  1. Just use my QB model. Only 15 starting caliber QBs have passed through it since the Panthers came in to the NFL. Only 4 of them were 1st round picks. 13 of 15 have been to the playoffs. 12 have won in the playoffs. And one never got a chance to play. Several have been to the SB. That's why I'm excited to see how this draft works out. It's been 5 years since it has approved a QB as a starter, and 10 years since it has offered up multiple QBs. I doubt the Panthers draft any of them lol. Panthers have had 1 of the 15 on their roster for a few years. Also, 11 of them were available to the Panthers without any trade. I'm sure the Panthers will fall in love with another QB that bottoms out in a year. Just let a blindfolded monkey throw a dart at a wall of balloons. The QB name that pops out, go after them. Seems like it will have a better success rate than the current Rhule/Fitt/Tepper QB method. Another season of hope is what I'm expecting. Maybe this year it won't be so short.
  2. If Willis ever throws a pass like that, it is picked. He bends the WR back to the middle of the field. Awful throw and great uncontrolled reckless arm strength. Arm strength doesn't mean a thing without consistent accuracy. How far can he throw it while being consistently accurate? Strength+dimes. Strength without dimes is a recipe for a losing QB.
  3. I would call it jealousy. I wish people would just have more fun with it, not try so hard to be FIRST, and not act like their opinion/speculation has been vetted as fact. Have fun or move on. It's a message board and the NFL is entertainment.
  4. Not Burris. Panthers admitting defeat in the safety market. Just draft Markquese Bell in the later rounds. Grab Elvin De La Rosa (Winston-Salem product) too. 5th, and 7th imo. Let them go hit and create fumbles. Special teams gunners and safeties will be set. Put them in that 33 with Chinn and Woods. Problem solved.
  5. This whole Garoppolo, Darnold, and Mayfield situation is a mess. Meanwhile, Cam is shaking his head screaming he is better than all 3 of them.
  6. So, traded a draft pick to rent a pro bowl player for 9 games during a losing season because the front office, ownership, and coaches thought they had a playoff team on their hands. Reactionary emotional management at its finest. A home town pro bowl player that playoff teams value and can utilize. The Panthers however can't seem to locate that same utilization and value for Gilmore that a SB contender can? This team hasn't had a plan since Rhule and Fitt have been here. Just playing with the billionaire's money and treating players like they're a shiny kids toy to lose interest in. They obviously can't solve the puzzle that is the NFL and leads to being a champion. You have to love how a SB contender can lean in and tell the Panthers they'll take that junk off their hands as the Panthers look confused as to how to make Gilmore fit and produce wins. I never thought the Panthers would reach the Jets/Lions level of low, but now here we are. May it have anything to do with tapping into that Jets incompetent culture through the likes of Rhule and Fitt who love their NY Jets mentors/consultants? Tapping into the Giants culture was bad enough under Gettleman. This is worse. Panthers started by tapping into the Steelers/Cowher, 49ers/Walsh, Washington/Gibbs, Eagles/Reid cultures for 20 years. Then they decided to jump off the rails and run with the Giants/Coughlin culture - a mixed bag of hit and miss. Now, we have the Jets Woody Johnson/Terry Bradway (no coach because the 2 of them use coaches and GMs as fall guys) culture seeping into the organization. Bradway's son played for Matt Rhule and while Johnson/Bradway have stayed short of success for decades they have their relatives being funneled in to executive positions around the NFL. The Panthers are now the Jets-lite and this will likely go on for decades with Tepper as the owner. I don't believe they even care about winning creating a winning/championship culture. I think the Panthers under Tepper are now a training ground from athletes to coaches to front office for the bigger markets and championship teams.
  7. Or maybe they are showing up to see who wants to trade up for a QB because they aren't planning on taking Pickett, Wilson, or Corral. Need to start working those trades for draft day. You want a QB? Call me and we'll talk. If they do take a QB it will be tiny hands because Rhule throws a tantrum. McAdoo and Fitt are not sold with their QB needing youth gloves.
  8. Looks like we're 2nd in the NFC now. That's an improvement.
  9. I want to win a SB on the backs of CMC and have Rhule retire. Cash in and go rip off some college boosters like Michigan. Let McAdoo take over. Rhule can follow the tradition of Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcells, and Dick Vermeil. I just hope we don't have to hear him talk on all the sports shows. He can think of himself as a genius. I just want him out asap.
  10. Get comfortable with saying this... "If only he could stay healthy and out of trouble." That's what you get for 3 to 5 years with Corral and then you're on to your next QB. Sprinkled in will be some good games and flashes. No doubt he is the better of the 3 they are looking at. Still not the best long term prospect in this draft.
  11. Transfer portal. Deion Sanders recruited him away from Florida to make him a centerpiece and showcase him in building a new program. Same thing Jermaine Johnson did going from Georgia to FSU. Big school teams that over promise and under deliver to their recruits to get them in the door are losing their players in the transfer portal. It's going to happen even more with the transfer portal. The NFL teams that pay attention to these players will get steals in the draft. Players don't go to HBCUs because they can't cut it with a big school or they have legal problems. It's easier for them to showcase themselves and increase their value. Business decision. Why did Malik Willis go to Liberty?
  12. Rhule gets Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, Pickett/Willis/Corral drafted + Vet starts, Fired.... new coach comes in. Trades QB. Drafts another 1st round QB. I've seen this before. College coach comes into NFL gets free agent journeyman who isn't clutch in year 1, 1st round struggling QB with hope fails year 2, QB drafted and sits while new vet mentor starts, FIRED... new coach comes in. Trades drafted QB for another 1st round QB. Where? Riley gets Jim Harbaugh, Ryan Leaf, Brees drafted/Flutie starts, Fired... new coach comes in. Trades Brees. Drafts Rivers. Here we go again. Does anyone ever learn from history?
  13. Is Craig's 611 yards still a pro football record? Still holding up after 21 years?
  14. Yeah. Big schools are upset that HBCUs are sniping their players. James Houston IV was a stand out in the NFLPA and Senior bowls. Invited to both. And players he is better than were at the combine. Why? Big school politics sending a message to 4 and 5 star athletes who choose to use the transfer portal to go to an HBCU to showcase. The combine is a joke.
  15. Hell yeah. You don't know about James Houston? James Houston IV. Can cover deep, play every LB position and play the run and pass at the DE position. Better than Luvu, Burns, and Reddick. Hybrid player. Scouts should have been there for him alone. Saints like several HBCU players and they were the only NFC South team in attendance. You want him now??? Thanks Panthers for not even doing your homework for a player who works perfectly in the 33 Stack and an instant upgrade over Luvu.
  16. Pickett, Willis, and Corral are not the best QBs in this draft Corral will win when he is on the field, but he won't stay healthy, take some ill advised risks on the field, take some ill advised risks off the field, and ultimately be more trouble than he is worth. Not a team player imo.
  17. Aqeel Glass Saints, Seahawks, and Rams have their eye on Glass. Not sure he is even on Rhule's radar. Glass has been climbing up the draft board while the group in front of him has been falling. I'd be happy with Glass, Coan, or Ridder if he drops to the late 3rd round.
  18. Let's go all out and add Mayfield to that QB room. The pinnacle of beta QB rooms. Don't think I've seen that since Kerry Collins, Frank Reich, and Jack Trudeau. That was a fierce QB room filled with leadership and playmakers.
  19. 2 playoff wins in separate seasons. No game winning drives in the playoffs. One season with more than 10 wins. One division championship. 51 losses and 15 game winning drives. That would be a big fat L for any #1 pick in the draft. And the Falcons traded what for that #1 pick? Brad Johnson, Jake Delhomme, and Drew Brees had more success than Vick in the NFC South from 2001 to 2006, and you did not have to blow all that draft capital to get them. Why would you even have low expectations for a 1st round QB nevermind a QB with the #1 pick in the draft? If your expectations are that low, than just wait until the 3rd round to draft a QB.
  20. Vick was a bust for a 1st round pick. Should have been no more than a late 2nd rounder right after Drew Brees. Drew Brees should have been a late 1st rounder like Rodgers. The Chargers got it right with LaDainian Tomlinson and Drew Brees in that draft. Almost got it perfect if they took Steve Smith in the 3rd round. Chargers coaching staff at the time was much like Rhule though with Riley running it into the ground regardless of talent. Malik Willis is more like Akili Smith than he is Michael Vick.
  21. No need to suck for one next year. Build the rest of the team and go all in on a pass heavy offense with an available mid to late round QB or unknown potential already in the NFL. You either find a Brady, Warner, Hasselbeck, or Delhomme letting them know this is their one shot. Tell them to prove to us we don't need to draft a QB next year because we found our leader. They have enough of an OL and defense to succeed after this offseason. Drafting a clutch WR with great hands and big play ability would be the one piece they need to add to give the QB 5 receiving targets that will threaten/spread out a defense. At worst, you draft the WR this year in Garrett, Burks, Olave, and Dotson. The team will have the WRs to pair with a QB in next years draft if we can't find that diamond in the rough QB, and hopefully a new coach to go with that 1st round QB. At best, you have a team competing for a championship and franchise leader at QB. My picks for QB in the draft this year are Desmond Ridder if he falls in the draft, Aqeel Glass, or Jack Coan. Rypien and Buechele are my hidden gem picks if the Broncos or Chiefs would give them up for a 5th or 6th round pick. This is the year to give QBs like them an opportunity to take over the team. What's the other option? Getting a known quantity at QB like Cam, Darnold, Walker, or Mayfield and hoping for a mediocre season and a one and done in the playoffs? At best, they get carried by the defense with a shot to win a SB only to look for their upgrade/replacement in 2023.
  22. Western Michigan, New Hampshire, and Georgia Tech. Stacked up those gaudy numbers and an L. Came crashing back down to Earth the following week against Virginia Tech. Throw Duke in there and the L to Miami... you have your answer to why he had the numbers he did. 1 Game winning drive in the last 2 years. Sounds like a winner in the NFL if you give him one of the best defenses and a schedule full of Lions and Jaguars games. Then he can sit out of the playoffs since he stacked up those meaningless numbers in the season.
  23. QB talent in this draft is very deep. May be the deepest in the last 2 decades. You have many QBs with NFL staying power. The issue is they are of the journeyman/ backup variety. Think Colt McCoy, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Derek Anderson, Jay Cutler, Randall Cunningham, Mitchell Trubisky. Quality back up deep with glimpses of being a franchise starting QB. There could be 10 to 15 quality QB backups out of this draft. The signs are there too with the insane QB trading after seeing/studying these QBs. Several reports from scouts/executives of not seeing a QB with first round talent, let alone top 10 talent continue to be around since November. Five of the top 6 media darlings looked bad in live action against top talent vanilla defenses. The 6th has been rehabbing a serious injury. The media sells their draft and offseason stories on the QBs. So, they are inflating certain QBs to make it look better than it is. If all you do is read/watch stories and the combine, you'd think there was a Watson, Mahomes, or Allen coming out of the first round. One of them comes close, but he has some serious attitude and injury problems. A couple others will be 1st round reaches because teams are desperate and afraid they'll lose them in the 2nd round.
  24. None of the QBs in this draft are worthy of a 1st round pick
