Your solution for the QB situation?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is our best option. You can flip a coin and argue all day on which QB in this draft is better. I think Howell is being underestimated. In 2020 when he had a stellar running game and two top flight WRs and a solid O-line and Howell excelled. 2021 he had none of the above and struggle but that should be all on him. If we fix our line we have a solid running game, good WR and I think he would do well here. If we get a 2nd you address the center and let Brown and another FA to play guard and let BC play LT. -
This is a rivalry, the best in college basketball and arguably the best in all sports. You go to Duke or UNC to play in this game. This game is pure pressure. Duke wasn't acting much like they were under pressure. They dominated stretches of the game however, UNC was resilient each time Duke punched Carolina Punched back. Everyone wants to say Duke played poorly but Carolina outlasted them and outplayed them down the stretch. Carolina scored 55 points in the 2nd half. Duke was outplayed and out coached. Duke was the #4 team in the country and Saturday the better team won.

It didn't or won't matter who is under center if we don't fix this line. Free Agents are a quick fix and not 100% (as we have seen) to fix the problem. We have an opportunity to get the LT spot fixed. Do it and be done with it.

I'm all for it. I would like to see Brown in there somewhere but this is cool.

That made the win that much sweeter. They all got to taste the bittersweet taste of an ass whooping again.

In May of 2019, I got un-expectantly released from a contracting job in Iraq. Very painful and I lived off unemployment and my military retirement for 4 1/2 months. I kept plugging and in September of 2019 I got one of the best overseas jobs one can get. My point is, be strong, be confident and remember God won't ever give you more than you can handle. Better times are coming. Good Luck

That win last night was absolutely amazing. This will only fuel the greatest rivalry in College Basketball. Not only did our beloved Heels ruin Coach K's last game in Cameron Indoor but 96 of his former players got to taste again what it is like to lose to the Heels. The game was a war. It was one of the most physical and emotional games I've ever seen. I can't count how many monster dunks there were on both sides. Duke kept trying to intimidate the Heels with nasty blocks and some pretty hard fouls. Carolina kept fight back. So many opportunities for Carolina to fade away but they didn't give in. When they went up by 5 I thought they had a chance. Every 3 that Duke made was answered. This game was about who is going to blink first. Duke did. You could see that in the final minutes Duke struggling to make a basket. Carolina wasted no time in pushing the lead to a point where Duke wasn't coming back. What a game. The entire team was amazing but RJ Davis IMO was the MVP. What great leadership. Hubert Davis put the game on his starting 5 and they played the entire 2nd half without replacement. Brilliant move. Davis was like here's my best 5. You can't beat them. Duke didn't. Thank You Heels for a great game.

Would this get you excited for this season?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some said the same thing about Mahomes and Murray. The guy has talent and what he needs is a QB in front of him so he can learn. If we could trade down get him and an offensive linemen and let him play behind Cam. He'll learn. Cam may be done but he's still better than any QB on our roster and better than most of those that are free agents. I'd rather ride with Cam than Darnold and draft a rookie than to throw more money at the QB position in a Veteran that has as many question marks as they do answers. -
First of all, the draft class is weak at QB but from what I've read it is a pretty strong class for offensive linemen, which is our greatest weakness. Though a weak class overall sitting at 6 there will be a couple of elite players left and the possibility for someone to trade down with. This is my hope. Secondly, I don't see how we will get three starters out of this draft unless we somehow pull off a trade for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I think if we trade down we might get a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd but not both. Our next pick isn't until the 4th round and this round starts where you are drafting potential more than starter material. While it is highly possible to get a starter in round four, it's not likely. I think our best hope is that we find a solid starter in free agency and nail the two picks we pick up in a trade. There would be our three starters.

Would this get you excited for this season?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
This would be perfect idea. McAdoo from what I have heard likes the TE. Cam loved using his TE. If Campen can get Brown and Christensen and hopefully a couple good FAs on the O-line going we could have a decent run with Cam. Willis could see how this works and be the future of our team. -
I agree that Darnold sucked last year and makes our trade look foolish. How could anyone look good behind our line? It didn't matter who was under center they weren't going to have much time to make wise decisions. If we somehow manage to fix this line and I hope we do. Darnold, IMO should have just a slim bit of faith that maybe, just maybe he can perform better. I still believe that we need to address the QB position but we need to be wise in doing so. Throwing money at Vet QBs IMO is just as bad as reaching for a rookie QB that might not pan out. Run with Darnold and hope we fix our line. Plan for a QB in 2022 when Darnold is no longer on the books.

Mitchell Trubisky is the best play
DaveThePanther2008 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've said before we have enough money tied up in Darnold and still paying Bridgewater. Trading for a Vet QB is like throwing poo at the wall and seeing if it sticks. If we are going to try Trubisky than make is as cap friendly as possible and do it. IMO he has the tools to be a good QB. As far as Mariota is concerned he's too injury prone and had a better cast around him in Tennessee than Trubisky had in Chicago. -
Panthers Vet QB options: A snip from the athletic
DaveThePanther2008 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am in total agreement. Bringing in ANOTHER QB to fix Rhule's ineptness is going to sink this franchise for years to come. If Rhule ends up trading all our stock this season and next. The Roster rebuild is stuck until 2024 and this is if we are lucky. Rhule was all in on Darnold now he should have to ride that wave all the way in. -
Panthers have reached out to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins
DaveThePanther2008 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We would damn near 1/2 of our money going to QBs. If you count what we still owe TB5 and Darnold's 5th year option plus Cousins quick math brings us to 50 mil in QBs alone. -
Tepper in the War room on draft day.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
That would be so sad since we all thought were getting a guy that came from a solid organization. His 5 or 10% investment in the Steelers must have been just that. He learned nothing about how a football organization should be run. -
Tepper in the War room on draft day.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed. Only hope and speculation My biggest worry is that Rhule gets us on the Cusp of a playoff appearance 9-8 or 10-7 and Tepper hangs on another year. It's also not out of the question since he was forcefully force to upgrade his coaching staff. An improved staff may help his cause. I am sure that is the only reason Rhule hung around one more season. -

DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't have an issue with how he manages with the picks he has. Whether trading up or down but I do (Hopefully Tepper does too) have a huge issue with Rhule playing with future picks. -

That is my worry. If he trades away our future to save his ass. We're fug'd. -
Tepper in the War room on draft day.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Last year Tepper made a point that we should never lose on a trade. (ie value points even or in our favor) This year he truly needs to protect the franchise's future picks. If Rhule wants to trade down and get a couple extra picks I can see Tepper going with the flow but beyond that. He'd have a say. -
Tepper in the War room on draft day.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah as they should be. Many don't get involved and are there for the press more than anything. I think Tepper needs to be there and ensure he doesn't screw the future. Rhule may ruin his season Tepper needs to ensure he doesn't ruin the franchise for years to come. -
Dan Morgan interviewed for Steelers GM job
DaveThePanther2008 replied to BurnNChinn's topic in Carolina Panthers
With Rhule having control of everything I am surprised Fitterer and everyone else hasn't resigned. Who wants to be a figurehead only if Rhule has power over everything. -
It's been stated many times that Tepper won't give his vote of confidence to Rhule. Many on here believe that Rhule may sell the farm to bolster his chances of staying beyond 2023. Rhule has ultimate control which scares the crap out of many of us. Do you think Tepper will be in the war room on draft day like he was last year? More importantly do you think he'll nix any trades that jeopardizes our future? (ie 2023 and beyond 1st round picks) In 2010 Hurney almost traded away our 2011 (Cam) pick but couldn't find any takers (praise god). I sure as hell will be furious if he trades that pick away and we end up in the top 5 next year. It would suck to see a team on the cusp of a championship end up getting a top 5 pick because Rhule sold out in 2022.
-
It won't be so nice when he trades our #1 next year for something unnecessary this year and the #1 pick goes to some team that raped us for the pick this year.
-
Everyone wants Rhule gone but, what if
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed. I can't see Tepper holding onto him for one more year just to fire him regardless of the outcome of the 2022 season. This team under performed drastically in 2021. If Rhule shows he can run a NFL program with NFL coaches he might just save his job. I know most on here don't want to hear that but IMO that is exactly why the changes were made. Tepper to Rhule "You got one more season to prove you can run this team. Get NFL experienced coaches and make us a winning franchise"
