I hope David Tepper is aware of a basic truth
Beast_3000 replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
Russel Wilson has 19 touchdowns with just 4 interceptions. Wilson leads the NFL with the best TD:INT ratio That situation is no longer a black hole, or the worst in the league. This team right here is. -
You have too. His hands are dirtier based on this sorry roster. While Frank is no savior if he had a decent roster I know he wouldn’t be the worst team in the league. Fire Fittz

Marshall was open on that 3rd down drive ending play

Yep you summed up my thoughts exactly. In a tank year, which I strongly oppose because you play to win the game, you at least have the optimism of that franchise changing #1 pick. Our high IQ hedge fund manager who also happens to be our low IQ sports owner has a bottom feeder soccer team and bottom feeder football team. Our roster is much worse than it was when he took over the team and we have less draft capital than any other team in the NFC. This is definitely rock bottom. My optimism for fixing this mess is probably tied to the salary cap available over the next few years. I think Bryce is smart enough to be comparable to Tua at his peak. We need weapons surrounding him. Bryce by no means is athletic enough to make up for the difference in talent like Cam, Josh Allen or Mahomes.
-
I’m not even a Levis fan based on his college tape but I didn’t want Bryce. I still don’t see the athleticism or arm talent needed to be a top 10 QB.

At what point does Fitterer start taking heat too?

It kind of validates what we all have speculated Tepper helps make some of the big decisions through our GM but he’s extremely impulsive and gets involved in the wrong processes. Scott is trash and needs to go. But Tepper is probably culpable for a large % of the QB decisions so he is unwilling to admit how bad he has hurt this organization. -
Is this fanbase not suited for a rookie QB?
Beast_3000 replied to BrisbanePanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don’t blame the fans, it’s the owner and GM failing to make sound decisions. Bryce will be fine when he gets some talent around him, but our GM Scott has completely depleted this team. Our best receiver would probably be the 3rd option on most teams. it’s not Bryce’s fault, but let’s be fair the team had tunnel vision for the QB that has performed the worse out of the big 4. CollectivelyTepper and Fitz have set this team back and it’s expected for the fan base to be frustrated about the past 5 years. -
Man say it again for the doubters in the back lol.
-
Why many of us probably including you and I want Fitterer out of here. We could have resigned Foreman and had a nice 1-2 punch for much cheaper.
-
Since you asked for a positive he has played better than last season albeit a small incremental increase.
-
All of us scratched our collective heads at the signing and the cost. I was optimistic due to his wide receiver ability. His catching ability out of the backfield has been okay. At best he should be our 3rd down back until Tarik Cohen gets up to football speed. Then let the best man play. Chuba Hubbard should clearly be the starter.
-
I believe the reason that got out from Ben Johnson was legitimate. Ben balked at this job because we didn’t have a roster and QB he felt good about, and he felt he had unfinished business in Detroit. While I hate Tepper meddling, and I think he’s the worse owner in the NFL, I don’t think that instance was his doing.
-
Sooo you believe a 1-4 team unde Rhule , that is now 0-8 under a supposed all-star coaching staff should have been better under Wilks that went 6-6? That’s delusion lol seek help. Rosters matter. Training camp matters. An interim coach can only tweak his scheme during the season. Injuries matter. That’s why we sucked against Brady and Evans, We were missing both starting corners. That’s why our defensive sucked against Detroit. Give Wilks some resources and he could have potentially thrived. Look at San Francisco’s dismantling of Dallas on Sunday Night Football last night. Guess who was the defensive coordinator. You got it! It was Steve Wilks. Sean McDermott was a defensive minded coach under Rivera. I would take his success here in Carolina any day. All you want is a chance. We don’t have that right now.
-
And not drafting Puka Nucua the Rams rookie breakout. We need some scouting department changes too.
-
Puka Nakua, CMC, DJ Moore all offensive talent an offensive genius could have really used to be game changers here in Carolina. Fitterer has made our last two GM’s look like Canton inductees. At this point I don’t trust Fitterer to send off, pick in the draft, or trade any talent. I think the next GM should make the call.

Steve Smith Sr. Wants You All To Relax
Beast_3000 replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
This was not sold as a rebuild. Owner and GM both said we would be competing for division titles this year. In one breath you discredit Wilks as a Rivera disciple but Sean McDermott was a Rivera disciple too. He was cast away as a failed Jimmy Johnson disciple but McDermott has found plenty of success. Dominant defense and above anverage offense with a good QB. The formula could have worked with Wilks in this weak division. Tampa is winning despite having an average at best QB. No one else could have taken the 2022 Panthers a quarter into the season (given us an identity) and land us in the playoffs. The man was given lottery chances at best to succeed and get the job. Wilks didn’t have a training camp to maximize his pieces or pickup players that would have helped us grow. Stop with the narrative it fell in his lap. He gambled with players that were not as good as Brady and Mike Evans and lost. The reality is Tepper and fans like yourself never would have been happy with Wilks even if we made the playoffs last year. The narrative would have been he hurt our draft status with a waisted year. I bet you Wilks wouldn’t be 0-4 or if you include the preseason (0-7) if he was coaching this team with the resources allocated to Reich. -
Thank you! I was scrolling in the thread wondering if anyone would acknowledge DJack is a corner that is coming off an Achilles injury that relied on athleticism. It definitely takes time for a corner or wide receiver. Im hopeful that this year Jackson will learn to read his keys better, which will make him a smarter corner. As 80 to 90 % of his quick twitch explosion returns, he will hopefully be a better player.
-
Yes but they could beat this well resourced Frank Reich team that is 0-5 when you include preseason. Steve Wilks has never been given resources, and you can argue he has never been given a fair shot. Wilks would have had this team putting up a better showing. Wilks team last year would have beat this squad at almost a 90% clip. This team lacks an identity. If your response is Wilks team wasn’t good then this poo here that Tepper and Fitts put resources behind is an abomination. The play calling was better last year with Darnold and that speaks loud and clear about Reich and his offense so far.
-
Nah I have to say I disagree. Ownership and the front office really believed they were close. The Panthers underestimated the job Wilkes did with Matt Rhules leftovers. Tepper and Fitterer felt if Wilkes could go 6-6 with Baker, PJ Walker and Darnold, without a training camp, or his own personnel, then a competent rookie could potentially make us even more competitive. Setting yourself up in the preseason to say you’re really close to being competitive isn’t a smart move unless you truly believe it. Tepper and Fitterer dropped the ball by letting Wilkes go. Despite Wilkes stubborn mistakes against Tampa, he did an exemplary job, considering the circumstances he inherited.
-
Yep great post. It amazes me how no one acknowledges how Wilkes gave us an identity as a tough nose bust you in the mouth team. Yet he we are half a year later and we can’t stop the run and our offense looks abysmal. Sadly so many of us thought the grass was greener on the other side, but I can tell you this patch of poop ain’t it.

Latest reports are saying he is expected to play, which I am thankful for. This is going to come back to bite us in the butt. I may be in the minority here but Burns has played out of position his entire career here and excelled. At edge he’s gonna put up monster numbers. If he gets to 17 sacks and challenges for the sack lead this year Burns is going to want Bosa + money not 28 million a year. I don’t see why Burns wouldn’t be able to flirt with 17 sacks playing his natural position while Houston and Barno line up on the opposite side. His initial burst is unreal.
-
Not with that pending lawsuit. Teams are staying away.
-
We shall see. I believe he doesn’t have any guaranteed money after year 2 so hopefully he comes out balling and makes it look like a contract steal.
