Or fumbled a game away
-
I don't see it. Tampa's receiving corp will be the best in the NFL this season. Still waiting on old man Evans to slow down, but it ain't happening. Panthers secondary just can't slow them down. And Jaycee will likely be on IR that late in the season.

Could have used 2015 for just about everyone of those. Almost same schedule if you include the playoffs.

Well, the Niners just doomed themselves to mediocrity
Navy_football replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. Agree mostly. I think a QB needs to lift the offense, but not necessarily carry it. I miss the pure passers like Marino, Moon and Jim Kelly. I like my QBs to be elite passers. Not elite athletes. -
Don't see how it matters other than taking care of the precious at the top. If you're a better team, then you'll win at home or away. Really not that big a deal unless you're traveling across country. Then again, most playoff games are later in the day, so that doesn't matter either.

If Bryce is Purdy level in 3 years.. tag, trade and start back over -
I anticipate TMac having the biggest contribution in the red zone. He'll get plenty of opportunities against cover 0/1 too, redzone or not.

10 wins if we get Alabama Bryce (the Carolina Reaper) at the beginning of the season.

Agree with EVERYTHING you have here! The dline might help you with covering, but it won't do anything with his ability to tackle. Evero's defense has a lot of gap responsibility from safeties. They either missed their gaps, or (mostly) missed the tackle. I thought Woods did a good job of filling his gaps and tackling. He actually led the with 119 tackles last season. He just wasn't good at covering.

ESPN's Top 10 Impact Rookies(non-1st Round)
Navy_football replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
I see Jackson as a rotational run guy with Brown III. I'd likely try something like: Scourton, Wharton, D Brown, Wonnum, Umanmielen. Brown in the middle and speed everywhere else. -
ESPN's Top 10 Impact Rookies(non-1st Round)

Should get plenty of push up the middle with Derrick, Ashawn and Bobby B. That makes an Edge's job much easier since QB's don't have a pocket to step up in. Couple that with a few A gap blitzes with LBs and Safeties, and QBs should be flushed out like Duck Hunt. -
Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, Trevon Moehrig and maybe Josey Jewell could all start on most teams in the NFL. Then there are proven starters from other orgs like Bobby Brown and Ashawn Robinson. This defense isn't that lacking in talent now. All they'd need is another safety and a pass rusher to step up and it's pretty solid overall. Barring injuries, EE has no excuses. They should be a middle-of-the-pack D.

Round 6, Pick 32 (#208) - Jimmy Horn Jr, WR, Colorado
Navy_football replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
One or two hits over the top and it will change the way defenses cover, a la Ted Ginn. If that happens early, he'll be on the field often. -
No issues drafting a RB in the 4th that'll be slated as your 3rd down specialist, or special team returner. I just thought that Billy Bowman and/or Malachi Moore would have helped the team more. But who knows, Etienne could be our Bucky.
-
Right! And I'd go a step further and say they're all related. A hammy could lead to an achilles or a calf. A foot could lead to an ankle or even a knee, and vice versa. Once your lower body starts having problems, it could all go bad. And if he has cartilage damage, then osteoarthritis could be a real concern for someone so young. Bad juju.
-
Yep. And I hate that we'll go with a default starter at Safety and possibly at ILB. I would have much rather doubled down on Safeties in the 4th and had a plan going forward. Feels like they're just hoping it works itself out.

Strength of Schedule for 2025

I think there's a ton of potential in that WR room. But they really are unproven right now. Hopefully they live up to the hype. -
Strength of Schedule for 2025

Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often. -
I think he played the whole game and his knee swelled overnight. Dude is tough as nails. But 300+ pounders shouldn't play as many snaps a game as he does. You're more likely to get injured when you're gassed anyway.
-
Yep, but they can all rotate with Brown, Brown and Robinson (sounds like a law firm). Can't continue to have Derrick Brown out there for 90+ percent of the defensive snaps. An injury was bound to happen.
-
Yeah, I think the DT room is getting crowded. He is definitely on watch. Hopefully he'll be switched to DE in the 3-4 where he probably belongs.
-
Agree. The point I'm making is his total yards will be low due to a lack of YAC. Therefore his YPA will be low. Carolina had the lowest YAC in the NFL last season.
