  1. The GM has to have the authority to build the roster as he sees fit. Then if he fails to obtain the right players to win, you can fire him with good cause. Our undoing really is a tale of QBs. We didn't trade up for Justin Herbert and we easily could have done so, and that cost us a decade of success. We brought in Teddy Bridgewater which was a mistake (stated QB limbo/purgatory). We brought in Sam Darnold which was a worse mistake than Teddy (continued QB limbo but with lower quality QB and loss of draft picks). We brought in Baker Mayfield for 5 million, but the least costly QB mistake in the Fitt era, but pointless nonetheless. We drafted Matt Corral which was a moderately costly mistake in terms of draft capital. You can't pass on drafting Herbert, who was easily obtainable, and then bring in 4 QBs who are backup quality and then expect anything but misery. No matter who was responsible for the QB decisions, the only outcome was that we were going to get our asses handed to us from 2018 to 2023. You have to hit on a QB. Marty went Jake, Matt, Pickles, Cam. 2 hits out of 4. Not too bad, and Marty's 1st round picks were fire, like ring of honor Panthers players, and we got Olsen for a steal. Fitt has not hit on a QB excluding Young who is still an unknown at this point. Ultimately Young will decide Fitt's fate, and ours short team as well.
  2. I have no hope of Fitt getting us good deal on the trade, so I'll settle for a fair deal. Let's just break even if we make the deal. Just don't get us killed as per usual.
  3. Yeah I don't mean get one right now.
  4. Frank just got here, so it would take a scandal to get rid of him. Fitt has made plenty of terrible decisions, but his fate is tied to how Young turns out. He has until it's clear Young is a bust, or he'll retire here if Young is a star.
  5. I don't want him anyway. We need someone much better. Fitt has bigger fish to fry. Who am I kidding Fitt will bring us trash.
  6. Depends on what Evero is telling Fitt about who he wants to use in his defense, and who we need to trade. Evero will want this roster changed for sure to fit his system, and obviously the current roster will change a lot if and when it can be done in a cost effective manner. Defensive vets should be traded as soon as fair deal can be drawn up. This allows for Evero to mold the defense into what he wants, and it frees up money that we don't need to be spending on defense when we're nowhere close to being a good team. The vets can be replaced with Evero approved draft picks and young low price free agent players who fit our system perfectly. That way the rookie defensive players learn while Young is learning. You don't want expensive vets at the top of their game eating up huge cap space while Young is still learning. That money can be shifted to the offensive side of the ball, so as to protect Young and make it easier to evaluate him. All defensive vets who want big contracts should be traded. All players who don't fit Evero's system should be traded when possible. Money freed up goes to the offensive side of the ball within reason. Holes in the defense should be filled by rookie draft picks approved by Evero, and budget vets. Then we go shopping with serious cash to bring in highly talented offensive players. Juice the offense up big time, and let the defense be a work in progress. The defense can be fixed with future drafts and maturation.
  7. Yeah it's a good reminder that we didn't get here by accident. We were mismanaged right down to the rock bottom on the NFL. Fitt's mistakes put us here.
  8. Here is what fans were saying the first time around with the Burns Rams deal. It's a pretty funny thread.
  9. I late 1st round pick OLB selected by Fitt would be a major downgrade form Burns imo. We've got to hold out hope that we can get something better.
  10. Needs to be more than that. Fitt values Burns at more that 2 firsts and a second. We should be able to get more. it would be great if we could get a bidding war going. I'm trying to stay positive. This deal would be a major loss.
  11. I said trade Burns at the time. Fantastic deal. I said I didn't want Darnold at the time, and we extremely overpaid for him. I said don't extend Jackson at the time. The problems I have with Fitt I had at the time it was happening. This is not after the fact 20/20 hindsight. I said last summer that Fitt's top priority needed to be acquiring a real #1 WR. He failed. I said so at the time. Now look at our passing offense. Going forward, we need to trade Burns and Brown if we can get good offers. The CMC money that is eating up our cap space will be gone next season. If we clear out Burns and Brown so they don't get mega contracts, then add to that Young is on his rookie deal, we'll have plenty of cap space to go out and get cream of the crop receivers, including a real top quality #1 WR. Add to the offense in free agency, and go into the draft looking for DE and OLB. That's what you do going forward. Yes the defense will not be as good, but the offense will have top quality veteran weapons. That way you know if Young is legit or not in 2024. Then in the 2025 draft you finish rebuilding the defense. And let's say we don't find a guy as good as Burns in the draft. Who cares? If we have a potent offense, then it won't matter that much. And if the offense sucks even loaded with weapons, then what does it matter that our OLB isn't as good as Burns? We'll need another a QB at that point.
  12. Don't forget the Jackson extension after he just blew out his Achilles, and already had constant ankle problems.
  13. Oh and here is something that will sicken you about the Darnold trade. Reports at the time were that no one was making offers for Sam. So if we stayed firm with a low ball offer, I think we could have had him for just a 4th, or less. Like WAAAY over offered on him with no other teams even sniffing around, and then sign the 5th year option to boot. Sickening. Killed the whole fan base. Sill have not recovered from that blunder.
  14. Just almost everything he's done, do something different and you're better. This isn't Monday morning GM. I said at the time Darnold was a proven failure and he would flop hard. I said at the time to trade Burns, or he's going want enough money for a private island and he's not worth two 1sts and a second and it was the deal of a lifetime for us. Huddle said we couldn't replace him or some other b.s. Keep CMC and DJ, and trade Brown and Burns for draft capital to go get a QB. Trade to number 2 if that isn't enough to go to 1, and take CJ or Young at #2 depending on who falls. I'm not going to keep going with things like Henderson, Gilmore, ect ect. The lesser players and blunder trade ups and reaching like a moron in the draft isn't worth listing off. This really gets my blood boiling.
  15. Lil' Jordan and Lil' Bryce. I could see that.
  16. Jeudy has proven nothing on the field. Chinn is my favorite defensive player on this team, but that's not saying much. No way am I taking that trade. They would need to offer more.
  17. If Tepper is overriding Fitt, then we, and no one, has any possible way of evaluating Fitt. We're all in the dark if Tepper is running the show. Even Tepper won't be able to determine if Fitt is doing a good job or not, BECAUSE TEPPER IS DOING HIS JOB. However, in listening to Tepper in interviews it sounds like he's staying in his lane and letting everyone do their jobs.
  18. I want Tepper to rip Reich a new one. I hope Frank isn't having any peace or fun. If I were getting millions and working 60 hours a week I'd know the middle names of every player on the roster, and what they had for breakfast. There wouldn't be any "I forgot about that player." Oh "I didn't know that player wasn't on the field." Now I don't want Tepper messing with roster building or the draft, but yes rip Reich. And then go after Fitt as well. I don't want them having a good time because I'm not having a good time. The fans are not having fun, so go get his ass Tepper, crazy corporate shark style.
  19. Jets fleeced us, Bears fleeced us, Jags fleeced us, so yeah that all Fitt does is get us fleeced.
  20. The only consolation in all of this is that I am fairly certain that Tepper is ripping Fitt to shreds for building this turkey of a team. I bet Tepper is an absolute horror to get reamed by. I bet he's going ballistic on Fitt.
  21. The time to worry about our WR was during the off season, not when we're falling ass backwards into becoming the first ever 0-17 in NFL history.
  22. Fitt values Burns at more than two 1sts and a second round pick. There is no chance of a 1 for 1 trade Burns/Jeudy.
  23. Fitt needs to be placed under citizens arrest if he tries to trade anymore future draft picks away.
  24. On 5/26/2023 at 5:18 PM, pantherj said: This is just my opinion but I'm seeing trouble on the horizon with the WR corps. Jim may love Mingo, but college level DBs stuck to him like glue. Not good. That means NFL DBs will be all over him as well. I'm not saying Mongo won't be good, but he may need to be thrown open. I think waving off DHop because we have TMJ, Chark, and 32 year old slot receiver Thielen, would seem kind of silly to me. Just my opinion. Obviously go by what the experts are saying. Not trying to invalidate or dismiss what was said on the radio. We already knew over the summer that Fitt needed to do something and get a #1 WR. He failed. 0-6. Fire him asap.
