  1. I think it's something relatable for all levels of competitive sports and probably just gets worse as you progress. I burnt out of AAU basketball in high school because at a certain point I just hated everyone. Using anger to fuel the competitiveness is just a really negative emotion to turn on that often. Similar thing with toughness. It's war and there can't be any weakness shown. Some people can handle it better than others, but not me. Life without it was also pretty empty for a little bit before I found my place. All the traveling and practices you really don't have many meaningful friendships aside from people on your team who like he says in the article may only be your friend because of proximity. Some of that mindset still comes up for me even now, though it's mostly gone.
  2. Don't be afraid of greatness. We can piddle around with 1st round picks and constantly say "next year" or we can go get the man. If we opt for the draft we're still giving up draft picks (at least a future first) to move up and scrap with other teams for the 2nd-3rd best QB on the board. So, it's not like we're giving up nothing if we don't go the Watson route. The future will be mortgaged to some extent for a franchise QB unless you wanna try and fully tank for a whole year, which will not happen. And you get what you pay for. Might as well get this right and get a guy like Watson than try to cheap out and end up with a Wilson experiment for the next four years and limited picks.
  3. What about our other wins this season? Why is it just Washington? If we'd lost any of those other games we'd have the same record.
  4. I’m not gonna be mad at either one, but age is an asset, especially since we’re at the start of something. I love Watson. But, if we have 5 playoff seasons with Stafford while we draft young QBs until we hit on one, then it might be a great ramp-up process for us.
  5. Dolphins beat reporter thinks Watson wants to go to the Dolphins. Great source
  6. Stafford is great. He got a bad wrap for injuries early in his career, but has been very durable since. He can sling the rock. With a better run team he’s in the playoffs regularly. He can make mistakes sometimes as a gunslinger, which could make it hard for him to win it all. Also, he’s clearly on the back end of his career. I’d be happier with it if we were more loaded (like the 2015 Broncos). Right now I think we’d need more from the rest of the team to get far. I like Watson more because he can put the team on his back if need be.
  7. All I know is there's maybe 2 guys I'd take over Watson on this list. So it's not looking good for our Wilson/Trask pick this year.
  8. So if Hurney didn't make all those picks... who should we hate?
  9. Watson will have 2-3 maybe 4 thousand yard playmakers??? When did Cam have that? Never. An RB isn’t as valuable as a QB.
  10. Some of you all treat our cap and draft picks like it’s your personal home finances. Trade whatever it takes to get Watson! It will be worth it. Franchise QB for another decade.
  11. Glad we can save up our draft pick for the 3rd best QB (maybe?) in the draft.
  12. It’s Deshaun Watson and you guys would turn him away. He is massive potential actualized, not some maybe draft pick. You act like we won’t be able to draft a soul in the entire draft for 5 years. You act like we can’t sign anyone in FA. You don’t let an elite young QB pass you by. He’s a franchise changing player.
  13. With Chinn aiming for DROTY I’d say pretty good
  14. even if matt isn't great, as long as he stays healthy we'll be fine. we have 3 RTs, one of them will be good enough and with the quick passes, the line will look better anyway. no way we fail unless everyone goes down (knock on wood)
  15. You really can't go wrong rooting for any of the WRs competing for a spot this year. Everyone is all in and locked in. Everyone put in extra work this offseason and everyone is vying to take a big step. So many good stories too. It's gonna feel nearly impossible to cut down this group. This is the effect of Gettleman and the coaching staff turning their eye to the WR talent pool since Kelvin was drafted in 2014. Now we're overflowing. I kinda expect us to be in the same situation with CBs in a couple of years.
  16. this is another guy who seems like he fell through the cracks. he contributed immediately as a true freshman, he was having a nice year as a sophomore before his off-field incident kept him from finishing the season (52 tackles, 4.5 TFLs, 3 interceptions, and 4 pass deflections), then he had a great season as a junior but was kept out of the bowl game due to a weird academic issue (51 tackles, 2 TFLs, 6 ints, 12 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles, 1 recovery). he was also a team leader in his last year. his coach publicly told him he wouldn't get drafted and the draft board told him to go back to school. he was sick at the combine and underperformed in some drills. at every turn this guy was being crossed out and left unrecognized. i think it's fair to assume that other teams weren't noticing him as much as they should have. he still would have been drafted and probably not long after our pick, but this guy's talent should have taken him higher in the draft. i wouldn't be surprised if he's right there in the mix for the starting outside corner job in july and august. i think picks like Worley and our big name UDFAs this year are the difference between us and teams like SF or Dallas. those teams take risks on guys like Lattimore, Brandon Thomas from Clemson, Jaylon Smith, and Randy Gregory. risks like those are gambles, straight up taking a guy teetering on the edge because of a current injury or current personal issues. we take guys who were injured but have actually recovered, or had an incident but has closed it and proven that it wasn't his true character. ours aren't gambles the same way those teams' picks are.
  17. i think this team is gonna go 16-0. doesn't matter who it is, i think we are pissed are we are gonna break some teams into pieces this year. had the same feeling before the seattle playoff game. if you thought we were villains last year we are gonna be one of the most hated teams ever by the end of next season. why? because we're not just gonna beat teams anymore we're gonna josh norman-OBJ them. we're gonna be punking teams and brawling teams and just ending them. scorched earth to the super bowl take no prisoners all revenge will be taken.
  18. The way this is going, I hope we send him to the Raiders. He is going to be a disruption here.
  19. I agree. If he holds out into training camp I would bench him and keep him away from the locker room for the season. I'd basically make him take a Greg Hardy leave of absence for the season and let him dry up on his own. Even if he comes back, it would (1) be a distraction to the team and potentially stir the pot with other players who may want more money or a new deal, (2) missing TC means he missed valuable time with the team building chemistry and getting into game shape-- look at Kam Chancellor last year. I also think if a player wants to take it to the brink then we should really take him to the brink and let his ass sit out alone. I recently watched the 85 Bears doc on Netflix and the aftermath of that season has me worried for us-- it happens to every successful team. In this case it isn't Ron pulling a Ditka (though he is getting a lot of awards and speaking engagements), but how many times have we seen Josh Norman on TV doing little interviews? Why is he even on there? It's just marketing and me first and unrealistic expectations of how much money he should make. Same way Hardy came on here with his coat drive around the time he wanted a new deal. Whether you want to admit it or not and whether you know Josh and think he's a good person-- to some degree it still has to do with marketing and making yourself seem like a huge part of the team and fan base. Hold outs suck and I want no part of that on our team. I hope they negotiate up until the day before camp and then if there isn't a deal, Josh signs and is on time to camp, where they can still work on a deal.
