  1. Sewell --> Parsons --> Pitts
  2. A literal handful of them beyond that one, too. You want a guy who can control the game, dictate the pace of it and make use of every weapon on the field while exploiting any defensive weaknesses. That's game management. That's not a pejorative. It is a big time skill set and requires a massive capability to process, an accurate arm, the guts to hang in there, pocket awareness and a fair amount of guts to make the throw or take the sack as necessary. The good ones are rare. They often have a ring or two or three.
  3. Benching Rodney Peete at halftime in a losing season opener and sending in Jake "Who the Heck" Delhomme and then riding his work to our first Super Bowl appearance. Nothing matches that. Cam was supposed to be that guy and eventually was. Jake was supposed to still be delivering for UPS before the end of the season and he just refused to not take his shot at his dream.
  4. Mark my words, Jones will be the first of those QBs listed to find lasting success in the NFL, except for maybe whoever the 49ers take at #3, which may well be him. Lawrence and Wilson will probably be headed to Jacksonville and the Jets right away. They are in for a difficult transition, no matter their skillsets simply because you can only untangle a trainwreck so quickly. Lousy organizations with loser mentalities and players who'd rather be somewhere else. Expect nothing from either of them than talk of how good they are going to be when their teams come around in three to four years (barring more coaching changes). Fields, for all his accomplishments just seems to be someone they want to compare to someone else and he keeps sliding down draft boards. Not sure why, but that's just how it's shaking out. Lance looks like a wunderkind, but he's not just young and athletic but he's had fewer starts that heck Will Grier and faced lesser competition in the FCS division. He could well be great, but he's got a major learning curve ahead of him. Jones, for all his knocks, is now getting derisively compared to Matt Ryan. The unathletic, whitebread guy with a braided belt, as someone said. Ryan, hate to admit it, has pretty much eaten our lunch over the years -- 9-2 since the 12/27/15 loss that ended our undefeated season en route to the Super Bowl.
  5. At this point, if even Houston still wants Watson, perhaps he should feel pretty good about that.
  6. Enough kids like that and we might be able to fix this old broken world.
  7. There's more truth in this than folks want to admit, but it is the case here and beyond.
  8. Why not wait until after the draft when the trade prices will plummet for the three? Or maybe the draft plays out differently than the spin doctors are predicting and we get a good QB? Right now, everything is at a premium, it's a rotten time to shop. Everyone wants to act like those draft picks are burning a hole in our pocket and we need to throw them away willy nilly.
  9. Just by sitting calmly and letting the nervous and desperate shake things out ahead of us, we will come out with the best of the bunch. It's #8, not #29. CMC came to us at #8 (and y'all laughed when I said that would be our pick) and Luke came to us at #9 (and people went, why? who?). Jordan Gross was our #8 pick, as was Biakabutuka (well, he could have been great). And we grabbed Derrick Brown last year at #7. It's a good place to be in the draft, act like it.
  10. I think he'll definitely take a swing at a QB in the draft, but you are right that there is no good sense in trading multiple picks away just to move up.
  11. He will be playing MLB as well during games, except for the 3rd quarter where he will only be a RB/WR/HB/TE/KR. That is if he doesn't have to be third string QB as well. After the game he will be driving team bus #2 and/or flying the chartered team plane. After autopilot is engaged he will serve drinks and sing to entertain his teammates. The dude does it all.
  12. Just breathe. It's going to be alright. We've dodged a crap ton of bullets in this offseason in not getting what some people here want.
  13. Good episode and this has a whole different tone than WandaVision. I keep saying that, but I think it's important that Marvel's different vehicles get driven in different ways. The light-hearted WandaVision was perfectly punctuated with some serious moments and pulled together into something that went beyond just a fun story and became kinda profound. FAWS is much more serious, but there's still something enjoyable about it, it somehow remains fun. That's not easy, and it is something that DC just cannot get right outside of their CW franchises. That being said, I'm really kinda tired of the Flagsmashers kind of badguys... it's been done to death. They have the whole Marvel universe of low-to-mid card bad guys to use as a front for the main villain and they basically recreate the rather lousy Retribution job squad from WWE?
  14. Been trying to say Jones was going to be one of the top QBs from this batch, possibly the best. Have been saying we'd grab him if he was still there at 8. But hey, what do I know?
  15. Actually, after today's moves, there's a lot of speculation that Jones won't be there when we pick. He may not make it past #3.
  16. I think we'll grab Mac Jones at 8, but there's a chance that with the serious run on QBs in the top 10, we may see some trades that pushes even more than four QBs off the boards before we get there. If so, look for us to take either LT or Micah Parsons in hopes of swinging back for a second round QB pick. I think we're very likely to see teams like New Orleans, Denver and even maybe Tampa Bay make some aggressive moves to get QBs. Detroit and maybe even Philadelphia could make picks for QBs considering their tenuous situations there. Even Miami could stay put and snag a QB. It could be just that crazy and leave our brass with some selections that most likely wouldn't be on the board this late.
  17. Maybe, but Seattle let him go, and that makes me wonder. Our other DT/DE pick-up from the Rams makes more sense as an impact player. He looks like he was on the upswing of his career and has a hunger to make himself a starter. Heck, we just need some run stuffers on that line. Crazily, we were more effective at preventing first down yardage gains versus the pass than against the run last season. And that's after we'd been told how bad our pass defense was going to be. And statistically, we were one of the worst teams in the league when it even came to getting other teams to third down, much less preventing them from converting. That defense was soft.
  18. It goes fast and we need to have some in reserve because there will be some vets available after the draft when we have a better idea of needs to fill. And there's always at least one surprise vet that suddenly finds themselves looking at a trade possibility. It's a good idea to have some spending money on hand even into training camp.
  19. Sometimes the greatest blessings are definitely the things you didn't get.
  20. It really comes down to the money. This isn't a good market for players looking for big pay days. And we don't have a whole lot of spendable cash left.
  21. We ascribe a lot to Tepper based only minimally on what he has actually said or done, both good and bad. If we just look at what has been accomplished here since he took over... ...well, there's not a lot more winning. He did, though, pick up the team when it was pretty down and out, promising a rise to greatness (or at least respectability). We're a few years in now and I think we need to start seeing some results this season. Then again, it's not like we can call for him to get fired. He owns the whole darned thing.
  22. Honestly, they've got a lot to prove that we can put together a good defense, much less a great one. First year, coaching gets a pass. Second year, we need to see a defensive identity emerge, something besides "do what you want to but leave us alone!" We were one of the worst defenses in the league last season with our stats being just a bit polished by that shut out of a broken down and dejected Detroit squad.
  23. Talk about team ownership just phoning it in. Will their mascot just be a soccer player?
