Just hit me that Sam will look oddly large behind center on Sunday. Gonna be weird having a plus 6 footer out there.
-
What’s funny is Sam is more physically gifted than the top 2 prospects in 2023. Young’s brain in Sam’s frame would be one hell of a QB prospect.
-
His team is simply too dominant to properly evaluate him. Doesn't mean he isn’t talented, but Ohio State hides a QB well, since they aren’t pressed to improvise, make tough throws, face adversity. Can he get it done in 11 v 11? Because on Ohio State he gets to play 7 v 7. I’m unconvinced he is better than Corral. Corral is a better athlete; twitchier. Arm is similar. Both have a nice release though Corral’s is better. Stroud makes more NFL throws, but under no pressure. He’s slightly larger, potentially more durable. Basically one QB was put in situations to show NFL traits, and the other player played pitch and catch. I just hope if Stroud is the guy, he doesn’t end up being another JAG hidden by a loaded dynasty program.

Watch us win this game 34-31 because the world makes no sense. But all seriousness, Darnold starting at least gives a new variable that will be interesting. Baker is miserable to watch. Darnold probably will be too, even in a new (and terrible) system, but WE KNOW Baker is miserable to watch.

Maybe Teddy Bridgewater wasn’t that bad….
Wundrbread33 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
He doesn’t score touchdowns. It’s the only metric that matters. -
Exactly. Foreman out rushing CMC isn’t a result of Foreman being better, but the result of a coach (McAdoo) insisting to force players to do what he wants them to do, versus building an offense tailored to the strength of the players. No poo Foreman is better at running A gap. CMC instantly looked amazing in SF without idiotic usage holding him back.
-
I’ve seen enough of McAdoo, who’s hands touch all these bastards.
-
Moore looks like he is going through the motions. He’s compounding the poo QB play with low effort/focus on the rare occasion he gets a good ball thrown his way.

Time to bring Mark Williams up from Greensboro..
Wundrbread33 replied to WOW!!'s topic in Charlotte Hornets
You’d think a defensive coach would love Williams and his length. Also you’d think Richards would be getting 30+ min a game. Clifford is so frustrating man. Plumlee isn’t even as bad as everyone thinks, he just shouldn’t be a starting center. And how the hell are our lottery picks going to learn the NBA game if they aren’t allowed to play in NBA games. Meanwhile we routinely get torched by rookies on other teams that actually get burn. We have to see what we have in the young guys, especially with our best players hurt. -
Melo is 100% a star. Just hurt. Shitty luck this season regarding health of the team as a whole/Bridges situation. It’s not panic time, it’s just that injuries to all our top players at the same time make us look like ass, and makes it feel hopeless currently. Better draft picks/Mark Williams getting a year to develop/emergence of Richards. There is hope and a future.

Me too. I think a lot of people bought in to the “Cam is a thug” propaganda around that time. It was everywhere, and it had me a little nervous too, but Cam had unquestionable athleticism and talent. I watched a lot of Gabbert and knew he was a fraud. He couldn’t hold Chase Daniel’s jock, let alone Cam’s. -

As just shown, you can find examples of everything. There is an example of both viewpoints in 2015. We had a franchise QB that got us to a Super Bowl. Denver had poo QB play and they got to the Super Bowl. Everyone here wants to win. There are just different paths and opinions on how to get there. Calling other opinions as “loser mentality” is lame. I see people calling tankers as “losers” too. Wish we could stop doing it. We simply all want to win. That’s seems evident across the board, at least long term. -
Some want to see Sam, not because he is good, but because Baker and PJ have been bad. Since variables have changed from last year (HC, OC, o-line), they probably want to see if Sam is just as bad as last year, or an improvement over Baker and PJ with the same variables. I wouldn’t mind it for the above reason. At this point, the QB’s on this team are auditioning for, AT BEST, a future backup role, or situational starting role while the next QB is developing.

That is such a parody of what I said. I want a QB as much as anybody. Duh. Who doesn’t? But damn…there are 32 teams and 1 wins it all. And we can’t control any of this poo. We’ve had teams that were great to watch with players who were fun. They mean nothing because they don’t have a ring? 2015 for example, was a better season than most franchises will ever have, Super Bowl or not. Hell of a ride. Also that year, we got beat by a stellar defense and a below average QB in Peyton at that age. There are many ways to win. I’d love the next Mahomes, but you banking on that? Good luck. -

The “we didn’t win a championship with Peppers” line of thinking is miserable. If can’t find joy or meaning in watching your team outside of “Super Bowl” the odds are not in your favor of enjoying the game. We lost to the Patriots in that Super Bowl, but it was one of the best Super Bowls ever, and it came down to one play. And we did it as a whole team, without a Peyton Manning type QB.- 74 replies

Defintely not a team looking to lose....

Horn really is one of the most gifted corners I’ve seen. Effortlessly athletic, while also instinctual. -
Teddy cemented my hatred for focusing on completion percentage without context though. We saw Cam throw in the 50% range (in his prime) but he was taking a ton of shots downfield and being aggressive. Simply incorporating a focus on the short game (under Norv Turner), had him in the high 60’s%. I’d have to watch more of Fields to see what that 59% means.

The draft board are now pretty much locked.
Wundrbread33 replied to Snake's topic in Carolina Panthers
Football is too weird to think draft order is set right now. I agree with @Waldo regarding draft order and worrying about it. We are just too far away regarding where we will pick, what players will rise and fall, etc. But that’s me personally. Obviously anyone can do what they want. But I’ve exhausted myself going back and forth about the QB prospects and even Corral. I think it will be fun casually watching tape on various prospects during the season, but outside that, it’s exhausting personally.
