    Just curious.

Some interesting info in it that isn't being reported anywhere in the press.

Key factors in the report seem to indicate (a layman's read) significant blame is to be placed squarely on the shoulders of the owners of the two vehicles parked in traffic which were involved in this unfortunate, avoidable, and

I will look for it, if you have a link to it can you dm it to me? Would love to see it. Thanks

KC Didn't contribute to the accident in any way.

Say what you want, but that is ignorance grasping at straws.

I am a licensed attorney and not in the habit of making ignorant statements, unlike you.

So where did you go to law school? Answer quickly or go to the back of the line and I will waste more time embarrassing you later.

Knowing someone has issues with substance abuse and hiring them is one thing. Be liable for someone else’s screw up that is in no correlation to their company or franchise is another. They have no chance in hell on getting any money from suing KC organization.

    1. they did not tell him to wreck

    2. they did not knowingly supply him with impairing substance that could contribute to the wreck.

    3. They are not responsible for his actions that are completely outside their franchise.

    case closed

I defend large companies all the time in court so I can assure you based on doing this for over 20 years this is hardly a "closed case".

    To your points -

    1.  That is irrelevant because it is not a theory they can or would pursue against KC.  They would sue the insurer of the car Reid was driving (and get the policy limits undoubtedly).

    2. - that is dram shop act vs a bar if he was overserved,  so agreed there.

    3. - Incorrect. If they called him to come in to work or he was drinking with other coaches while discussing work, yes they can be held liable under multiple theories.  If the vehicle was owned/rented/leased/maintained by KC, they can sue.  If he was reimbursed for his mileage coming to or from work, they can sue KC. If a happy hour was coordinated by KC staff and he was drinking there, they can pursue KC. We can speculate all day but we dont know all the facts.  But there are ways to potentially pursue KC, these are just some of them.

If the injured child can be put in front of 12 jurors (ie, they cannot get themselves removed from a lawsuit on summary judgment), I can assure you they will settle long before that happens.  People with cases far worse than this sue companies all the time knowing they will settle out of court simply because of the horrible optics if the case is in front of a jury (and in the news).  Does it mean they will win?  No.  But they dont have to win - they just have to get in front of 12 sympathetic people to get KC to settle out of court.

They can sue KC, but won't get anywhere.

Maybe, maybe not.  We dont know all the facts.  If they arent dismissed on summary judgment, there is a significant chance a jury could hit them bc of deep pockets and a VERY sympathetic plaintiff.

People sue companies all the time and companies pay a lot of money to keep things quiet and out of court.  Like it or not, that is our civil justice system.

    Can't sue KC.

Not true at all.  They can sue whomever they want....it may just not be sustainable.  In this case they may very well have a legitimate cause of action.

If KC knew he had an issue with substance abuse and hired him anyway, especially if he was known to do it and drive, it could be negligent hiring.  If he was on his way to work or was called in while drinking, it could be respondeat superior.  It depends on CO law.  But nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised if the family sues KC as they have deep pockets, and this child will have significant medical needs for a long time due to this accident.

    This is sad.

He should come forward on his own and offer a settlement.

As far as jail time, not sure that is going to help. With most people with issues like this, it takes more than jail time for them to hit their rock bottom.

If he has a criminal attorney that attorney would not let him offer anything.  Not to mention this little girl is facing tens of millions of dollars in medical costs over her lifetime, I highly doubt he has the assets to make her that kind of offer.

If the family has an attorney representing them my bet is they try to sue KC and force them to settle it out of court.  They have several theories they could file under.  The only way to sue KC though is to keep Reid as a defendant for now.

The family wants him to face the strongest possible charges, and who can blame them?

The DA is waiting on the tox results, then he will (I am sure) be charged.  The DA made some comments that were somewhat ill-advised about this being a "likely" DUI (ill-advised because that can in some jurisdictions be seen as tainting the jury pool).

The civil suit will undoubtedly be significant.  I hope he has some really big insurance policies.

The kid is a huge target that is very similar to Antonio Gandy-Golden who was drafted this year from Liberty. Both are huge targets with big play making ability.

This sounds good until you look it up and see that Gandy-Golden caught one pass for three yards as a rookie after being drafted in the 4th.

Yeah, he seems like one of those small school guys who tantalizes with his physical abilities but the lack of quality competition or coaching may translate to him not transitioning to the NFL well if at all.

We can save $4.9M releasing Paradis straight up. $8.5M if it's post-June 1st. That he wasn't announced today with the rest of the names tells me that we're at least going to hang onto him until we see what happens in FA and possibly the draft. We may be looking for a surprise cap casualty to become available. If we have a rookie QB we expect to play early, then we can't also rely on a rookie center IMO.

I think your last sentence is a big part of this, we have to hedge our bets without a clear plan at QB for now. pParadis was mostly serviceable last season - not to say he is worth what we are paying, but, we dont have a replacement for him on the roster.  Why not keep him and if we come up with a better plan B then we will make him a post June 1 and get more money off the books.

  11. Mac Jones would be good behind a good O line.  He would be absolutely murdered behind the one we have on this team not unlike the way Carr got murdered in HOU when they drafted him behind that patchwork quilt the fielded in front of him.  Much better fit in Indy where he can stand and throw.

Heard he’s been dropping because of a few factors. Without an actual combine things might get weird with certain players but I’m higher on Rashawn Slater honestly

So why are you higher on Slater?  I would be fine with either one but I am just curious as to your line of thought.

  13. Amen Jeremy. Amen.

This draft was way better than any pundit will give us because we have filled out an area of strength and extinguished an area of need. Not to mention snagging two guys as UDFAs who were mid rd talents.

My bet is that this draft will prove to be genius in hindsight. And we have some money to spend moving forward.....

  14. Would be happy if any of these guys made it to us in Rd 2. TN has 3 picks in the second rd now, I bet they are the most likely candidate for us to trade with depending on how the board breaks in the first rd.

Shepard is the consensus safest pick among these from what I have read. The guy is just a good football player and incredibly strong for his size, I think he had like 20 reps on the bench at the Combine.

Ifedi is a monster, he passes the eye test for sure - not sure if he will make it to the second rd.  I watched him shove some of the AL guys around when A&M played them.  If we dont get this guy, Joe Haeg  might be the pick later, I think he might really be on our radar 4/5 rd if we keep a pick there.

Bell is projected as a FS in most of the reports I have read, I think he is probably the least likely of these it would seem we are more in need/would take a value pick at SS.  He is a solid cover S if that is what DG is looking for.

But any of these guys would be a good grab in the second rd if DG pulls the trigger.

I am a bit surprised Germaine  Ifedi was not on the list--I think I would remove the TE and insert the LT candidate.

Hunter Henry is nice and I would like him in the second, but we have not really visited with him (to the best of my knowledge-don't we always bring in the first rounder at some point?)

That has been my one red flag on the Hunter Henry pick as well, however they may have him in between now and the draft. I think we met with Shaq really late last yr.

All those guys will be beast in my opinion.

Purely my personal belief but I thought Fournette wasnt the same after the horrible performance he had in the AL game plus the arguments about carries for Henry can be made against him as well if he has another yr like lasy yr, but, I dont know more than a GM or scout so if we took him I am sure I would have a jersery of his the next season. Whoever Gettleman took or takes I cant argue with and wont.
