his career. Jimmy Graham ate us alive. Now they Pitts in his prime, and we have nothing at Safety except 5th round pick CB Keith Taylor who might have to bulk up and go over there. It doesn't take a football expert to see what's coming.

All aboard the Tommy Tremble bandwagon
pantherj replied to Panther Believer's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let's just hope Tommy doesn't wreck his body trying to blow up NFL sized monsters. -
He mauls and grabs well after 5 yards as well. The tall WRs of the NFCS are just the type of receivers Horn had to grab in college. Even so we're much better off with Horn than the CBs we had last season after idiotically letting Bradberry leave.

Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn
pantherj replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Horn's numbers improved in his final season is college. I was wondering why the jump? It's because he started grabbing receivers and the refs let it go. In the NFL the flags will fly. He needs to stop that. -
Round 6 (A) Deonte Brown - G - Alabama
pantherj replied to Jackofalltrades's topic in Carolina Panthers
Deonte is going to have to lose some weight. All that fat will cause major fatigue later in the game. -
My initial impression of Brady Christensen is good lord his arms look short. A tall DE flying around the edge is going to give him fits. Not sure what we want him to do in our offense. Is he supposed to be our LT?
-
Ok first of all don't throw poop at me. Stop reading here if you don't like negative comments. The Horn was a mistake imo. There was much better talent on the board, and Horn is not going to be press man shut down CB. There is a reason why Horn grabs tall fast WRs when he has to cover them in man. Because they'd roast him if he didn't hold on for dear life. Horn is a zone CB imo and taking him at #8 was astonishing. Terrace Marshall Jr. is our best pick so far. He has the size, speed, and catch radius to do very well in our offense. Add to it that he is a sneaky and crafty player when it comes to route running. He knows how to fool DBs with little details in his route running, so you know he's smart as well as gifted. He has studied the game carefully. So that's my take on the first two picks. No need to talk about a blocking TE. Kind of boring.
-
This draft has me stunned, but it's awesome that we have yet another pick coming up.
-
Good news is we have another pick coming up. Let's fill a need.
-
Stone hands TE?
-
OMG let's see what WFT does here.
-
Ifeatu Melifonwu can play safety or CB!
-
Holy crap if WFT doesn't take Ifeatu Melifonwu then we need to pull the trigger.
-
Ifeatu Melifonwu please.
-
Wyatt Davis maybe?
-
No spoiling.
