  1. It’s funny. I like Bryce. Just not sure I like him at #1. But if you don’t like Bryce at #1, you hate him apparently. That’s not the same thing.
  2. I think a big factor is the exposure. Everyone who watches college football is aware of who QB’s Alabama. They are televised. They play in big games. It certainly builds opinion. Had Josh Allen QB’d in the SEC he’s probably not dropping out of the top 5 players in the draft.
  3. 0:35 is not an entire breakdown but I’ll listen to the podcast tomorrow and see more about what he’s saying. Have to hear the total context. Regarding “logic”…we are dealing with opinions here. Anything can be argued as logical or illogical in the realm of ideas. And I still don’t get the Skip Bayless thing. He and Skip, aside from talking sports on camera, do wildly different things. It’s a different format. Skip is more of an actor playing a role (as is Shannon and Steven A. before that). Simms is more a guy just giving opinion in an entertaining format.
  4. One plus side to drafting Young…there’s a higher chance we will see Corral play.
  5. I haven’t heard the Will Anderson take yet, but the others you mentioned, he explained why he thought the way he did thoroughly. Doesn’t mean he ended up correct, but just like anyone, he gets some right and some wrong. Saying he’s like skip bayless, or that he’s a moron, or that he’s clueless…well that’s exaggeration and sounds emotional. Ironically moronic and clueless. I take it he has a different opinion than you, and you don’t like it. And if you like Young, he doesn’t even dislike Young. He has him as his second best QB in the damn draft. He even said in that clip that he is worthy of #1. He just likes Stroud more. Not having a guy #1, and criticizing a player doesn’t mean he hates the guy.
  6. How is he like Skip Bayless? Simms is thoughtful when he has a take. He explains it. Gotta get past this “if you disagree with me you are a moron” culture.
  7. I don’t think they are fans, they just aren’t liars. Brees was annoyingly good, and it’s been a pleasure watching Winston and co try to replace him.
  8. Yeah but…I find it hard to believe that’s the reason for Brees comp. Good observation on your part, but I’d be shocked if the majority made this comp for that reason.
  9. It’s a lazy comp in my opinion. It’s made because he was a great QB who wasn’t tall. The guy I would actually comp to Brees…is Stroud, who has silly Brees like ball placement and touch.
  10. It would be funny if the team that took the most physically imposing QB in NFL history with a #1 overall, took the least physically imposing QB with their next #1 overall.
  11. I’m most intrigued by Chinn’s usage, followed by Barno and Brandon Smith. Those two are freak athletes. I think McCall’s gonna show again how much of a UDFA win he was too.
  12. Stroud’s ball placement is better. His arm strength is better. Young does certain things better than Stroud too. But Stroud merely being bigger is just narrative.
  13. So people clown Simms for his Wilson take a lot, and if you are one of those people, I encourage you to look at at JT’s top 5’s over the past few years to see if you are impressed.
  14. That’s a good framing. CJ’s ball placement could end up being Brees level frustrating to compete against. Basically with me, my concern over the last year was them both being on dominating teams. A deep dive if the film resulted in reinforcing that concern with Bryce, while calming that concern with CJ.
  15. As I’ve really dove into evaluating these guys more closely, I agree. I absolutely love watching Young’s tape. He oozes intangibles. He’s a gamer. He’s fun to watch. I just don’t think he’s a #1 talent physically, and that includes not having a #1 prospect arm. The arm was the shocking thing to me. It wasn’t what I’ve heard it was for the last two years of hype. It’s good enough…not a noodle, but I don’t see the power throws from him, and that may be related to his frame too. There’s also so many highlight plays that people drool over, where he is back there for 5+ seconds…and that’s virtually none existent unless you play against us if Burns misses a game. That also doesn’t mean he won’t end up a great QB. It’s simply trying to pick the guy who had the highest chance of success at the next level. Stroud to me is QB1. He makes big NFL throws all game long, and his ball placement is consistently elite. He goes through progressions. The ball effortlessly (almost gently) leaves his hand, and yet the spiral and velocity are very good. The amount of throws to the sidelines, where only his receiver can get to the ball while falling out of bounds are plentiful. Those are big time throws. And he has the power throws when needed, and touch when he wants it. I don’t know what his ceiling is, but I feel like he’s the type of talent that bare minimum (aside from injury, or a complete 180 in off the field character) he won’t be the reason you can’t compete. He just seems the most “professional” when you watch him play. I could be dead wrong, but I’ve had concerns about Young and Stroud for over a year because of their stacked teams. But after a bunch of tape, I think I can confidently say I was wrong on Stroud because of ignorance.
  16. I won’t read the whole thread but this is essentially the QB discussion: 1. Young would be QB1 but too small. 2. Stroud would be QB1 but can’t handle pressure (only counter is GA game). 3. Matt Corral died. 4. Levis drinks Mayo. 5. AR15 is secretly a TE. 6. Hooker doesn’t contribute to, but draws social security. This is basically it until the draft right?
  17. I’m glad he mentioned the Michigan game. That game, loss or not, really sold me on ways he can be special. He dropped some absolute dimes while evading pressure, fading away.
  18. To be fair…don’t waste time responding to it. They want a reaction. And they wasted your time.
  19. I just like options. Corral is a young guy with a live arm and plenty of athleticism. The #1 pick will be too. I just want the QB position fixed (no poo we all do), I’d rather have two guys with potential than one. If Stroud/Young ball out of control then sure, get rid of Corral…but damn it seems stupid to do so before we see the rookie play a down at the next level.
  20. Think bare minimum he should be kept because poo happens in the NFL. Much like SF, our shiny rookie could get hurt and/or suck, and then the franchise is what…Andy Dalton’s? And as previously stated, he may develop into a competent player that we can then trade for assets. I know carrying 3 QB’s is becoming less common, but he’s last years 3rd round pick at the leagues most important position. Should he be cut so we can keep a 3rd/4th nose tackle or safety who would clear waivers anyway (Corral most likely wouldn’t). Oh and someone will mention Eason, but he’s already shown that he clears waivers just fine lol.
