  1. Justin Houston still campaigning for offer sheet, one that he hopes Chiefs won't match. He is very upset.
  2. Here is something from David Newton's Panther mailbag. @DNewtonespn What position (not a player currently on the team) do you see the Panthers spending the most in free agency? #PanthersMailbag - Grant Hughes (@KenjonVander) March 5, 2015 @DNewtonESPN: Interesting. The obvious choice would be a left tackle if there was one worth spending on. There's not. Potentially a pass-rushing defensive end, but the Panthers already have a full plate in Kony Ealy, Mario Addison, Wes Horton and Frank Alexander to play opposite Charles Johnson. That brings us to a wide receiver or cornerback. There are several strong candidates for both that could cost in the $4 million to $8 million range. At wide receiver there's Philadelphia's Jeremy Maclin, Oakland's Denarius Moore and Baltimore's Torrey Smith. At cornerback there's Seattle's Byron Maxwell and a few others who could fall into that mix. I don't think you'll actually see the Panthers spend a ton on one player, but if they do I'd say at one of those two positions. http://espn.go.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/12544/panthers-mailbag-where-should-carolina-spend-big-money-in-free-agency
  3. Funny guy! BTW, Moore retweeted a Snoop tweet that said "Come to the School that wants you, not the school that you want to go to." That was the correlation.
  4. Well, I was just going to express why Ingram was paid, but I see G-man Jack (with the stats of PFF) did it for me. Some of you are vastly underestimating Ingram. Every defense isn't the Panthers' defense that largely made some great backs look quite ordinary once they got some continuity and their wings up under them. Ingram dealt with some injuries also, and still produced over 1000 all-purpose yards last year. He has also played behind Sproles and Pierre Thomas for a good part of his career. The Saints, like any team, want to get him on the field more, not less. He was a beast last year during many games. And the fact is is that he is still young, in years and tread.
  5. Nah, man, that's old news. Moore is going to be a clear free agent barring an unlikely act of God.
  6. The majority of the world picked RG3 over Cam before RG3 was injured, and some picked Tannehill also. If you look at their statistics and ratings, you might be surprised at how relatively close they are on many points. Of course Cam has played one more season than both, but look at the averages and ratings. Stop being such a Homer. Everyone is not a Panthers fan and doesn't see things through Cam colored glasses. I am one of Cam's most ardent supporters---Cam as a QB and a person---and have been, but he's not perfect and hasn't pulled himself from the pack quite yet. Hopefully once he gets more weapons, including a guy like Denarius Moore, hopefully he will ascend to the pedestal that many of us believe that he is capable of. Hell, maybe he---along with Proel and Rivera---can help Moore to reach his potential as opposed to being blackballed by idiots and playing within a dysfunctional, disjointed franchise. As for trying to knock Polian's career, have at it. It still won't change the fact that he is in the Hall of Fame. Obviously someone cares what he thinks.
  7. I see you've been listening. I don't know why more people don't. People may not like Bill Polian for various reasons, but he has always proven to be an excellent talent evaluator. So I guess people must ask themselves why Polian grades Moore so highly among the crop of free agent wide receivers this year, even though Moore was hung out to dry and buried on the bench. Polian is definitely not the type to express gratuitous "positive" opinions. He doesn't talk out the side of his neck.
  8. That mey be how you meant it, which I agree from that perspective, that's why I said it was surprising in my next post. But other people don't mean it that way.
  9. Ingram never looked like a bust in my opinon, he just never got the touches. Now that both Sproles and the PT Cruiser are gone, he'll be THE guy.
  10. I wonder how much you guys think RBs are worth. I don't believe all that hype about solid RBs coming a dime a dozen. Plus the guaranteed part is really the most important part,
  11. I don't know what all the hubbub is about. Until I know otherwise, I am going to assume that he signed a deal that allows us to release him in case he is just plain poo at the position at worst, and at best the coaches get to work with him to bring out his best over the next few months. I figure that G-man figures Other has a puncher's chance of being a solution at LT at best, or provide some depth at RT at worst. I do believe that as a fan the smartest thing to do in regards to Oher is to hope for the best, be prepared for the worst, but expect somewhere in between. There weren't many good options out there to begin with, so I always believed that our next LT would either be Remmers, or a draftee that will either start day one, or take over near mid season for Remmers or a free agent.
  12. Sure, Tiger. Here is another quote from another article. Actually, Johnson ain't even mad. The thought of what they were saying was more incredulous than anything else. My use of the word "disrespected" is apparently an overstatement on my part (but probably not). ”One would think the Texans simply weren't interested in keeping Johnson around for the $11.5 million (including a $1 million workout bonus) he is supposed to be paid this year. But the two parties never discussed money. How could they after the way the conversation began?” http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/columnists/solomon/article/Johnson-move-inevitable-but-no-one-was-willing-6111362.php?t=20e22c95d1f9985617&cmpid=twitter-premium
  13. It may be about money on the Texans' part, but not Johnson's part. For him it's all about feeling disrespected due to their vision for him in a reduced role. I don't know where you're getting this from. Johnson wanted to leave last off-season to go play for a contender. He has arguably been unhappy for the last couple of years. I have followed the guy, and money was never a big issue because he basically got a deal that reflected his value when it was time for his big payday. Hell, he even restructured three straight years just to make cap space for his team. If you don't believe me, then perhaps you'll believe the ESPN writer for the Texans who literally says the break up on Johnson's part is not about the money. They never argued over his contract. Johnson is a reasonable and realistic guy that wants to play for a contender. http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=houston-texans&id=10244&src=desktop&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F%22%7D Edit: And don't get me wrong, Johnson may get paid. That depends on the team. But that's not going to be the driving force. He wants a championship.
  14. Rotoworld: The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have "(internally discussed)" free agent Cecil Shorts. Cleaning house at receiver, the Dolphins would be buying low on a player who appeared on the verge of exploding in 2012. Per reporter Barry Jackson, the Dolphins like what Shorts brings after the catch. According to Pro Football Focus, Shorts averaged 5.1 yards after the catch in 2014, a nice number. Recently released Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson offered nothing after the catch. Source: Miami Herald
  15. Sure, but a trade is not likely. The Texans don't want to carry his $16 million cap figure into next season, or the $14.7 million cap hit in 2016 for a guy that they don't even plan to start. That makes it almost a surety that they will cut him, and no GM in his right mind is going to pay that kind of money for the services of a 34 year old receiver (I don't care who the receiver is).
  16. Fine. The nature of American jurisprudence escapes many people. In the eyes of the law, and more importantly Hardy's now adjudicated case, "reliable info of a settlement" doesn't mean a damned thing, like I said from the beginning.
  17. Think Ju'wuan James. Humphries is getting praise way earlier in the process. He has the best feet in the draft, and is decidedly athletic and agile for a person who is over 300 pounds. He just needs to be coached up about the nuances of the position. Morgan was a glorified stiff.
  18. Well that's not really what I was talking about. If a settlement was reached (and I say "if" because that is technically and legally the correct thing to do in light of the prosecutor's own words and the law) , the prosecutor will never know what it is. For all anyone knows, Holder and Hardy could have come to any manner of agreement for whatever reasons. Money can't even be legally presumed to have changed hands. All anyone can do is speculate as to what the settlement entailed.
  19. For legal purposes, that "reliable info" doesn't amount to a hill of beans. It is really immaterial. If that could have been used as actual evidence pertinent to his criminal case, then they would have gladly used it. The charges were dropped because the state did not have a case without Holder's testimony. They couldn't find her, whether Hardy paid her or not. Why are we arguing about this?
  20. I do realize that. I also realize that Hardy is an innocent man in the eyes of the law, regardless of how anyone wants to spin it. The criminal charges were dismissed, right along with the case.
