Marquan is my dude…through some personal ties I've gotten decently close with him and our friend group is so excited. He’s gotta work on staying in shape a little bit better/ward off a nagging injury or two but he’s been getting better and better throughout camp. We’re all so hype to see him ball out this year.

Im glad we actually picked Bryce over Stroud.
I been noticing on social media Stroud is a big party guy. For a guy who praises god a lot he sure does like the celebrity party scene.
Bryce seems more business.
Lol I’m very glad we took Bryce over CJ but my brother in Christ Cam’s dad was a preacher and he lived in SIP you can do both and still be a good QB as well

Here comes the fleecing and yet another government handout to a billionaire while that same government entity will say they don't have the funds for infrastructure and other basic community needs.
And here comes CashNewton pulling up to whatever the name of the stadium is still being a Panthers fan regardless of the situation being glad they didn’t leave lol

Let him Play this year and see if he becomes a more complete player with proper coaching in his new role. If so, tag him (currently 20M) then make him prove it for a second year. Then sign long term if he shows he can be a 3 down player effectively
This ain’t Madden

I’m with the OP to the extent that he deserves a shot…at 2nd QB. No harm in getting him the 2nd most reps since Dalton is a vet and could probably use fewer reps on his arm anyways. What if he turns into a Matt Casell type and we can trade him down the road.

There are a few who knock Young's arm strength, but that's not real high on my list of priorities.
As long as it’s not Chad Pennington weak I’m good lol!

Not quite true...
Young has pretty much every quality that I prefer in a quarterback. The durability concerns scare me though.
That's why my preference is Stroud, but I'd also be pretty happy with Young as long as we can keep him upright.
That’s fair…I’m also concerned about the durability aspect but I just think beyond that he really doesn’t have any flaws so I’m willing to roll the dice. I also just think he’s a cut above all the other QBs…I’m not dogging out CJ I just think even with CJ he put out bad tape that BY simply doesn’t have. I’d be thrilled with CJ as well make no mistake but I believe we’re making the correct choice.

Hope so.
Reading the tea leaves it’s pretty clear you don’t want BY and that’s cool no fault in having a different opinion. But when multiple teams tried trading up for him, now other QBs are somewhat falling it’s apparent the general consensus is he’s the best despite his stature. I do think Stroud is gonna be a good NFL qb and given time AR15 as well but Bryce is just *different* imo.

Breer isn't as in the business of doing mocks on a regular basis. He prefers to do just one close to the draft and vets his choices with personnel people.
What does he foresee for the quarterbacks? Obviously Bryce Young goes first overall to the Panthers because he's been saying that for a while.
The rest are listed below:
4. Colts - CJ Stroud
The Colts wind up getting CJ Stroud without moving up at all after the Texans and Cardinals take other positions. Mind you, Breer does believe the Cardinals could potentially deal their pick...to the nervous Colts. Same result.
12. Texans - Will Levis
Like the Colts, the Texans also get a quarterback without trading up. In this case it's Levis, who Breer acknowledges could also go to Indianapolis.
So whither Richardson?
19. Bucs - Anthony Richardson
To Tampa, who + having Baker Mayfield - can afford to sit him for a year while he adjusts to the NFL.
...
So basically, we get the guy we wanted after massively trading up while everybody else gets one by just kinda sitting there.
Not sure I like how this plays out for us...
...and I'm probably not alone.
“Basically we get the consensus best qb in the draft while every one else has to settle for the rest” is more appropriate

It’s Bryce guys and girls…do whatever you need to do to cope but he’s our guy barring a Godfather like offer and I for one am excited about it. I would have been thrilled with either but it’s Bryce.

I have a hard time believing the Texans would pass on a QB
I think the uncoachable thing came from the Texans honestly. I wouldn’t be shocked if CJ was stand offish towards them due to his relationship with Watson/his agent.

I’m not remotely saying Bryce is gonna be Cam or Stroud is gonna be Gabbert Frank and you know it there’s no need to be obtuse. By my screen name you can probably surmise I’m a huge Cam fan….I won’t ever compare him to ANY ONE. I’m just saying no one knows how it’s gonna play out and the last time we were in this situation I remember similar things being said. If you actually read my post you would see I’m absolutely cool and happy with either I think both are gonna be great pros. Have a wonderful Easter Sunday however you so choose to spend it.

I’m old enough to remember when a bunch of Panthers fans didn’t want Cam and wanted Gabbert instead because he was a prototypical QB so idc what the haters say about Bryce if we draft him I’m all in and I’ll be there at the first home game rooting like heck for him just like I will if it’s Stroud. It’s time for a lot of y’all to let go of the CJ Stroud or bust thing because it’s looking like it’s 50/50 at best for either.

He can't block for poo and he's soft.
As a late round flier, sure, but nothing more.
Also Brown didn't call plays in Miami.
I’m thinking that’s where we take our TE anyways if we even do

My idiot brain read this is like an inside story on the NFL leaving CBS and it was utter news to me lol

To be clear, the guys making the pick aren't really going to be all that concerned with what happens to the team if they're fired.
(and why should they be?)
They're going to be making the pick that they feel is best for them. And realistically, that's what they should do.
As far as ability, if they don't feel like there's a huge difference in that, why not take the guy they have to make fewer adjustments for?
If the difference is minimal and they just say screw it let’s go with Stroud I’m more than cool with that (I’m actually ok with taking Bryce Stroud or AR at 1 tbh) however if one is a full tier below the other….and if it’s common knowledge within the front office that Bryce is a decent bit better than CJ I’m willing to bet anything that Tepper “influences” them to take Bryce or AR or whomever they deem to be the overall best. Just my read of it.

You take the best quarterback and make it work around him. You don’t trade the farm to get a system quarterback what if Reich is fired in 2 years??? With all the talent we have in the coaching rooms you don’t take a qb that fits a system at 1…you take the best qb and make your system fit him.

Good. Him joining the panthers was the worst think to ever happen to the panthers beat. It left us with buffoons like person and Newton who shouldn’t be the head beat options for XFL teams.
hopefully he stays local and goes back to doing something similar to black and blue review, which was a pleasure to read.
he was the best beat writer this franchise ever had. When he left, it kept me up at night worse than Steve Reed after the Cam press conference. Speaking of Steve reed, another one on the beat who brings absolutely nothing to the table.
Person has become a much better journalist with the athletic imo

One hidden plus about the staff is the overall diversity not just in obvious skin color but also age/experience/background as well. As long as every one eventually comes to a common ground…which I think Frank is perfectly suited for…this could be a special special group for however long we can keep them.
