Idk Canales might be keeping him around because of the head coaching experience. It’s not like Caldwell is a total nobody to the league.

As with most things in this process, if it's a Canales decision, I'm on board with it. If it's a Tepper decision, I question it.

I'd really like to believe Tepper isn't stupid enough to keep another "boss's informant" around in the wake of last year's mess, but I've learned to never underestimate just how dumb Tepper can be in these matters.

For what it's worth though, I would agree with those who say that doesn't seem consistent with Jim Caldwell's character.

Not much in the article stating specific times or dates, said that wed likely be waiting a few more days for those, as they are attending senior bowl practices this week. @Mr. Scot if anything pertinent happens on the Athletic this morning I'll post it if you're busy.

FYI: Finally had a moment to read the article. You're analysis is spot on.

The only thing of any real consequence that we didn't already know is the mention of Jim Caldwell being retained.

Person didn't seem to characterize that as a Canales decision. Not sure how I feel about that given the prior situation.

In the MMQB, Breer speculates that Evero could force his way out to go to the Rams or Packers because he is friends with the coach and they are better teams.

I think it's nonsensical.  Evero's HC candidacy hasn't taken a hit at all; he's still gotten multiple interviews.

If Canales wants him, I think he stays.   And I'm ok with Carolina forcing the contract unless they think he will be disruptive (which is doubtful because he is very professional).   There is a lot at stake with him being DC.  He's a top guy that won't be able to be replaced , especially this late.   They also would be sacrificing the (2) third round comp picks for when/if he gets hired as a HC.

I would agree he stays if he and Canales talk and agree they can work together.

If not though, does Tepper really need another "sh-tty boss to work for" strike against him?

Hell, why would Canales want him if he doesn't want to be here?

It will be funny if Brady sucks as a commentator.  You don't get rid of a known commodity that's excellent at their job for someone brand new to the role simply because of their success in a different area.  I don't doubt Brady has a wealth of knowledge about the NFL, but can he communicate that information effectively, concisely and with charisma in a live broadcast?  Greg certainly can.  Olsen crushes it!

I'm pretty sure Brady's going to come off as a douchebag, largely because...he is one.

  5. Tepper wouldn't have been in much of a position to meddle with Rhule because Rhule brought all of his own people with him.

At least not up until the final season of course, which is when staff changes were made and when Campen, Tabor and others came aboard.

Would definitely be interesting to know whether this stuff started then or didn't start until Reich.

About Campbell--he took a team that has never sniffed the super bowl in 57 years and had them on the doorstep.  Wilkes gave up 24 points in the first half at home to an underdog.

Campbell beat himself--live by the sword, die by the sword.  Wilkes was not holding the sword.  Dropped passes, a key fumble, not kicking 2 FGs--Detroil beat themselves.  Full stop.

And per his own words, he doesn't plan to change his approach.
