Yes, I think our secondary is going to be tough to beat. Well be ranting and raving about how great a pick he was by the end of the season.
-
Agreed MH never missed on round one. You shouldn't miss on round one. 3rd round picks are supposed to be potential starters but you have to give them time to develop. BC IMO is our best option at LT considering our other needs and I'm not only talking QB. If we choose a LT than so be it. I won't be screaming on this board, like many do, that it was a wasted pick. I just feel that we have a LT on the roster and if Rhule plays him in at LT he will perform well.
-
You should follow your own advice. You want a LT because you feel BC isn't good enough. That's pure emotion because we really didn't give BC a chance. We drafted a LT last year. Brady Christensen and when given the chance (last couple of games) he played well for a rookie. I believe James Campen is going to get him even better. We have other needs that could be filled outside of QB and LT that would warrant a #6 pick.
-
You build through the draft. You bring players in and let them develop. You don't continually add the same piece because the rookie didn't make the Pro Bowl. Remember us drafting CB after CB and so many other positions fell through. We are working on Brown and BC can learn behind him or play guard but he should be viewed as part of our future. I'd rather take a QB than Another LT.
-
Erving agreed but you have no idea BC ceiling because we haven't given him a chance. He's extremely athletic and could be but no one knows until you give him some seasoning.
-
I hope we trade down and pick up another pick in round 2 or 3 or both. Wait for the huddle meltdown when we draft something other than a QB and all pointers point to Darnold starting.

I hope Rhule is Pissed

Sweet 16. What a story it would be if Hubert Davis took them and won it all. When the Heels are playing well. They are as good as anyone in College Basketball. -

Wow huge upset. Better watch out the Heels are in a groove. They got upset by a VT that won the ACC tournament. They knocked off Duke and now Baylor. Go Tarheels Sorry Matt but love them Heels. -
None of these moves matter without our franchise QB
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Kraybrothers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not 100% sold on that assessment. He's been with some pretty bad teams yet managed to win. He may not be the answer but he better than Darnold and probably better than any draft pick this year. All these QBs have major question marks about them. Personally I like Howell and think he'll be the best of the group. -

That is why i say trade for Minshew. He's on the last year of his rookie contract and if he doesn't pan out we can let him go with minimal damage. It all depends on what Philly values him at. I say trade away 6 for 15 and Minshew and you can name another pick. You get your QB and still have a good chance to address the line some more. -
Rhule will have no excuse
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well that isn't going to happen and apparently Tepper thinks that with a better staff Rhule will do better. So at the end of 2022 someone is going to be able I told you so. Well see if it is "Rhule Haters" or Tepper -

In this draft that is a long shot. -

Kind of a short history don'tcha think? I'm not defending him but we're stuck with him and hopefully he's on the right track. I, personally, cannot hope we suck just to see him go. Firing him and bring in another coach may or may not be the answer. We've seen teams go through coach after coach and limited success. My hope is he's learned from his past mistakes and improves as a coach. Many on here just want him gone regardless of how 2022 goes. -

DaveThePanther2008 replied to Kraybrothers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Of course they matter and they paid off but you're not always going to have a franchise QB land in you lap. Detroit let Stafford go because he had no chance of winning there. Watson wanted out of Houston and 230 million guaranteed is insane. Brady picked his spot and got another ring. When you don't have a franchise QB are you supposed to just tank until you do? No you have to find a competent replacement until you get lucky enough to land one. No one knows what a rookie is going to bring. Last year everyone had Mac Jones as the lowest rated QB and probably had the best season of all the rookies. In the meantime you build your team to succeed with the best talent around your QB and hope they are good enough to win with them and a good defense. -

I've said this before. You can't run an offense with the line that we had before. Darnold is probably not the answer but when you put ANY QB behind that line he wasn't going to do well. Just look at the 2021 Super Bowl. KC was without both LT and got expose by TB. Their line was abysmal in the Super Bowl and they got destroyed even with Mahomes. Pickett and any QB in this draft has question marks on whether they will succeed in the NFL. While I am not again drafting one. That QB, whoever he may be, will have a much better chance at surviving with a competent line. To prove you wrong, Mark Rypien, Nick Foles, Jim McMahon, Joe Flacco, Brad Johnson, Jeff Hostetler, Doug Williams and Trent Dilfer. All of these players were not franchise QBs but won a Super Bowl because they had a good cast around them. PROVE ME WRONG -
Rhule will have no excuse

The only problem you have with that philosophy is that you might not be in a position to get that pick unless you trade away multiple 1st round picks. -

DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
How many coaches have survived because they had good staff or a great QB. It can go both ways you can survive because you stay out of the way and let your coaches coach or you have that franchise QB that makes you look better than what you are. -
Rhule will have no excuse
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Had he done nothing he should have been fired this year. I think all the Vet coaches save his @SS. Fitterer/Morgan have done a good job in addressing our offensive weakness. Now there is no excuse as to why we can't at least have a respectable season. -
Rhule will have no excuse
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's on the hook either way but if he let's McAdoo do what he was hired for he actually might get another season. If he gets in the way he'll sink his own boat. -
Thoughts on putting Cam behind this line?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some want to point out that Cam went 0-fer as a starting QB. Behind that line I'm not surprised. Somehow we survived 15-1 with Remmer at tackle. I would almost argue that this is a better line than 2015. Cam's arm may not be 100% what it was 7 years ago but the situations he was in since he was release hasn't really be fair to him. This line would be the benchmark of what he really can do. -
Rhule IMO will have no excuses this year. We've addressed the offensive line to where we should, at minimum, be competent. We have one of the best offensive line coaches in the league. We have plenty of talent at the skilled positions on offense. Our defense appears to be shaping up and we have a good coaching staff on defense. Whatever they decide for QB is on Rhule and he'll have to live with that decision. Whether a Vet FA or Darnold or a rookie, it will be on him. I think if he lets McAdoo do his job and stays out of the play calling he might survive. If he mettles and cost us games it's all on him.

DaveThePanther2008 replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
I assume you are saying we are going to trade down and get a 2nd round pick out of it. That would put us at 51. I don't think Ridder gets that low. I've heard he's had some good workouts. Maybe. -

DaveThePanther2008 replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam with the way the offensive line is shaping up would be better than any QB on the roster. He's most likely better than any rookie and free agent we might bring in. This is also a chance for Cam to show he's really better than what everyone thinks he is. Cam still has mobility in the pocket and with a bit more time to throw he might just surprise some of you. He may be washed up but I'm betting he'd be good with this line.
