  1. I love this. Even if he’s not the same player. I’m sure he has things to share with our young DB’s, and he knows what Wilks expects.
  2. Was he supposed to beat Seattle and Detroit (make sure to look at their 6-1 run before us and the teams they played)?
  3. The 1-4 start when he wasn’t HC is part of “his” record though. Being in contention is great, but if we were already eliminated, it would not take away from what he has done with the team once promoted.
  4. Denver, yes. Trash. Seattle, overachieving team. Middle of the road. We brought Geno back to earth. Lions though? Good team. They aren’t the same team that started the season. They had been on fire. Beat the Vikings. 3 point loss to the Bills. Beat the Giants. Won 6 of 7 games before playing us. We punched them in the mouth. What the Steelers did to us a week ago, we did double that to the Lions. Overall, the league is mainly “eh” with a few top teams. So everyone has a “weak” schedule, but really most teams have been inconsistent. But these past 3 wins…2 are quality wins imo.
  5. The saying goes “don’t let great be the enemy of good.” This of course is too simple, but Wilks has been good. And not just good compared to Rhule (that’s not hard). We are running a lot. People want sexier offense, but we don’t really know if the nature of our offense is because of Wilks, or because of what Wilks has to work with. “Too conservative” to me isn’t simply running the ball a lot. If you can run the ball that’s great. Too conservative to me is “Fox Ball punt on 4th and inches on the opponents side of the field” type poo. I don’t see that extreme pussiness from Wilks.
  6. I enjoyed Juan’s post. I got to the end, did a “slightly blow air out of your nose” laugh, and said “this mutha fuga…” No need for a ban. It’s a sports forum. It’s okay to have fun.
  7. Why you routinely confuse correlation and causation blows my mind.
  8. It’s easy to poo on Darnold. Low hanging fruit. But regarding “what have you done for me lately,” he’s played his best mistake free football of his career. His numbers aren’t crazy (McAdoo wouldn’t allow that anyway) but I’m most impressed by the way he has handled pressure. Taking a sack when needed. Using his legs to buy time while keeping his eyes down field. Throwing the ball away. Happy for the guy. He’s contributing to this teams success right now.
  9. None of this matters. Where a guy was drafted/who won what Super Bowl…that’s history. It just tells you what happened. Not what will happen. Not context on why it happened. Corral/Rookie succeeding has nothing to do with history. It’s about development, coaching, surrounding talent, and their mental make up.
  10. That’s something we can all agree on, and something we need to remind ourselves of.
  11. And tribalism is built into the very fabric of human nature. We quite literally cheer for a team that wears black and blue and can’t stand others who wear black and red.
  12. My panthers fandom fully expects us to control our own destiny, be slated for the playoffs, then lose the final game a blow it
  13. And then we all have times of weakness. Like after watching our team get bullied for 60 minutes. The following 24 hours or so show that. Fortunately it doesn’t ruin my week like it did when I was younger. That poo sucks and I hope others who let that happen can find their way through it and realize it isn’t that big of a deal.
  14. Yeah I’m thinking his injury may have been one of those that won’t get better until the off-season, so he isn’t 100% but pushing through it. He has shown to be a fantastic RT outside of this year, so I’m not worried about him, and he gets a pass IMO.
  15. I don’t see those as mutually exclusive. There’s a lot to like about this team currently, while also desiring better moving forward. I’d kill for the offensive creativity of Miami right now for example. But I think it’s okay to want to take the division even if it’s a poo division. I’d love to get to the playoffs, and possibly have a day when our run game and line is clicking and maybe we steal one. poo can happen. I also understand that sometimes you need to go backwards to go forwards (like losing early forcing Tep to fire Rhule). We all want to see the team win, but I don’t watch games hoping we lose. If I’m watching I want a win, and if we lose I can celebrate a better draft pick during the week.
  16. I mean…sometimes the other guys just have your number. We lost the trenches yesterday. The Steelers did what we try to do, but did it to us, and they did it better. McAdoo is bad. Sam needs to game manage at best. He’s playing like a solid backup should. We can’t get behind in a game. The team, however, responded well after the Bengals ass whooping. Let’s see how they respond to a similar ass whooping, not in score, but in the trenches. It’s not a certainty they were uninspired just because they got beat. poo happens.
  17. I guess, for me, is that my view/enthusiasm/attitude for this team changed a poo ton after Rhule was fired, and that feeling of liberation hasn’t worn off (for me). Getting rid of him nearly felt like a playoff win in some strange way. Seeing the teams attitude change, and seeing them continue to compete has some positives in it, and yes the division is poo, by hypothetically stumbling into a division title and having a playoff game…that would enhance the Rhule firing even more. Sam has taken care of the ball better than I thought, but this team still lacks a QB and a better play caller at least. I don’t think as many people are seriously delusional enough to see this as a Super Bowl team, but they just want the little wins as they come. One of my favorite teams growing up was the 99’ team, with Beurlein, Moose, Walls, Jeffers. They only went 8-8, but they made it exciting down the stretch. I mean that’s a “failing” year, but it was entertaining and I have good memories of it. So if enjoying something better than our awful Rhule start is delusional, I guess add me to the group. But I don’t think that is accurate. I think delusional is what Cowboys fans have been for the last 20 years.
  18. Why do you think you do it/why is it fun for you? Are you celebrating a victory (by losing/tanking)? Or are you pissed too and taking it out on others? Some other reason?
