Where is it written that because you are a defensive minded head coach that you can't score points? How many winning HCs don't have a good OC. Look at all the winning Head Coaches and you'll see that the majority, if not all, have a good OC.

What DJ Moore did was FLAG WORTHY but this WASN'T?????
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I honestly don't know why they have that rule anyhow. It isn't like he's going to swing it at someone. -
I agree this is our toughest test. Tampa has Cincinnati next weekend. That will most likely be their last loss before playing us. I don't see them losing to Arizona prior to our game. They play Atlanta while we play NO the last week. Atlanta could sneak in there too but they have a tough test. They have @New Orleans, @Baltimore, Arizona and Tampa.

Looking Ahead: The Next Four Games
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
We have to keep even with TB until we play them. TB has Cincinnati at home next followed by Cardinals in Arizona. If we split with Pittsburgh and Detroit, we are in position to win the South. If we can go into TB and beat them, we own the tiebreaker since we beat them in Carolina. The most intriguing game will be the New Orleans game. They most certainly will want to spoil our season and knock us out of the playoffs. If we were to run the table, we would meet some of the preseason predictions of 9-8. IMO the most difficult game will be Detroit because they have a very potent offense. Goff is looking very good in that system. Mostly, I will enjoy watching the tankers heads explode because we keep winning. Ruining their dream of drafting Young or Stroud. -
Official Panthers at Seahawks GameDay Thread
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't disagree with getting a new OC. I think we need some more reliable weapons other than Moore. You have to be able to throw the ball in this league. That said what is best defense against a high-powered offense is running the ball and keeping them off the field. Get an offensive coordinator that likes to run the ball but has a good passing game to compliment that running game. . -
Here's an idea for all of you that want a top 3 pick. Houston needs some fans. I am sure you can join their bandwagon and you can have your top pick.
-
Madden belongs on your TV not on your football team. I don't play the game, but I've watched it several times.
-
I completely agree. While it is great that you can run the ball and control the clock. You have to put the ball in the air to keep teams honest. Sooner or later your QB has to make some plays. Darnold did yesterday. @Catsfan69 Find it odd you would poo this. While it may not be your opinion it is a pretty good opinion. Other than that, I gotta believe you have some childish beef with Varking and you just poo to poo.
-
I am hoping for a win. As long as we can run the ball we should win. The key will be keeping Darnold from having to win the game. If they focus on the run and make Darnold win the game, it could be a long day. I believe the running game gets going and we win a tight game. 24-20 Big Black Cats.

Matt Rhule and his reclamation projects
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Snow isn't a bad DC especially for college. If I were Nebraska I'd be asking why Snow isn't coming. Rhule better find him a DC ASAP or he might be coaching HS football soon. -
Tell me again, why we didn't draft Brock Purdy

let's talk about Brock Purdy and Mike White
DaveThePanther2008 replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
I keep going back to Jake but Jake wasn't the most talented QB in the NFL but he was a winner. (A lot of fun to watch as well). You can teach skills but you can't teach that pressure of a GWD. You have it or you don't. Whatever round we draft in I hope we find that QB with balls of steel that can handle the pressure of a GWD. BTW, I am shocked that Rodgers is below 30% GWD. -
I think it is because of the upcoming game but I saw the highlights of that game on Youtube yesterday. That was a brutal game for us. I remember watching it live and nearly flew out of my seat when Olsen was so wide open in the end zone.

let's talk about Brock Purdy and Mike White
DaveThePanther2008 replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Outstanding reply. I spit bullets thinking what would have happened if we had just kept Heinicke. He has that Delhomme passion that we used to love. I used to live in Norfolk Virginia where he played college football at ODU but back then they didn't have a football program. He's a winner. His Wikepedia profile shows he never had a losing season at ODU (6-6 was his lowest record) and is the 18 player to throw for 10,000 yds and rush for 1,000 in a career. -
let's talk about Brock Purdy and Mike White
DaveThePanther2008 replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good topic. White had a great first game and a not-so-great 2nd game. Purdy really shined in Shanahan's offense. As @Pejorative Miscreantpointed out your best "talent" traditionally is at the top of draft but sometimes there are gems. There are several youtube videos on believing White might be the answer in NY. It will be interesting to see if he'll be figured out after a couple of weeks of film. Purdy has so many weapons I think any QB in SF would do well but make no mistake he came in and played well, which is what a back up is supposed to do. I've also heard that Shanahan and Lynch really like this kid. I find it quite funny that a rookie "Mr. Irrelevant" played better than the QB that SF traded 3 No. 1 for, had a full camp as the #1 QB and had one year understudy with Shanahan offense. There are several "Lynch apologetics" out there that want to make excuses why Lance looked so bad in his debut. Why didn't Purdy have issues? He seemed to do well. This ought to be fun. I think you have to have good scouts to recommend some of these QBs that teams find. We had Heinicke and let him go far too soon. He's playing better than any QB since Cam. Once again, great topic. Blow off all the poo's you'll get because those that do that are simple minded. They cannot see that every player drafted in the NFL is talented, athletic and deserving of a selection. Lower round picks don't usually last too long but every year there is some late round pick that turns out to be a Pro Bowler. -
Matt Rhule and his reclamation projects
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
He fugged up from day one. Talking how he couldn't wait to work with Cam, blah, blah, blah. Then turn around and release your QB for a journeyman QB better known as "check down" Teddy. That snowball started to get bigger with Darnold being the man. We gave a valuable 2nd round pick for basically nothing in return. Sam "I see Ghosts" Darnold bombed out after 3 games. Rhule than turns to Baker "Happy Feet" Mayfield and he was supposed to finally fix our QB problem. NOT. Then out of desperation he turned to his savior at Temple PJ "I shouldn't be on a roster" Walker to save him. Rhule's biggest problem was his Tepper fueled ego. Tepper gave him so much power, Rhule must have thought he was some sort of football deity. Like he has the secret formula, that has been hiding in the family receipt book, for ultimate success in the NFL. It would have been much simpler to start your "7-year plan" with a former MVP. Though Cam was limited he was still better than any of the garbage that came after him. He could have built a good offensive line and drafted a young QB to learn from Cam. Instead, he did something no team has ever done. Used all his picks on one side of the ball. Just glad he's gone. -
If you force me to take a QB the only one is Stroud but even, he worries me.

Anthony Richardson declares for the draft
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is my take. First of all, I like Richardson, I think he has some good tools. He's mobile and big enough to take some hits. The ball flies off his hands and has tremendous zip. However, he's a project. He could be another Cam or he could be another Winston. There are only 2 scenarios I would take him. One trade down and pick up a 1st next year and choose him with a lower pick if he's still available. Two, if he's available in the 2nd round. If we were to get him, we'd have 2 QBs that need work. We'd need to hire a QB whisperer. Corral is an unknown. Thanks Rhule. He has many tools to work with, as with Richardson, there are some things he's going to have to work on. My opinion is that we draft a position of other need with our 1st pick and ride with Matt and maybe Darnold as backup. Up to including letting Darnold start the season. We just can't continually throw away top picks for a QB, we have to try and work with the ones we drafted. You can use later picks for projects. If you have a good scouting department. Maybe you can draft a guy like Brock Purdy, Mr. Irrelevant. -
