  1. It’s perfectly fine to believe Bryce showed some very real red flags in year one. Because I agree - I have my concerns.

But what choice do we have right now? We have no option but to give him another year. It’s like most people on this forum would rather go through another miserable season just so they can be proven right for random internet bragging rights. Are you even a fan of the team?

Bryce is going to be QB1 in 24 and there’s nothing we can do about it. The way I look at it, we have no choice but to hope he demonstrates real improvement and proves to be someone we can build around. You really think bringing in Gardner Minshew or Drew Lock right now is a better option?

Let’s just hope for the next 12 months he improves. If not? Guess what we’ll be awful again and can start fresh with another high pick

My hope is that if they build the team right, eventually they’ll see that it’s Bryce holding the team back and draft a new QB eventually. Kind of like what KC did with Alex Smith and Mahomes, and to a certain degree 49ers with Jimmy G - Lance - Purdy.

It drives me insane how many people are still operating under the belief that if we just get a QB in plae we'll be good. This is the worst roster in the league without a shadow of doubt. Right now our only priority is building up the rest of the roster as opposed to wasting more assets chasing a QB only to play with the worst supporting cast in the NFL.

It is Canales decision to keep Evero, so be it. But it’s clearly a decision coming from Tepper. I just think holdovers from a previous staff are risky, even successful ones.

    Absolutely.

If Canales meets with Evero and determines that they can collaborate and share a cohesive vision for team building and roster construction, then perfect! Evero has more than proven to be one of the league's best DC's and we'd all be lucky to have him stick around a few more years.

But if Canales thinks the assistant outside linebackers coach is a better fit, and he wants that person to be his DC. Well, then, that's what he should get.

I'm honestly past caring on the Burns front. I'd let him straight up walk before I gave him cap crippling money.

Yup. And it would be one thing if we felt like we were close and he could put you over the top. But that’s not where we are. Get whatever we can for him and move on. Brown is someone you re sign and build around in my eyes, Burns is not

A lot of his run schemes are identical to what Reich and Brown tried to do this year. Either the OL will have to be overhauled to match the scheme or we're gonna have a bunch of guys acting as square pegs in round holes.

That’s one concern I definitely have. Is he the type married to one philosophy or will he gauge his personnel and build his offensive foundation to the strengths of it? Because the great coaches do the latter. I have no clue what he’ll do, only one year as OC we really can’t say what his approach will be here.

Seems unlikely that Canales will be one-and-done for a lot of reasons. I think the only way that happens is the team somehow ends up with the #1 (or #2) pick in the draft and they can reset (again) with a QB and Coach at the same time.

The next time Verge makes a good point it will be the first time. Rhule got 2.5 years to figure it out. Where is the impatient label coming from?

One thing that is going for him... Pete Carrol is one of the best culture builders to ever do it. He's the rare type that could do it both in college and NFL which means his system truly works. Pete hired Canales to USC from COMMUNITY COLLEGE and has followed him everywhere and worked his way up until he left for the Bucs. That's almost 15 years of seeing exactly how Pete does team building at different stops. Gotta imagine a lot of that stuck with Canales.

On a similar note, I wish Tepp would pay Pete a billion dollars to come on in some sort of advisory role.

Do you guys understand how directionless this search is? The Seahawks have their mind set on a defensive guy to stop 49ers and Rams. The Titans had their mind set on a west coast offense guy for Will Levis. We are interviewing everyone from the eagles OC to Mike Vrabel to defensive guys. Totally lost franchise right now.

Every team so far has interviewed a blend of offensive and defensive coaches. I’m totally fine to be skeptical about everything this team does right now but what exactly would you like to see them do differently? Also, last year our search had a “direction.” We were set on an offensive mind and missed out on Ryans and Gannon because of it.

The truest dumb thing here is your assessment, the deflecting, and poorly used example.

I can give you loads of examples of teams hiring retreads and it working out. Any coaching hire ever is going to come with some sort of risk. Just because it didn’t work for us last time doesn’t mean don’t try it again.

  10. If you think you have even a 10% chance at Johnson I’m fine to wait and let this weekend play out to make a final Hail mary attempt. But if the Lions win, I’m not sure we can go an extra two weeks without hiring a coach unless we’re super confident we might get him. And every insider thinks him to Washington is a formality

To all the people wanting Morris or Vrabel - WHYYYYYYY do we want retreads? This is mind blowing to me. Let's at least follow the trends of what is working at the moment and bring in a successful OC from somewhere.

16 of the last 23 Super Bowl winners were coached by a retread. I’d say the evidence shows it works just fine.

Not sure why everyone is amped about this. Is he a better coach than what we have had so far? Maybe. But, he's still in the same boat Reich was when we hired him - recently let go. Not sure we are learning anything by making this move.

Vrabel easily clears the bar of a good coach for me. Let’s not act like he’s had juggernaut rosters in Tennessee. You can make an argument no coach has done more with less over the past few years.

He's also exactly what we need from a cultural standpoint. He’s taken a ragtag group and won games on the road in the playoffs by playing smash mouth, disciplined football. Sound familiar?
