  1. Was really hoping Horn would be back. I think he would be huge against Dallas. Actually keep the game in a manageable score. Barno can do what Haynes does, so no loss there. What's up with Shenault though?!
  2. Chart in a vacuum can be misleading. I agree. However, paired with protection issues and lack of time go through progressions, becomes more useful. Honestly, the last 2 games have been exceptionally bad for Bryce. He's pressing to make a play but he's being conserviative at the same time to prevent turnovers. I think he doesn't trust his receivers to get open or make the catch/play, and he doesn't trust his protection to allow him to go through progressions. Tough spot for any QB, particularly as the #1 pick in the draft. Protection appears to be improving (not sure that'll hold true against Dallas) along with receivers getting open. Now it's up to Bryce to settle down and make plays. Hopefully he can shake off the PTSD from the previous 7 games. I think he can. That's why he was chosen #1. Not for his physical abilities, but more for his ability to adjust mentally. Not sure how Reich calling plays impacts everything. I think he pulled the gun too early taking back playcalling. If Tepper is forcing this move, directly or indirectly, then he really needs to take a step back.
  3. You can't fire Frank after one season. You have to give him a chance to get his players in here that are better suited to run his scheme. We want immediate success but perhaps he's focussed on the bigger picture. His offensive scheme isn't necessarily bad, it's just bad for the players currently here in Carolina. At the very least, you give him next season to see how he adjusts his scheme to his current players, or brings in the right guys to do things the way he needs it done.
  4. Can't for the life of me understand why that's a sticking point for anyone that watches the games. Guys actually watched the Texans play and came away thinking Stroud was doing everything by himself on that team - pulling a bunch of bums kicking and screaming into relevance. Dude is balling, but Brown, Tank, Nico and Schultz are making plays all over the place. Contested catches, breaking long YAC, jet sweeps, toe drags, high pointing balls, tracking deep passes while running away from coverage. That ain't happening here. Bryce wasn't completing deep passes early in the season because Mingo and TMJ simply didn't have the ability to go get the ball. Any of those "overthrows" would have been deep completions to any of the Houston's 3 starting receivers.
  5. Their defense probably drops 20... Anything under 50 would be a huge surprise.
  6. He's running an offense that requires receivers that can win consistently at all levels. Carolina doesn't have that this season. This is the same ish we had with Rivera's group, which is the reason I wanted him out. That and the lack of resources he put into the offense after drafting a freak of nature at QB.
  7. I agree. I'm not letting someone else determine my fate either.
  8. I hear you and agree in most cases. But a WR that can take the top of the defense and win contested passes can definitely change the way defenses play.
  9. I thought Thomas would be calling more plays with motion. Seemed obvious based on his experience. Something ain't right here
  10. Some of you guys are sad. Creating an argument out of nothing, with an incredible lack of objectivity just to prove points. OP posted an opinion of an unbiased 3rd party and you still refuse to accept the obvious. Honestly, I haven't seen many/any posts saying Bryce is better than Stroud. Most folk just point out that Stroud has a much better situation than Bryce does with Oline, play calling and receiver play. I've been saying that since the week before Carolina played Houston, when I watched Houston play. Those guys are balling the Freak out in Houston! If you can't at least acknowledge that, then... I'll admit they were able to run that game, and maybe that was an outlier. Compared to Carolina, they have an offense of pro bowlers. Stroud is balling out too! No doubt. But he makes mistakes too. He misses passes too. He misreads defenses too. But he can throw a 10-15 yards pass that gets taken to the house 75 yards. Carolina has one guy that can do that - Laviska. And before he went on IR, playcallers couldn't figure out how to get him the ball in space.
  11. Then he failed and should be demoted. The team gave up too much in the draft to acquire the #1 pick to have him subjected this insanity - doing the same thing over and over...
  12. Oh if he is truly calling the plays, with no restrictions, then I'm really disappointed. Maybe a few more games after Dallas dismantles this team is all he gets.
  13. Now that's a true statement. I wouldn't disagree. That's why I thought Stroud was the pick before the draft. I thought Bryce was too much of a gamble for the #1 pick. But there's no way we can judge his ability based on this crap show.
  14. They're worse than "anything special" No one is open before the QB is sacked or pressured on more than half the pass play calls. And I'm being generous with half. I mean NOT ONE player breaks free from coverage with ANY separation. That's more than just bad plays. That's being predictable too.
  15. That's the type of creativity that isn't allowed in this offense. Get out of here with that mess!
  16. Yeah. I don't think they will now. Similar to Miles and Chuba. It's obvious at this point.
  17. You may be right. I don't know how anyone could possible tell based on the supporting cast. A QB can't do anything without a team. It's literally the most dependent position on the field. Even a WR can out jump or take the ball from a DB. A QB needs the right play (or at least a good one for the defense), adequate blocking, a good route and catch by the receiver, and YAC for icing on the cake. One oline can screw up the entire play. One receiver running the wrong route or a bad route can screw up the play. A bad playcall for the defense is doomed from the start.
  18. See now, let's chill with the insults. Stupid isn't necessary here. You just don't agree. I assure you I'm not stupid. And I likely have more football knowledge - coaching and playing than you. A defender falling down or completely missing an assignment is an anomoly. It is not the norm - unless an offensive playcaller can cause scheme mismatches and mistakes. But falling down for an NFL CB is not something you call in the huddle.
  19. I would argue Terry as an elite #1 that has never had true talent at the QB position.
  20. That may be true. But that doesn't mean he's a bust or that he can't be a very good NFL QB. That's the narrative that's being thrown around. Not that he simply wasn't the level of talent to justify what was given up to get him.
  21. Really? So by explaining that an occurrence was fascilitated by a rare cause, we can't have a productive discussion? That's the definition of a productive discussion. If Bryce threw a 90 yard TD because the defense had 9 men on the field, I would define that as an definitive outlier cause and not the norm. Not trying to make excuses frank. I'm not a Bryce stan. If you can go back, I never even wanted a QB in this draft. But when the Panthers traded up to #1, I thought Stroud should have been the pick - I have my own reasons. But I can still objectively see that Bryce is in a horrible situation - from oline, playcalling, and receivers. Stroud does make his guys better. But they are already significantly better than what's here in Carolina no matter who the QB is. And that's based solely on the eye test. I haven't looked at any stats, past or present. I'm basing that on what I see on game days.
  22. Dalton leaned heavily on Thielen just like Bryce does. Take away a big play to Chark, where the defender literally fell down and no one else has over 40 yards receiving. Teams now know if they take away the 50 year old slow WR, there's no one else to worry about. Either they can't get open, will run the wrong route, or just plain drop the ball. Look Andy Dalton has been in the NFL for like 13 years. And he's had very good seasons with the Bengals - like pro bowl level. He's seen more than the rookie and should be able to adapt better to the chaos that is the Panther's offense than the guy that has played 8 games so far.
  23. Yeah I think EB is coaching for a HC gig - a la Chudzinsky.
  24. And who would you put over that 7th rounder on this team? Who wouldn't you trade for Antonio Brown, Tank Dell, Nico Collins or Schultz for that matter? Just based on how they get open, go get the ball and run after the catch?
